Baseball Play of the Day (38-39, +2.25*)
Astros (W-Rod) @ Tigers (Miner) Under 9 (+100)
Zach Miner had a poor first outing against the Red Sox - since then, he's been lights out. He's held Toronto, Tampa, and Milwaukee to 3 total earned runs (and only 12 hits) in 22 IP in three consecutive victories. The Astros average 4.4 rpg against RHSP, which is 0.9 fewer runs per game than they score against LHSP.
Wandy Rodriguez's overall ERA is 4.45, which is pretty good. But what I really like is that his road ERA is only 3.40 in six starts. The Tigers have been dreadful vs. LHSP - only scoring 3.8 rpg.
In addition, Comerica Park has been the 4th lowest scoring park in baseball. The Astros' bullpen is around the league average with a 4.48 ERA, and the Tigers have the 5th best in MLB, with a 3.71 ERA.
A smaller play for me is under 9.5 in the Braves/Yanks game. Johnson is coming around a little, and the Braves are just hapless against LHP - it was almost miraculous when they scored 4 runs against Hendrickson today. Hudson is Hudson, and the Yankees are better against LHP, and in day games.
