    By The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) Anthony Davis had a season-high 50 points and the Los Angeles Lakers improved to a league-best 21-3 with a 142-125 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night.

Davis hit a floater with 4:39 remaining to reach 50 points for the fourth time in his career. He was 20 of 29 from the field and made all 10 of his free throws to go along with seven rebounds and six assists.

LeBron James had 32 points and 13 assists despite committing four fouls in the first half. Alex Caruso added 16 points as the Lakers won their fourth straight and improved to 10-2 at home.

Each of the Timberwolves' starters had at least 12 points. Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins each had 19 points as Minnesota lost its fourth straight game.

Davis had 42 points through three quarters, one more than his previous single-game best this season, 41 points in his return to New Orleans on Nov. 27.

    HEAT 110, BULLS 105

MIAMI (AP) - Tyler Herro scored 27 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 38.2 seconds left in overtime, and Miami held off Chicago to improve to 10-0 at home this season.

Herro made three 3's in overtime and another with 7.1 seconds left in regulation just to help the Heat get into the extra session. His last 3-pointer gave Miami a three-point lead.

Jimmy Butler scored 23 points for the Heat, going 17 for 21 from the foul line. Bam Adebayo had 21 points, 13 rebounds and six assists for Miami, which also got 18 from Kendrick Nunn.

Lauri Markkanen had 13 of his team-high 22 points in the third quarter for the Bulls, who got 18 from Zach LaVine and 16 from Kris Dunn. Markkanen missed a potentially game-tying corner 3-pointer with about 1.5 seconds left in overtime.

    76ERS 110, RAPTORS 104

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Tobias Harris scored 26 points and rookie Matisse Thybulle had a career-high 20 points, including a pair of free throws with 23 seconds left, to lead Philadelphia past Toronto for its 12th straight home win.

Ben Simmons had 16 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists as the Sixers remained unbeaten at home this season.

Kyle Lowry, playing in his second game after missing 11 in a row due to a broken left thumb, scored 26 points, and OG Anunoby had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Toronto. The defending champion Raptors have lost three in a row.

Joel Embiid returned from a one-game absence due to a hip injury, finishing with 10 points and eight rebounds. Embiid was benched with 2:08 remaining after committing turnovers on three straight possessions that turned a seemingly easy victory into a tight one. He had seven of Philadelphia's 17 turnovers.

The Raptors, who trailed by as many as 20 points in the third quarter, got as close as five before Thybulle's two free throws with 26.3 seconds left sealed the deal.

    CLIPPERS 135, WIZARDS 119

WASHINGTON (AP) - Kawhi Leonard had 34 points and 11 rebounds and Los Angeles bounced back from its worst loss of the season with a win over Washington.

The victory came two days after Los Angeles opened the trip with a 119-91 loss at Eastern Conference-leading Milwaukee.

Washington's bench kept the game competitive for more than three quarters. Davis Bertans tied his season-high with 25 points, including six 3-pointers. Troy Brown Jr. scored a career-high 20 points.

Bradley Beal's 20 points were the most by a Washington starter and came off a difficult 5-for-18 shooting night.

                Tony Mejia

Game of the Night - Thunder at Jazz (-8/210.5), 9 p.m. ET

The Jazz dusted themselves off after absorbing a vicious 121-96 home rout last Wednesday by hammering the depleted Grizzlies on Saturday night, improving to 9-2 in Salt Lake City. Only the Clippers have worse disparity between home and away, so it’s important that a team still figuring one another out due to offseason turmoil handles business this week.

Utah visits Minnesota on Wednesday and will host Golden State and Orlando between now and Tuesday, so this is a manageable point in its schedule before the grind sets in since it will find itself on the road for seven of nine between Dec. 19-Jan. 6. The holidays are hard enough on teams, but spending the bulk of that time in hotels and different cities adds to the burden.

Despite a shaky start from point guard Mike Conley and struggles from a bench that has dealt with injuries and guys struggling to find their place, the Jazz opened Monday just two games behind the Nuggets after Denver’s upset loss in Brooklyn on Sunday. They’re one of only two teams in the division sporting a winning record and are part of a Western Conference top-six that unexpectedly includes the Mavericks but looks sturdy enough to hold serve as the main group that will compete for a Finals appearance.

To that end, visiting Oklahoma City is in that “other” group, but unlike say San Antonio, Portland or Minnesota, has actually performed better than expected. Following a 108-96 rout in Portland on Sunday night to open a four-game trip that culminates with games in Sacramento and Denver later this week, the Thunder are closing in on a .500 record when many expected that they would be bringing up the rear in the West.

Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum shot a combined 4-for-18 from 3-point range against the OKC perimeter defense while Carmelo Anthony made just one of his five looks from beyond the arc, finishing up 4-for-18. Guards Chris Paul, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and sixth man Dennis Schroder combined for 62 points, all getting at least 20, helping build a lead that ultimately reached 18 points.

Oklahoma City has now won four of its last five and is also on a 4-1 ‘under’ run, controlling games by slowing the pace and defending while leaning on savvy guard play and big men Steven Adams and Nerlens Noel to protect the paint. The Thunder have the highest-scoring effort against the mighty Lakers (in a 130-127 loss on Nov. 22) and have been tremendous against the spread since a Nov. 15 upset of the 76ers, coming in on an 8-3 covering the number.

The Thunder have cashed in five of seven as an outright underdog, the role they find themselves in tonight.

Meanwhile, the Jazz have failed to cover as a favorite in nine of 16 contests this season, including its season-opening 100-95 win against OKC. Unless you’re scared off by the Thunder being stuck in a back-to-back situation, this would seem like the ideal spot to clench your fist and take the points, especially with Conley still limited by a hamstring issue that kept him out the past few games and may linger into this week.

The typical starting five of Bojan Bogdanovic, Royce O’Neale, Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell and Conley has a terrific plus-minus, so monitor Conley’s availability before pulling the trigger here.

Conley shot 1-for-16 in that Oct. 23 season-opening Jazz win, which came on the strength of Mitchell shooting 14-for-22 and finishing with 32 points and 12 boards to fuel a fourth-quarter comeback. Paul and Gilgeous-Alexander combined for 48 points but neither Adams nor Noel played well, contributing to the Jazz being outscored 58-34 in the paint. How that duo deals with Gobert’s length will be telling here.

Oklahoma City swept all four of last season’s meetings with the Jazz, but that was obviously with Russell Westbrook leading the charge. The Thunder are 0-2 on the second night of back-to-backs but covered in a 116-112 loss at Houston and a 112-107 loss at the Lakers as double-digit ‘dogs.

                Best of the Rest

                L.A. Clippers (-1/217) at Indiana, 7:05 p.m. ET:
You have a better chance of suiting up for L.A. then Kawhi Leonard on the second night of a back-to-back after L.A. rebounded from its worst loss of the season by pulling away from the Wizards in D.C. Paul George has suited up on consecutive nights, doing so the last time the Clips were in this situation in blowout wins at Dallas and Memphis, so the expectation is that he’ll be out there in his old stomping grounds.

L.A.’s win over Washington was just its fourth in 10 road games and snapped a two-game skid outside Staples Center, but Doc Rivers has to be a little concerned that his team has surrendered 119 or more points in four of their last six outings. The ‘under’ has connected in three straight Pacers games, but they’re coming back after finishing a five-game road trip and will be playing at home for the first time all month. Indiana has won four consecutive home games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and hope to get back point guard Malcolm Brogdon, who is dealing with a hand injury and warmed up this weekend in New York before deciding he couldn’t go. Center Myles Turner helped swing the 104-103 win with his shot-blocking but Indy is still having issues on the boards that would really hurt them here. Look for L.A. to prioritize getting physical with he and Domantas Sabonis early, which creates an opportunity for Ivica Zubac to play a large role.

                Sacramento at Houston (-12.5/227), 8:05 p.m. ET:
The Kings improved to 4-9 on the road in winning in Dallas on Sunday but may find the goings much tougher here since the Rockets are 9-2 at the Toyota Center and have averaged 129 points there over their last five games. Russell Westbrook has looked increasingly comfortable of late and James Harden is rolling, so the Kings may have to fill it up offensively to hang around here. Sacramento got a career game from forward Nemanja Bjelica in Dallas and could get a huge boost with second-year forward Marvin Bagley potentially making his return from a broken thumb.

The Rockets won all four meetings last season, averaging 127 points per game in doing so. They won’t have to deal with pesky point guard De’Aaron Fox, who remains out a few weeks with an ankle injury. Sacramento is 0-2 on the second night of back-to-backs, suffering a 113-81 loss in Utah and nearly winning outright in Boston on Nov. 25.

                Orlando at Milwaukee (-12.5/218), 8:05 p.m. ET:
The Magic dominated the Bucks at Fiserv Forum 103-83 in their last visit to downtown Milwaukee, but Giannis Antetokounmpo didn’t suit up in that game. The Bucks have otherwise won six of seven since the start of 2018 against Orlando with its star in the lineup, losing a shootout the only time they fell. This matchup is always an interesting one since the brain trust that drafted the Greek Freak and put the bulk of Milwaukee’s team together has spent the last few seasons building up the Magic with some success.

Milwaukee has won and NBA-best 14 straight games and has covered in four straight, posting a ridiculous margin of victory of over 37 points. Although the Hornets, Knicks and Pistons were the first three victims, the Clippers are the fourth team that got destroyed and both Leonard and George were in the lineup. Milwaukee wn’t face a team with a winning record until next Monday when they host the Mavs to open a week in which they’ll host the Lakers in a nationally televised affair on Thursday night. Getting back All-Star guard Khris Middleton has made the team all the more imposing, so we’ll see if they can cover this number against a Magic team that prides itself on defense and owns a four-game win streak that has allowed them to climb back to .500.

Center Nikola Vucevic has missed the past few weeks with an ankle injury and won’t be back for this one, putting extra pressure on Khem Birch and Mo Bamba to continue protecting the paint. Head coach Steve Clifford has a number of strong athletes he can try throwing at Antetokounmpo, but both Jonathan Isaac and Aaron Gordon are smaller and must avoid foul trouble to give the visitors a chance. Orlando’s opponents during its current run have been the Warrior, Wizards, Suns and Cavs, so take its perfect December with a grain of salt. It will be interesting to see whether Markelle Fultz can continue progressing as the schedule intensifies since he’ll be playing the Lakers and Rockets at home later this week after dealing with Eric Bledsoe and the Bucks in this one.

                • Hayward scores 14 in return, Celtics beat Cavaliers 110-88
                  December 9, 2019
                  By The Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) Kemba Walker led Bostonâ??s balanced scoring with 22 points, Gordon Hayward had 14 points in his return from a broken hand and the Celtics remained unbeaten at home with a 110-88 victory over the sinking Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.

Jaylen Brown had 20 points and seven rebounds, Jayson Tatum added 19 points with 11 boards, and Daniel Theis scored 10 for Boston, which improved to 10-0 at TD Garden.

Jordan Clarkson led Cleveland with 19 points, and Tristan Thompson had 17 points with 11 rebounds. The Cavaliers have lost seven straight games and 13 of 14.

Hayward returned exactly a month after breaking his left hand when he collided with San Antonioâ??s LaMarcus Aldridge as the Spursâ?? big man was setting a screen. Hayward played 26 minutes, finishing with five rebounds and four assists.

He was expected to miss about six weeks. But he said this weekend the bone is healed and - thanks to a plate with screws - might even be stronger than it was before.

                  KINGS 119, ROCKETS 118

HOUSTON (AP) - Nemanja Bjelica made a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Sacramento over Houston.

The game was tied when Russell Westbrook drove into the lane for a layup that put Houston on top with a second to go. After a timeout, Cory Joseph inbounded the ball to Bjelica and his 3-pointer swished through the net to give the Kings the win and send the entire bench onto the court to celebrate.

Buddy Hield had 26 points to lead the Kings, who had six players score in double figures as they won their second straight after losing the previous three.

Westbrook had a season-high 34 points and James Harden added 27 points and 10 assists for Houston.

                  BUCKS 100, MAGIC 101

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Giannis Antetokounmpo had 32 points and 15 rebounds to lead Milwaukee to its 15th straight victory.

Khris Middleton scored 20 points for Milwaukee and Dante DiVincenzo added 12 points off the bench.

Evan Fournier had 26 points for the Magic, who had won four straight. Terrence Ross scored 23.

The Bucks had their first two shots of the game swatted away by Magic forward Jonathan Isaac, the leagueâ??s leading shot blocker. In all, Isaac recorded four blocks against four different players before the game was 8½ minutes old.

                  RAPTORS 93, BULLS 92

CHICAGO (AP) - Pascal Siakam scored 22 points, and Toronto held on to beat Chicago when Zach LaVine missed a runner in the closing seconds.

The defending NBA champions ended their first three-game skid since last November and beat Chicago for the 11th straight time. Norman Powell added 17 points for Toronto, including six in the fourth quarter.

LaVine scored 20 points for Chicago - all in the first half. Wendell Carter Jr. had 14 points for the Bulls, who made just 12 of 46 3-pointers on the way to their sixth loss in eight games.

Raptors guard Fred VanVleet missed the game because of a bruised right knee. Kyle Lowry scored 11 points in his third game after missing 11 in a row with a broken left thumb. The five-time All-Star made 1 of 8 3-pointers, and the Raptors hit 7 of 29 from beyond the arc.

                  CLIPPERS 110, PACERS 99

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Paul George scored 36 points in his first trip to Indianapolis with the Clippers and Montrezl Harrell added 26 to power short-handed Los Angeles Clippers past Indiana.

Booed repeatedly early in the game, George finished with a season-high seven 3-pointers as the Clippers won for the fourth time in five games.

Malcolm Brogdon led Indiana with 20 points despite playing with a splint on his sore shooting hand. Domantas Sabonis added 18 points and a career-high 22 rebounds as the Pacers lost their third home game of the season.

With Kawhi Leonard sitting out, George had the green light to take charge against his former team and he didn't disappoint.

                  PISTONS 105, PELICANS 103

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Derrick Rose hit a 14-foot jumper in the lane with 0.3 seconds left and scored 17 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to lift Detroit over New Orleans.

With the game tied, Detroit worked an isolation play for Rose, who dribbled the ball out top against Jrue Holiday. Rose drove into the lane, spun to the right and hit the jumper over Holiday's outstretched arms.

New Orleans inbounded the ball from halfcourt toward Jaxson Hayes, but the rookie center could not get the tying tip-in.

Brandon Ingram finished with a game-high 31 points, and Holiday had 20.

Detroit had three other players in double figures: Langston Galloway (16 points), Luke Kennard (14) and Andre Drummond (13).

                  THUNDER 104, JAZZ 90

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Dennis Schroder scored 27 points off the bench and Oklahoma City beat Utah.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 20 points and Chris Paul added 16 points and seven assists for the Thunder. Steven Adams chipped in with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Oklahoma City got a big lift from its bench and outscored the Utah reserves 45-23. The Thunder shot 47% from the field.

Donovan Mitchell scored 26 points to lead the Jazz. Rudy Gobert added 19 points and 17 rebounds. Utah lost for the sixth time in eight games.

                  SUNS 125, TIMBERWOLVES 109

PHOENIX (AP) - Devin Booker scored 26 points, Kelly Oubre Jr. added 24 on his 24th birthday and Phoenix beat Minnesota.

Oubre shot 8 of 15 from the field and made all six free throws, while Ricky Rubio finished with 16 points and 14 assists. The Suns won at home for the first time since Nov. 14, snapping a four-game losing streak at Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Dario Saric added 20 points for Phoenix. Rubio has had at least 13 assists in three straight games.

Minnesota lost its fifth in a row. The Timberwolves were led by Karl Anthony-Towns, who scored 33 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. He shot 12 of 18 from the field.

Andrew Wiggins added 23 points and Jeff Teague had 16 off the bench.

                  GRIZZLIES 110, WARRIORS 102

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Ja Morant returned to Memphisâ?? lineup and scored 26 points to lead the Grizzlies over Golden State.

The No. 2 pick in the draft added seven assists, two rebounds and a steal in 29 minutes after missing the previous four games with a sore back.

Dillon Brooks added 17 points and Jaren Jackson Jr. had 16 as the Grizzlies (7-16) won for just the second time in 11 games.

Dâ??Angelo Russell and Alec Burks each scored 18 for the Warriors (5-20), who were trying to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

                    Games to Watch

                    Tuesday – Nuggets at 76ers

Joel Embiid has revenge on his mind after Nikola Jokic knocked down a jumper to help complete a 21-point fourth-quarter comeback when these teams met on Nov. 8. Jokic outplayed him too, getting help to force Embiid into eight turnovers while finishing with 26 points, 11 boards and six assists.

That loss is tied for Philly’s second-lowest scoring output of the season, while the under is on a 7-2-1 run in Sixers’ games and has connected in five of six involving the Nuggets, who allow an NBA-low 101.9 points per game. Denver has been struggling to score itself and is in danger of dropping three of four on its current road trip. It has been held to 102 points or fewer in four of five.

                    Wednesday - Celtics at Pacers

Gordon Hayward returned on Monday in Boston’s blowout of the Cavs, making seven of 10 shots in 26 minutes. It’s always special for him to play in his hometown, so this should be a fun night for him against a Pacers team coming off a blowout loss thanks to Paul George blowing their doors off on his return to town. Indy point guard Malcolm Brogdon returned from his hand issue in Monday’s loss to the Clips, while Celtics’ glue guy Marcus Smart has been dealing with an eye infection and would be missed greatly on the defensive end if he can’t go.

                    Wednesday - Clippers at Raptors

Kawhi Leonard won’t take the night off here and will have an experience that will be completely different from returns to San Antonio where he’s booed lustily by fans who used to cheer him. A hero’s welcome awaits the 2019 Finals MVP, who will have to deal with a talented defensive front line he knows quite well when the action tips. L.A. will be looking to get to .500 on the road while the Raps aim to improve to 10-2 at the Air Canada Centre. Raps guard Fred VanVleet missed Monday’s win in Chicago with a swollen knee. His presence here would be crucial.

                    Thursday - 76ers at Celtics

Boston will look to remain perfect at home and will be seeking revenge after a 107-93 loss in Philly in the Oct. 23 season opener. Kemba Walker had a forgettable C’s debut in shooting 4-for-18, while Ben Simmons toyed with all defenders in finishing 11-for-16 from the field. The 76ers have a two-game winning streak in this series, the first time they’ve been able to say that since 2014 since their division rival had won 21 of 24 matchups between the teams. Hopefully Smart and Josh Richardson (hamstring) can get back in the mix for this one.

                    Thursday -Mavs vs. Pistons

Viva Mexico City, site for this one as the league continues to grow the game globally. Luka Doncic and the Mavs come off a loss in part because referees missed a foul call that could’ve gotten the Dallas star to the free-throw line to tie in a 110-106 loss to Sacramento that snapped the team’s five-game win streak on Sunday. Backup guard Delon Wright, who has quietly been a terrific asset for most of the season, was sorely missed as the bench struggled, so maybe the time off will allow him to return from a groin sprain. Derrick Rose helped the Pistons edge the Pelicans in New Orleans on Monday, giving Detroit three wins in four contests for the first time all season. Rick Carlisle and Dwane Casey are tight, so this should be a fun one south of the border.

                    Thursday - Blazers at Nuggets

Portland is really sliding and could use an upset, so it will be looking to catch Denver on its heels upon returning to town from its East coast swing. After losing Rodney Hood to a torn Achilles, the Blazers are really hurting for depth and will need kids like Anfernee Simons and Nassir Little to continue making strides without hitting the wall. Carmelo Anthony has struggled after his Player of the Week nod and Kent Bazemore’s energy has been called upon in the starting lineup to replace Hood. A favorable schedule should help Portland put together a win streak before Christmas, but it would help its cause to come up with an upset here since the team won’t play again until playing at Phoenix on Monday .

                    Friday – Rockets at Magic

Orlando was competitive in a loss at Milwaukee on Monday and has to host the Lakers on Wednesday, so this is a grueling week for a group still without center Nikola Vucevic. The Magic have dropped 11 of 14 against the Rockets since 2013, but all three wins have come at the Amway Center. Following a game in Cleveland on Wednesday to wash the stench of getting beat at the buzzer by Sacramento on Monday night away, Houston will be looking to straighten out following a shaky start on the road that has it behind the rest of the West’s top contenders.

                    Friday – Lakers at Heat

LeBron James returns to Miami to face former nemesis Jimmy Butler in what should be a great test for both teams. L.A. has raced out to a better start than anyone expected, while the Heat have similarly excelled beyond the wildest dreams of both. There will be great individual matchups to monitor here beyond James-Butler since Bam Adebayo has great defensive metrics and will look to stop Anthony Davis from getting going. The Heat got rocked at Staples Center when the teams played on Nov. 8, losing 95-80 in producing a season-low scoring output. This will be only Miami’s second outing as a home underdog and it beat the Rockets 129-100 the lone time it played that role. So long as the Heat hold serve against the Hawks on Wednesday, they’ll be 11-0 at home for the season entering this one.

                    Saturday - Heat at Mavericks

Both teams will have to move on quickly from their big games, so resiliency will be the key as we see Doncic try and deal with Butler and likely Justise Winslow on the wing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Slovenian national teammate Goran Dragic will return from a groin injury in time for this matchup.

                    Saturday – Thunder at Nuggets

Chris Paul and OKC will take a run of wins of five of six into Sacramento on Wednesday and will close out its fantastic road trip here. The Thunder will be playing the Nuggets for the first time and could be a difficult matchup since they protect the paint well and are led by excellent guard play.

                    Sunday – 76ers at Nets

Kyrie Irving could finally be back from his shoulder impingement, but Brooklyn has fared just fine without him, earning wins in nine of 12 entering Wednesday’s game against Charlotte that they’ll be favored to win. This will close out a tough back-to-back since the Nets have to play in Toronto on Saturday night, but the Sixers will also be closing out a challenging week as these Atlantic Division rivals meet for the first time this season.

                    Injuries to Monitor

Beyond the bumps and bruises mentioned above, the biggest question marks surround Jazz point guard Mike Conley, who is being cautious with a hamstring injury, and Lakers guard Rajon Rondo, who is acting similarly towards the same affliction. Avery Bradley has also been cleared to return to full-contact practices after suffering a hairline fracture in his leg, so L.A. could finally be at full strength towards the end of the week… Hornets rookie forward P.J. Washington is trying to return from a high ankle sprain… The Grizzlies saw star rookie point guard Ja Morant return from his back issue and lead them to victory at Golden State on Monday night, but small forward Kyle Anderson (heel) and rookie power forward Brandon Clarke (hip) remained sidelined. Guard Grayson Allen tweaked an ankle at the Chase Center and failed to return… New Orleans center Derrick Favors is still taking his time returning after losing his mother, working his way back emotionally to get up to play. After warming up on Monday, the expectation is that he’ll be back this week… Orlando’s Vucevic is back on the court as he attempts to return from a nasty ankle injury but the Magic are likely to be extremely cautious with him and aren’t likely to rush him back simply because the schedule is intensifying… Suns center Aron Baynes returned from a calf injury that had kept him out a few weeks, celebrating his birthday with Monday’s win over the visiting Timberwolves… Minnesota has Andrew Wiggins and Jeff Teague back in the fold after nagging injuries… Wizards center Thomas Bryant is out for a few weeks due to a foot injury and is sporting a walking boot. Point guard Isaiah Thomas strained his calf and will likely miss the week’s action, which is a shame because he was finally getting going.

                          • Tuesday's Tip Sheet
                            Kevin Rogers

                            Nuggets at 76ers (-4, 205 ½) – 8:05 PM EST – TNT

Three teams have yet to lose a home game in the NBA this season. The Celtics improved to 10-0 at TD Garden with a blowout of the Cavaliers on Monday. The Heat put their 10-0 home mark on the line against the Hawks, but the team owning the best home ledger in the NBA resides in Philadelphia. The 76ers (17-7 SU, 11-12-1 ATS) have yet to lose in 12 contests at Wells Fargo Center, while sitting one-half game behind the Celtics for the top spot in the Atlantic division.

The Sixers held off a furious Raptors’ rally in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 110-104 victory to avenge a five-point road loss in late November at Toronto. Tobias Harris paced Philadelphia with 26 points, while Matisse Thybulle scored a season-high 20 points off the bench to improve to 6-1 in the last seven games. The 76ers have cashed in five of their past seven contests at Wells Fargo Center following an 0-3 ATS run at home in mid-November.

The Nuggets (14-7 SU, 9-11-1 ATS) finish off a rough four-game road trip that began with promise, but has fallen flat of late. Denver roughed up New York at Madison Square Garden last Thursday, 129-92 as 8 ½-point favorites, but the Nuggets are coming off consecutive losses at Boston and Brooklyn. Following a 13-point defeat to the Celtics on Friday, the Nuggets dropped a 105-102 decision to the Nets on Sunday afternoon as 4 ½-point favorites.

Denver and Brooklyn went back and forth as the Nuggets took a 102-101 lead with 30 seconds remaining before the Nets scored the final four points of regulation. Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 24 points and 11 rebounds to post his second straight double-double following a rough five-game stretch in which he averaged 8.4 points per game. Denver has failed to cover in four of its past five contests, while the Nuggets are currently on a 7-2 run to the UNDER.

In the previous matchup at Pepsi Center on November 8, the 76ers built a seemingly insurmountable 86-65 advantage one minute into the fourth quarter. However, the Nuggets put together an incredible rally by outscoring the Sixers, 35-11 the rest of the way, capped off by Jokic’s jumper with 2.2 seconds remaining for the 100-97 stunner. The 76ers managed the cover as five-point underdogs, while the Nuggets beat Philadelphia for the second time in the past six matchups.

                            Wizards (-1 ½, 231) at Hornets – 7:05 PM EST

Both these Southeast squads are coming off consecutive losses as they try to snap their mini skids in Charlotte. The Wizards (7-15 SU, 12-9-1 ATS) are in a rare road favorite role as they have not closed as away chalk this season. Washington has lost five of its past six games away from D.C., while coming off a 135-119 home defeat to the Clippers on Sunday night as a 9 ½-point underdog. Thankfully, the Wizards are done with the Clippers after allowing a total of 285 points in two defeats to Los Angeles since the start of December.

The Hornets (8-17 SU, 12-13 ATS) are suffering through a rough homestand even though Charlotte has faced only one team with a winning record (Brooklyn). Charlotte melted down late in a five-point home loss to Phoenix, beat Golden State by 15 points, but dropped a seven-point decision to the Nets before falling to a Hawks’ team that had lost 11 of their previous 12 games. In Sunday’s 122-107 setback to Atlanta, the Hornets allowed 71 second half points, while leading scorer Devonte’ Graham was limited to 4-of-17 shooting from the floor and posted only 12 points.

Charlotte has put together a 5-5 ATS mark in the home underdog role this season, including four wins by three points or less. The last time the Hornets and Wizards hooked up on November 22 in D.C., Charlotte led, 107-94 as six-point underdogs with 9:25 remaining in the fourth quarter. But, Washington erased that 13-point deficit by outscoring Charlotte, 31-11 the rest of the way to pick up the improbable cover in a 125-118 triumph. Since the start of the 2017-18 season, the Hornets have won all four meetings with the Wizards, as three of those games have finished OVER the total.

                            Knicks at Blazers (-9, 218 ½) – 10:05 PM EST

Since beating the Cavaliers on November 18, New York (4-19 SU, 11-12 ATS) has dropped nine consecutive games and fired its head coach David Fizdale. The Knicks haven’t been terrible against the number this season, as they are coming off a home cover as 4 ½-point underdogs in a 104-103 setback to the Pacers on Saturday. This game was on pace for an OVER of 209 as Indiana led at halftime, 66-60, while the Pacers were up, 104-100 with 5:05 remaining. The two teams needed six points for the OVER and combined for three points the rest of the way for an inexplicable UNDER.

Now the Knicks venture out west to begin a four-game road swing that continues to Golden State on Wednesday, Sacramento on Friday, and Denver on Sunday. New York will face old friend Carmelo Anthony, who is averaging 15.9 points per game in 10 games since signing with Portland (9-15 SU, 10-13-1 ATS) last month. The Blazers finish off a four-game homestand after losing to the Lakers and Thunder the past two contests. Portland began the season with a 1-4 home mark prior to three consecutive wins over Oklahoma City, Chicago, and Sacramento, but have gone backwards with the last two losses.

The Blazers have captured the past five matchups with the Knicks since 2017, including three straight home wins by double-digits. However, New York covered in both meetings last season, as the Knicks barely cashed as 11-point underdogs in a 111-101 setback at Portland last January. The previous two road losses for the Knicks have come in blowout fashion as New York dropped a 28-point decision at Toronto and an ugly 44-point rout at the hands of Milwaukee last Monday.

                                BETTING ON A BAD DEFENSE

The Washington Wizards are 2.5-point favorites on the road as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Hornets, who have won five straight home games when the Wizards come to town.

The Wizards give up the highest points per game in the NBA allowing 122.5 on 49.6 percent shooting. In their prior meeting this season, Devonte' Graham was a factor, logging 19 points, six boards and seven dimes through 36 minutes of game time. He's shot the ball well all season and should thrive versus a Wizards defense giving up 25.2 points, and 9.1 assists to opposing point guards. Bet Over his points total of 18.5.

                                PERFECT AT HOME

The Philadelphia 76ers have won all 12 home games, going 7-5 against the spread. Today, they host the Denver Nuggets who have lost four of their last five games and have been held under 100 points in three of their most last five.

Both teams have been solid on the defensive end with the Nuggets ranking first overall in opponent points per game surrendering just 101.9 per contest, while the 76ers rank first in opponent points per game at home limiting them to 98.7. Neither team likes to push the pace, and with defense an emphasis for both teams, bet Under the game total of 208.5.

                                STARTING QUICK

The Atlanta Hawks have struggled recently, winning only twice in their last 13 games. Today, they travel to Miami to take on a Heat team who have won all 10 home games, where they are an impressive 8-2 ATS. The Heat have been perfect at home thanks to their defense, which is ranked fourth in opponent points per game at home with 101.3.

Miami has been really good early on in games, especially at home averaging the third highest first quarter points with 30.8. The Heat held opponents to a very low 23.8 points on their home court in the first quarter. Look for a fast start out of Miami and take them on the first quarter spread laying 2-points.

                                SHUTTING DOWN THE POINT

The Heat have been particularly good defending opposing point guards holding them to 19.6 points on 41.6 percent shooting and only 1.7 made 3-point shots. Trae Young is having himself a season averaging 28.8 points but has one of the lowest splits in terms of points per game when he goes up against the Heat - averaging 15.8 points per game over five games. Bet Under his points total of 28.5.

                                WINNING BIG AT HOME

The New York Knicks have lost nine straight games overall and nine of their last 10 on the road. Today, they visit a Portland Trail Blazers team who have won six of their last seven home games versus New York, and eight of the last 10 head-to-head meetings.

Portland has shot the ball well at home averaging 115.2 points per game, while the Knicks team rank last in points per game averaging 100.6. New York has been held under 100 points in four of their last six games and simply do not have the firepower to keep up with Portland. Take Portland to cover the 8.5-point spread.
