Dunkel Index

I am not sure what is going on with the Dunkel Index. Normally they have very dependable in posting their index.

Also, they usually respond rapidly to email questions - I sent them one yesterday and still no response. There have been a few times where they had some technical problems that delayed posting of the index, but never a time period this long.

According to their site the index has been run by brothers Robert and Richard Dunkel. And from the net I found that there is a statistician named John Duck who at one time was a data programmer at the News-Journal in Daytona Beach, Florida who oversees the index.

At this point I have serious concerns; hopefully nothing serious has happened to anyone. If anyone has any other news regarding the Dunkel Index - let us know!

Six-Pack for Saturday
-- I'd love to know how many teams in history of baseball had runners on 2nd and 3rd with none out in first inning, and went on to lose game, 1-0. Tampa Bay did it Friday.
-- Jose Lima probably pitched in his last big league game as Marlins crushed him, 7-3, with Willis hitting grand slam into Met bullpen to seal Lima's fate. In his career, Lima's record was 89-102, in 343 games, but he was 37-18 in 1998-9 with Houston.
-- Lackey retired the last 27 A's, after first hitter of the game doubled in 3-0 Angel win.
-- Red Sox have a find in this Lester kid. Tough lefthander.
-- Met phenom Pelfrey makes his debut in nightcap of the twinbill Saturday; he skipped over AAA, and if he has any kind of success, figures to stay with the Mets for while.
-- Familiar faces Sammy Farha, David Williams won events in World Series of Poker this week. Phill Hellmuth finished second in another event; had he won, it would have been a record 11th WSOP title for the self-promoting Hellmuth.

Saturday's List of 13: Things that caught my attention.......
13) I wonder if Barry Bonds feels bad that Greg Anderson is going to jail because of him.

12) Tiger Woods' father Earl played college baseball for the Missouri Tigers.

11) Dan Marino was the sixth QB taken in the '83 draft. The other five? Elway, Kelly, Eason, O'Brien, Blackledge. Three Hall of Famers out of six.

10) Florida Marlins have won two World Series, but haven't won their division yet.

9) Tennessee won national title in football, year after Peyton Manning graduated.

8) Before Patrick Ewing came along, Georgetown's all-time leading rebounder was NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue.

7) The great Bob Uecker, who made career out of poking fun at his own mediocre playing career (hit .200 in big leagues), is in the Hall of Fame. As an announcer, but still, the guy who played Harry Doyle in Major League is in the freakin' Hall of Fame. Is this a great country or what?

6) Even more amazingly, Isiah Thomas is still employed. My day job is with New York State, but even I would get fired if I did my job as poorly as Thomas does his.

5) How about the Phillies: Larry Bowa was too tough, now Charlie Manuel is too easy. Maybe a schizophrenic is next?

4) If you're going to a big league game and Tim McClelland is umping the plate, bring extra money for food: in his last three games behind plate, there were 51 runs scored, 34 walks, and just 33 strikeouts.

3) There is ugly rumor that Lebron James' endorsement deals double in value if he is playing in New York, LA or Chicago; if this turns out to be true, and Lebron bolts the Cavaliers for one of these cities, fans in other NBA cities should boycott those products, as way of discouraging this from happening to one of their star players.

2) Vanderbilt football coach Bobby Johnson looks a lot like the brilliant comedian Steve Martin. You need a sense of humor to coach the Commodores.

1) Travis Hafner has 70+ RBI, is first player EVER to hit five grand slams before All-Star break, but he wasn't named to the All-Star team. If he played for the Bronx team, he'd have his name on a monument already.
