  • College Bowl Contest???

I'm thinking about putting together a college bowl contest. Entry fee of $50 with payouts going to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. All picks would be made before the first bowl game, which I believe is Dec 14th. using the lines as of then.

How many would be interested in playing? I would have to have at least ten players to put it together.

We would need to get this going pretty quick so the entry fees can be collected before the first game.

Respond here or email me if interested.
    Good luck,
    John

John are games ATS or SU? If ATS would we have to pick them all as stated with opening lines?

              Wayne,

We would use the opening lines at scoresandodds.com, it would be against the spread picks.

For Payment we can do paypal or neteller. You can also send a money order if you like, but it would have to be received before the first game is played.

If we get enough interested by tomorrow, I will iron out the details.
              Good luck,
              John

I'm all in for 50.00.also i think oddsandscores is a good idea, but think you should still post the line on this thread so people do remember and there is no confusion.I deal in cash so ill over night or for 15.00 ill western union the money.I know someone stated he'd be interested in a 20.00 pool,so maybe you can start 2 of them just a suggestion or 3 pools 20...50..100..anyhow great idea let me know ill send a money order or western union anytime..thanks and good luck. Also for ur work i think each winner should give you at least 10% of his/hers winners.Thats how we do it on all are football pools in the bars here everyweek. Its really just an unwritten rule. Thanks for your work..rip

So John we would use opening lines and pick all the games at once? Would the opening line be used for the Jan. 2 Bowls or did we pick them all weeks in advance and wait for closing lines?

I know i'm a pain in the ass but i was a little curious about things. Oh yea and i'm in!

                        bowl pool

                        EZ:
I'd love to join the pool for $50. Count me in! I have a suggestion though: I participated in a pool where there were no point spreads. Instead, you ranked the teams according to what you thought was strongest to weakest. As an example, let's say Oklahoma was your best bet...you would put them #1...Auburn was the game you had the most doubt about, you would put them #28 and so on. The person with the fewest points wins. Upsets play a big role in who wins since there are no points involved. It was so long ago that I played in this, I'm not sure if this is exactly how it went. If someone knows the "right" way to have the pool this way, please chime in.
                        Thanks,
                        Moosh

                          John,

                          I'm in for $50.00.

I'm in another one with the office pool.

                          A suggestion:

As soon as the bowls matchups are set take the lines from scores and odds and make an excel file and either email or fax to the participants with a "no exception" deadline. All picks have to be in before the first game with the tiebreaker being closest to the total points scored without going over in the Title Game.

Thanks in advance for getting this going.

                          Keep us updated

                          Phil

Really I would like all the picks to be done prior to the first bowl game. We would use the opening lines from scoresandodds.com that I can post here. So line moves will not matter in the scoring. The games will be graded on the line posted here and I will also post it on a contest page on my site.

It looks like we have enough interest to get this thing going, so email me through the link on my site to get the payment info. I will also try to have a page up on my site by tomorrow that shows all the players and their payment status.

Maybe someone else would start up another contest where you can make picks on the day of the games with updated lines. It would just be too much for me to handle.

All games will count as one unit. Except for one 5,4,3,and 2 unit games that each player may use. To keep it easy to track, juice will not be used for scoring. I will also designate a few bonus games. For example if the Suger Bowl is a 2X bonus game you would win double your bet. So if you make it a 3 unit game and win, you win 6 units. But if you lose, you lose six units. You also do not have to use your 5,4,3 and 2 unit picks, but you must make picks for every bowl game listed.

I will provide you with the contest link to my site when I have it ready.
                            Good luck,
                            John
