Do you give Big Papi the green light???

I wonder if that was on his own or if Francona gave the OK.

In the majors, guys like Ortiz, Pujols, they have green light always. A manager would never take the bat from those guys.

Pure insanity with Ramirez on deck. I was watching the game with a couple people who had the White Sox big - I had them small myself - and we were all saying, "Is there any way Francona is dumb enough to give him the green light here?"
        Records:

        NCAA Hoops (38-34-2, +4.59*)
        NFL Sides (34-25, +12.15*)
        NFL Totals (18-14-1, +8.23*)
        NCAA Foots Plays (65-48-4, +21.47*)
        NBA Plays (4-1-0, +5.92*)

How do you take the bat out of the hands of the best clutch hitter in baseball? The guy has proven time and time again. You make him take a pitch grooved down the middle? NO WAY!

What's the sense? At 3-1 he'll get the same pitch. By not taking Ortiz gets two grooved pitches.

One more point. It's one game in the middle of the season. If it's in the playoffs or WS then I could see taking a pitch.

It's a good point...and if you play Monday Morning manager, if he walks and gets the run home, Red Sox win that game instaed of having it go 19 innings.

                Personally....2 outs...I take one pitch.

That pitch was nowhere near grooved, I'm not sure it was even a strike. That's the problem, the pitcher was wild, and wasn't going to throw three consecutive strikes.
And how do you take the bat out of his hands? When you've got a better hitter behind him.

THAT was my arguement yesterday watching it with friends. It's not like it was some scrub on deck. You don't want to walk him to bring in a run and THEN face Manny.

But what's done is done. If he hits a home run I never make this post.
