Thanks for making Johnson less than a +150 dog.

Baseball Play of the Day (40-42, +2.06*)

Brewers (Capuano) @ Twins (Silva) Under 9 (-119)
If the voting took place today, my theoretical vote for the NL Cy Young winner would go to Chris Capuano. 9-4 record while playing for a team with a losing record, 1.1 WHIP, and more IP than anyone in the league. Even if you don't think he is the best pitcher in the NL, Capuano is the most consistent pitcher in all of baseball.
In 17 starts this season, he has gone 6+ innings pitched EVERY SINGLE TIME. That is amazing, but in 16 of those starts, he gained a quality start (6 or more IP, 3 or fewer runs allowed) - no one else is close in this category. These numbers are incredible, and a big reason why the Brewers are so successful in his starts. As people who read this column regularly have read in the past, the Brewers have a good enough bullpen to go a couple innings, it's when they have to pitch 3, 4, or more innings that they struggle. Also, Minnesota has been struggling with lefties, scoring only 4.3 rpg (as opposed to 5.3 against righties), and this is the best lefty they've faced all season.
On the other hand, Milwaukee hits LHP better than RHP (5.2-4.5), and Silva is the perfect guy to go against them. He has been pitching much better lately - he shut down the Dodgers and Red Sox in his last two home starts, and he pitched well at Houston. He walks almost no one, and the Brewers strike out more than anyone in baseball. Milwaukee will hit one or two HRs, but the Brewers won't be manufacturing many runs.
Fifteen of Capuano's last 19 starts have gone under (10 of 12 on the road). It continues here.

    A couple small personal plays:
Pirates Team Total Over 3.5 (+102) - Everyone knows the Pirates are awful, but their offense is actually pretty good, - it's everything else that sucks - and they kill RHP at home.
Royals +190 - Fat Sidney shouldn't be this big a favorite under any circumstances. The Cards are only 6-10 against lefties at home, and 13-18 overall. The Royals are actually pretty hot right now, while the Cards aren't at all.
France +0.5 +123 - Brazil looked lost last time out in the most misleading score in the history of the World Cup. You could argue - I would - that Ghana outplayed them. Two bogus goals and Ghana's missed chances were the difference. France is a more experienced team, and they won't make the same mistakes that Ghana did.

    Good luck to everyone.
