  • Detroit vs Pittsburgh

Detroit is completely self destructing and looks like they might blow the huge lead they had.

They are like the Mets in a way-very good team with some good young players, but doubt seriously they have enough to make it to WS. They were lucky to win one of 4 from the Yankees and then lost 2 of 3 to Red Sox.

Thank God Detroit wins. I still thinkthis team is in trouble long term if they have to use Todd Jones to close games;he showed his true colors today, and I can see now why he has been peddled four or five times in the last few seasons including by the Red Sox.
He reminds me of how Kim used to struggle for the Sox even when he got the save. Thank God the Sox have a real closer for a change.

Todd Jones gets paid over 5 million a year, overpaid! Colon isn't much of a relief pitcher either. He came in the 7th and gave up hit after hit. We really survived that one, we were in big trouble in the 9th with bases loaded.

Hey Tigers are winning, but I still have to think that if they have to use Jones or as you say Colon in playoffs if they should get there, they might be in trouble.
Jones had some ok records(wins) with other teams, but the latter felt no urgent need to hold on to him either;that tells you something.

I am watching the Seattle game now, and as usual Eddie Guardado blows the game.
As in the case of Todd Jones, we have another case of closer who truly sucks and is past his prime;yet the Mariners have no problem wheeling him out there day after day.
