  • TP's Thursday, 6th of July

I'll post the record and reason later. This line is at BetJamaica, the out I use least of my three baseball books. Pinnacle is running -106, my line was -115.

    New York Yankees +101 (Johnson/Lee)
This is the first, and probably last, time I bet on the Yankees this season.
    Records:

    NCAA Hoops (38-34-2, +4.59*)
    NFL Sides (34-25, +12.15*)
    NFL Totals (18-14-1, +8.23*)
    NCAA Foots Plays (65-48-4, +21.47*)
    NBA Plays (4-1-0, +5.92*)

        Thanks guys.
Well, the Braves just finished stomping the Cardinals. Unfortunately, I didn't bet the two strong opinions - they both won easily as well.

        Baseball Plays (45-45, +4.72*)

        New York Yankees +101 (Johnson/Lee)
This might seem weird to those who have been paying attention to these threads, because I constantly tout how overvalued the Yankees are, and how overvalued Johnson is. He did dominate the Tribe in his lone appearance against them this season, and he has started picking it up around the All-Star break last couple seasons. But that's not what this is about.
This play is about the numbers these teams put up against LHSP - the Yankees walk a lot more against lefties, hit 30 points higher as a team, and score nearly a run more. That's a large part of why the Yankees are 16-8 against LHSP, and the Indians are 15-16.
I really like how the Yankees pressed the issue on the bases Wednesday night, and exploited the terrible Indians' defense. The Indians had to use up a lot of arms, and their bullpen is terrible anyway - the second worst in the league, and 1.11 runs worse than the Yankees' pen.
I think the Indians have to score a lot of runs to win this one, and I just don't think they'll be able to do so.

I've also got a pretty strong opinion on a team that I bet in the first two games of the series, and recommended in the third:

Devil Rays +149 - What in the world? The Devil Rays have beaten the Red Sox by three runs three days in a row. Boston is 0-7 last 7 against the AL, and the Rays seem to have their number. They start a pitcher who is 4-1, and carries a 1.38 home ERA into this one (as opposed to Wakefield's 4.98 road ERA). I understand a lot of people will be betting the Sox not to get swept, and they probably will win, but this line makes no sense.

For those betting the national TV game, good luck. Do you want the team that is 3-12 last 15 and just got their ass kicked by the Braves, or the home team laying odds that just lost to the Cubs at home with their best pitcher?

        Good luck to everyone!

I haven't heard, I'll post as soon as I find out. I would imagine if it's close, he sits out since Lee is a lefty anyway. Aaron Guiel (I can't believe the Yankees picked up someone the Royals waived, but he could be a big help short term) may play tomorrow if he is available.

Got this info.....Crosby may start in his place.

New York's win may have come with a price as center fielder ****** Damon left in the third inning with a slight muscle pull in his stomach. The Yankees were being overly cautious, but with two star outfielders -- Gary Sheffield and Hideki Matsui -- as well as second baseman Robinson Cano already on the DL, they aren't taking any chances with Damon.

New York's leadoff hitter first felt a pain during pregame batting practice, and then while taking a swing in the on-deck circle before his first at-bat.

"It's sore," said Damon, who expects to sit out Thursday's series finale. "I'm a quick healer so I think it will be OK."

Damon pulled up his shirt to show the area on his stomach where he's hurt.

"At first I thought it could be a small, little hernia," he said. "I'll try to be back as soon as I can."
