Ja. Weaver may be there next year and Liriano, if starting since day one, would have been. That hurt him!

Wayne, as a Sox fan I also thinkl Schilling got screwed...but if I had to pick, and their stats are virtually equal, I would take Verlander over Schilling. It is just about a toss up but I would give Verlander the nod.

Verlander is solid but as i looked and mentioned in post 13, his numbers trail in about every stat. He shouldn't go before Schilling if he is 2nd to him in all those stats.

Wayne, his ERA is 6/10ths of a run better than Schill's. That isn't close. He gives up fewer hits per inning but his baserunners per 9 innings is equal to Schillings, Schill has a much better K to BB ratio. IMO, it is a very slight edge to Verlander. I think when it is this close between two pitchers, I would also look at the teams. Det has a better record and I think only 2 reps. Sox have what 4 or 5 reps? If it is a coin flip, I think that should play a part in deciding...BUT ONLY IF IT IS A COIN FLIP.

He is second to him in IP, BB, K's...that is it. V has the edge in ERA, Hits, CG, SHO and HR Allowed...be fair, he doesn't trail him in most stats.

Jacks, including tonight, he has one less start (you're right) AND he still has one More loss.

Schilling is about a half a run behind in Era but he has 2 more quality starts than Verlander, almost twice as many K's (Not Close), Less than Half the walks (Not Close), And Schilling's WHIP is .13 better.

I'm not saying one is clearly better but the point of my original argument started with what a "Homer" ozzie is and the Buehrle & Redman shouldn't be there ahead of Liriano, Schilling or Verlander!

I agree...Schilling or Verlander should be there ahead of Buerhle...Redman is there for obvious reasons.

Schill lost to the DRAYS and Verlander pitched a great game...i vote for Verlander

Being a Sox fan, I'd rather have Schill at home resting too!

maybe he'll stay at home and paint up another "bloody sock" for the playoffs
