Game of the Night - Golden State at L.A. Clippers (-8, 204.5), NBATV, 10:35 ET

The Warriors open their busiest week of the season, playing five games between now and Sunday night. Stephen Curry, nursing an adductor strain, won’t play until Thursday’s game in Houston at the earliest and may miss the week entirely. Golden State will remain in Texas for a Saturday-Sunday back-to-back in Dallas and San Antonio, giving Curry an opportunity to return in one of those if he’s ready.

If you were to take a poll of the Brooklyn Nets, they would likely tell you he can afford to take the whole week off.

Cook burned them for 27 points on 11-for-16 shooting in Saturday’s 116-100 Warriors’ win that Curry watched from the bench. Draymond Green was sidelined too, dealing with a toe sprain that he can afford to take his time with. Jonas Jerebko replaced him in the starting lineup Saturday night, but head coach Steve Kerr also has Jordan Bell and Kevon Looney available in that spot.

Most important, he’s got Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson raising their level because they’re getting the looks that they typically have to share with their All-Star teammates, so expect them to be highly engaged in the short term. It’s one thing to have to be the lynchpin over the course of 82 games, but for a four-to-five game stretch, being able to find a more sustained in-game rhythm offers a great change of pace for Durant and Thompson. The duo combined to shoot 20-for-35 against Brooklyn, which had come into Oakland on a three-game winning streak and looks much improved. They hit exactly half of their six 3-pointers and sat out most of the fourth since Cook bested them both in filling Curry’s role, finishing 11-for-16 and hitting 3-for-5 from 3-point range in scoring a season-high 27 points despite not being utilized much this season.

Count on him being a big part of the Warriors’ week, which begins against the team currently running second in the Pacific, the L.A. Clippers. Doc Rivers has done a nice job with his new-look group in the early going, working in center Boban Marjanovic and impressive rookie Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Forward Tobias Harris and wing Danilo Gallinari have been consistent go-to scorers, but L.A. relies heavily on its depth to wear teams down due to the presence of reigning top Sixth Man Lou Williams and physical power forward Montrezl Harrell on the second unit.

Those two made the difference in the Clippers’ most impressive win of the season, a 128-126 OT upset of a Bucks team that crushed Golden State 134-111 on Thursday night in the game where Curry suffered his groin injury. Milwaukee rebounded from the loss at Staples by taking down the team that currently has the third-best record in the West, the Nuggets, defeating them in Denver on Sunday night.

Harrell led the way with 26 points and nine boards, dominating with his tenacity. Williams, who said afterward that he played terribly, won it with an impossible-looking floater just before the final buzzer to end up with 12 points and 10 assists. The Clippers may not be among the teams you think of when listing off Golden State’s biggest challengers out West – they’re second in their own city – but this group they’ve assembled doesn’t back down easily. This contest should be just as difficult as their endeavor into the NBA’s “Texas Triangle,” which has presented a major obstacle for decades given the sustained strength of the Spurs, Mavericks and Rockets all these years.

The Warriors-Clippers rivalry no longer has the same feel with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin now elsewhere, so we’ll see what effect that has on their first meeting of the 2018-19 season. This used to be a game Golden State had circled on its schedule, which is why it has won 13 of 14 in the series since the start of 2015. Without Curry and potentially Green in the mix, the Dubs should still be favored, but the number shouldn’t be more than a couple of points. The ‘under’ has prevailed in three the last four games for both teams.

      The card
Orlando at Washington, 7:05 p.m. ET:
The Magic just beat the Wizards on Friday night, but have since lost Aaron Gordon to an ankle sprain sufferered in practice that could keep him out here. Orlando's top forward was held out last night's 115-89 win in New York that was over after a 30-10 first-quarter posted by the visitors. Nikola Vucevic and Evan Fournier led the way, but it was a collective effort that stifled the Knicks throughout. Rookie Mo Bamba has begun to find some consistency and is fortifying a second unit that has the potential to really become a factor.

The Wizards trailed by as many as 25 points in Orlando despite strong play from Kelly Oubre and Jeff Green off the bench but bounced back with a win in Miami on Saturday and saw Austin Rivers contribute 18 points off the bench. It's imperative that the Wizards get their top eight to find some consistency, but Otto Porter, Jr. continues to underachieve and the talk of moving John Wall to shake things up and pull the plug on this current group has intensified.

Philadelphia at Miami, 7:35 p.m. ET:
Jimmy Butler has been acquired by the 76ers in a move we'll dissect more over the coming days in terms of long-term impact and short-term betting advantages, but he's out of the equation tonight. The 76ers will have to play shorthanded once again after doing so on Saturday night when they squandered a late lead in Memphis. Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons led the way while guards J.J. Redick, T.J. McConnell and Landry Shamet enjoyed heightened roles setting the table, so look for that to again be the case tonight. Notice you didn't read Markelle Fultz's name. He got less than 25 minutes of playing time despite the opportunity to carve out more. Furkan Korkmaz and Jonah Bolden were dusted off to absorb some of the loss with starting forwards Robert Covington and Dario Saric dealt, but it appears Philly will go small until Butler is set to join the lineup.

The Heat are cautiously optimistic that the Hassan Whiteside who showed up last week will continue to dominate without sabotaging himself via bad shots or stupid fouls, but there's no question the team has an edge when he taps into his vast potential. Dwyane Wade has been away from the team after becoming a father again, while Goran Dragic has been in and out of the mix with a sore knee but looks healthy enough to be counted on here. Josh Richardson has taken advantage of the absence of Dragic and Wade to take more of an ownership role in the offense that will hopefully carry forward.

            Adjusting to new lineups

The Philadelphia 76ers, winners of six of their last nine games travel to Miami to take on the Heat who have lost five of their last seven. Philadelphia at 8-6 have really struggled to get things going away from home posting a 7-0 record on their own court, but 1-6 away on the road.

The 76ers will be short handed until Jimmy Butler is ready to play, and the trade is official (likely Wednesday night), as the 76ers traded two starters in Dario Saric and Robert Covington away. The Heat will also be without two key role players in Dwyane Wade and James Johnson. With both teams not at their best, the Under 220.5 looks like an intriguing play.

            Stepping up for the Pels

The 6-6 New Orleans Pelicans travel to Toronto to take on the 12-1 Raptors. The Pelicans are averaging 117.7 points on 47.8 percent shooting and allowing 117 points on 46.8 percent shooting. They are led by two 20+ point scorers in Anthony Davis averaging 24.6 points, and 12.1 rebounds, and Nikola Mirotic’s 20.6 points and 11.7 rebounds per contest.

The Raptors, winners of six straight, enter today averaging 117.9 points per contest on 49.3 percent shooting. Defensively, they are allowing 108.1 points per game on 43.5 percent shooting. They are led by Kawhi Leonard’s 24.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

With Nikola Mirotic on the injury report for the Pelicans, listed as probable for tonight’s contest with an ankle injury, look into someone else to potentially step up for the Pels in terms of scoring. While the Raptors defensively have been really good, the weak spot for their team is defending opposing shooting guards allowing an average of 25 points per game, 3.7 made three-point shots, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists. Shooting guard E’Twaun Moore is coming off a 17 point shooting performance versus Phoenix. His field goal percent is way up this year from 45.8 percent to 53.8. Take his points total Over 10.5.

            Closely contested matchup

The Chicago Bulls host the Dallas Mavericks at United Center. The Mavs have won two straight contests and enter today scoring 110.8 points per game on 45.8 percent shooting and defensively they are surrendering 113.7 points per game. Chicago enter tonight managing to score 106.5 points per contest on 45.4 percent shooting. They surrender 113.1 points per game.

Head-to-head, Dallas is 4-1 SU over their last five games in Chicago, but 0-5 SU over their last five road games. The Under has hit in 11 of 16 meetings between these two, with the Under hitting in seven of the last eight.

The injury reports for both teams are fully loaded with Chicago having Bobby Portis, Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn all out for another 4-6 weeks at least. The Mavericks will be without Dirk Nowitzki again, and have Wesley Matthews and Luka Doncic questionable for the contest.

In what projects to be a close game, look into Dennis Smith Jr.’s points, rebounds and assists total as last year he had some great shooting nights versus the Bulls. In their first matchup he shot 6 of 12 from the field, 2 of 4 from beyond the arc and contributed 2 rebounds and 7 assists for 15 points. In their second meeting, he shot 9 of 17 from the floor, 2 of 3 from beyond the arc for 25 points. Take Over on his points, rebounds, and assists.

Trends not in the King’s favor

The 7-4 San Antonio Spurs travel to Sacramento to take on the 7-6 Kings. San Antonio has scored 109.5 points per game on 44.9 percent shooting. They are surrendering 107.9 points per game and led by DeMar DeRozan’s 25.2 points per contest. For Sacramento, they enter averaging 115.3 points per game on 48 percent shooting and surrender 116.8 points per game. They are led by Buddy Hield’s 19.1 points per game.

The Spurs have always been a dominant home team, but on the road, they have really struggled this year posting a 2-2 record. They should be feeling confident today as they travel to Sacramento to take on a Kings’ team who they have historically dominated winning 14 straight times, including seven in a row in Sacramento at Golden 1 Center. They have held the Kings to 105 points or fewer in all 14 games of their winning streak. There is no reason to think the trend won’t continue and the Spurs make it 15 straight. Take the Spurs as 2.5-point favorites.

            Sweet Lou

No surprise the highest total of the night of 228 is what we find in the late night matchup where the Golden State Warriors travel to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers. The Warriors have won eight of their last nine contests averaging 121.9 points on 51.9 percent shooting. They are allowing 110.8 points per game and are led by Stephen Curry’s 29.5 points per game. Unfortunately they will be without Curry who is out with a groin strain. They might also be without Draymond Green who is listed as day-to-day.

The Los Angeles Clippers enter today averaging 116.3 points per game on 47.3 percent shooting. They are surrendering 111.7 points per contest. They will be without Avery Bradley and Luc Mbah a Moute. Despite all the injuries on the Golden State Warriors, the Clippers still find themselves as 3.5-point underdogs at home.

The Clippers’ Lou Williams has always loved moments like these and has thrived versus Golden State. Last year in their meeting at Golden State, Lou Williams shot 16 of 27 from the floor, including 8 of 16 from beyond the arc. He added to the monster stat line with two rebounds and seven assists. This was his only 50-point game of the season. You know he’s going to be feeling well playing versus an injury depleted Warriors team, and confidence should be high. Take Over his points, rebounds, and assists total of 27.5.

              • Timberwolves beat Nets after LeVert's gruesome injury
                November 12, 2018
                By The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Karl-Anthony Towns had 25 points and a season-high 21 rebounds, and the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Brooklyn Nets 120-113 on Monday after finally trading Jimmy Butler.

The Nets lost leading scorer Caris LeVert to what appeared to be a severe right leg injury late in the first half.

Jeff Teague returned from a six-game absence to score 24 points for Minnesota, which snapped a five-game losing streak.

The Timberwolves officially dealt Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, along with big man Justin Patton. The Wolves received Robert Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick in the trade.

LeVert's gruesome injury brought the entire crowd at Target Center to a silence. LeVert spent several minutes on the court being attended by medical personnel. Timberwolves players huddled in prayer while Nets players surrounded their injured teammate before he was wheeled off the court.

D'Angelo Russell made a career-high nine 3-pointers and scored 31 points for the Nets, who shot a season-worst 39.6 percent from the field.

                PELICANS 126, RAPTORS 110

TORONTO (AP) - Anthony Davis had 25 points and a season-high 20 rebounds, E'Twaun Moore scored a season-high 30 points and New Orleans snapped Toronto's six-game winning streak.

Jrue Holiday had 29 points and matched a season high with 14 assists, and Julius Randle added 17 points and 12 rebounds as New Orleans won its third straight following a six-game losing streak.

The Pelicans outscored the Raptors 72-42 in the paint and snapped a six-game losing streak against Toronto.

Pascal Siakam scored 22 points, Kawhi Leonard had 20 and Serge Ibaka had 19 points and 14 rebounds as the Raptors lost for the first time in eight home games this season. Toronto entered with an NBA-best 12-1 record.

                76ERS 124, HEAT 114

MIAMI (AP) - Joel Embiid scored 35 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, and Philadelphia added to Miami's early-season struggles.

The win came hours after the 76ers finalized a trade with Minnesota to land four-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, who was in Philadelphia and not with the club in Miami. Butler will be introduced at the 76ers' facility in Camden, New Jersey, on Tuesday, before he flies to Orlando and makes his debut with Philly on Wednesday night against the Magic.

JJ Redick scored 25 points, Furkan Korkmaz scored 16 and Ben Simmons and Mike Muscala each had 13 for Philadelphia.

Goran Dragic scored 22 points for Miami, which got 17 from Josh Richardson and 14 from Wayne Ellington. The Heat have dropped three straight, all of them at home.

                JAZZ 96, GRIZZLIES 88

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Joe Ingles scored 19 points, Rudy Gobert added 15 points and 16 rebounds and Utah won its third straight.

The Jazz broke open a close game in the final six minutes with a 14-5 run. Gobert had eight points in the stretch as Utah built its lead to 11 points in the late stages.

Derrick Favors and Donovan Mitchell finished with 12 points apiece for Utah.

Mike Conley led Memphis with 24 points, while Marc Gasol added 16. Jaren Jackson Jr. and MarShon Brooks finished with 10 points each, and Jackson had 11 rebounds.

The loss was the first at home for Memphis this season.

                THUNDER 118, SUNS 101

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Paul George matched his season high with 32 points and went 6 of 10 from 3-point range, Dennis Schroder added 20 points and nine assists, and Oklahoma City beat Phoenix.

The Thunder have won eight of their last nine games after a 0-4 start while the Suns have lost four straight and 11 of their last 12. Two of those losses have come in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City scored 22 straight points in the first quarter, holding the Suns scoreless for nearly seven minutes, to take a 24-5 lead. The Thunder never trailed again and led by as many as 28 points in the second quarter before settling for a 64-40 halftime lead.

T.J. Warren led the Suns with 21 points while Devin Booker had 19 points and six assists.

WASHINGTON (AP) - John Wall had 25 points and 10 assists, Bradley Beal added 21 points and Washington won consecutive games for the first time this season, beating Orlando.

Jeff Green added 18 points off the bench on 6-of-7 shooting for Washington, which lost at Orlando on Friday night to fall to 2-9 before winning at Miami.

The Wizards made 24 free throws on 33 attempts, 22 more than the Magic earned, and out-rebounded the visitors 41-34.

Terrence Ross scored 21 points off the bench to lead Orlando, which saw a two-game winning streak snapped.

                MAVERICKS 103, BULLS 98

CHICAGO (AP) - Harrison Barnes scored a season-high 23 points and Dallas overcame a sluggish performance by prized rookie Luka Doncic to beat Chicago.

Doncic, the leading scorers among NBA rookies, shot 3 for 12 and finished with 11 points as Dallas won for the third time in four games after a six-game skid. J.J. Barea added 14 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Zach LaVine led Chicago with 26 points. Jabari Parker scored all but two of his 16 points in the second half.

                    13) According to people who know such things, Rams-Chiefs’ total of 63.5 Monday night in Mexico City will be the highest total in NFL history.

Of the 14 NFL games that have had totals of 58+, 11 games went over, 3 stayed under- the favorite won 13 of the 14 games SU.

Previous highest total was 62 (Rams-49ers in 2000).

                    12) Before this year’s schedule was made, Rams-Chiefs both requested to play in Denver this past week, to get ready for the high altitude in Mexico City; the NFL obviously turned both teams down. Rams are practicing at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs this week, so they’ll be cold but maybe it’ll help on Monday night.

Rams by the way, appear to be playing a preseason game next summer in Hawai’i.

                    11) Brook Lopez is a 7-foot center for the Milwaukee Bucks; in his last two games, Lopez is 14-25 outside the arc- he made six treys in the third quarter alone Sunday in Denver.

This is all very strange; in his first eight years in the NBA, Lopez was a combined 3-31 behind the arc, which made sense, the guy is a 7-foot center. But then he worked on his shooting.

In the last three years, here are Lopez’ 3-point numbers, in his 9th-11th years in the NBA:
                    2016-17: 134-387, 34.6%
                    2017-18: 112-325, 34.5%
                    2018-19: 39-93, 41.9%

                    10) Sounds the Baltimore Ravens will ask coach John Harbaugh to take a hike after this season; curious to see what direction they’ll go in from here. Would Harbaugh be a good fit at USC, or is former Cal coach Jeff Tedford (Aaron Rodgers’ college coach) the front runner there?

Would the Jets dump Todd Bowles and hire Harbaugh if he was available?

                    9) Louisville fired football coach Bobby Petrino Sunday morning; this is the Cardinals’ first losing season since 2009, but it has been a dreadful season. Louisville lost its last seven games, is 2-8- they’re 1-8 vs spread, so they’ve been non-competitive. Petrino will get $14M to go away; the rich boosters that pay the tab for this stuff must be very impatient people.

News of the firing came during Petrino’s TV show Sunday morning and ran on a crawl on the bottom of the screen, which seems a little bit cold-hearted.

Then again, if Rick Pitino wins his legal claim with Louisville they could owe him $44M, which means the school would owe $56M to coaches…..who don’t work there anymore.

                    8) First true road game for Duke’s basketball team is on the 8th……..of January. They play five games on neutral courts before then, but zero true road games.

                    7) New Jersey Giants cut OL Patrick Omameh, who signed a three-year, $15M contract in the offseason; pretty big blunder, but maybe they think signing Jamon Brown off the scrap heap makes up for it, at least partially.

                    6) Jimmer Fredette scored 75 points in a Chinese League game Sunday; his team lost 137-136. He was 7-10 on the arc, 17-24 inside the arc. wonder how many points his guy scored?

                    5) Some good news: 48.5% of eligible voters showed up and voted last week, the highest midterm turnout in any election since 1966.

                    4) Paul Pierce said on TV the other day that Duke could beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, which is an interesting debate. I would disagree with him on that, but the fact that it is even a debate is sad for Cleveland basketball fans.

                    3) Florida voted down greyhound racing earlier this month; I went to the dog races couple of times in Florida, never understood why anyone would wager on them. Fun to watch, it was a decent afternoon out, but horse races are a lot more fun.

                    2) Lions’ QB Matthew Stafford turns 31 in February; he is a good player, but this is his 10th year in the NFL and his career playoff record is 0-3. His regular season record is 63-71. He makes $27M a year.

My question is this; if you’re trying to make the Lions better, do you trade Stafford for draft picks and try to strengthen the rest of the team? Stafford could still bring a pretty good haul in a deal- look around, good QB’s aren’t exactly everywhere, or does Detroit commit to Stafford for the rest of his career and hope that suddenly everyone around him starts playing better?

                    1) West Virginia’s basketball team has a freshman guard from Wisconsin named Jordan McCabe; when the kid was 12 years old, his dribbling skills were so advanced that he appeared with the Harlem Globetrotters one night, and also did his dribbling thing on the Ellen TV show.

Not a lot of people can say they worked for Ellen DeGeneres and Bob Huggins.

                    • Games to Watch - Week 5

It’s still very early in the NBA season, but it already looks as though we are going to get a rather entertaining battle in the Western Conference. The Golden State Warriors are at the top, as we all expected, but there is not a huge gap between them and the other seven teams in the playoff spots right now.

Things are a little more lopsided in the East, with the Raptors looking the team to beat in the early going. Things may change up this week, as we once again have a very busy schedule on tap.

Let’s look ahead at some of the better games on the NBA calendar this week.

Tuesday - Houston Rockets at Denver Nuggets

What exactly is going on with the Houston Rockets this season? This was the team that won the Western Conference last season and who were expected to challenge for it again this year. As of now, they are 2 games below .500 and sitting below the playoff line. They have been better on the road, though, going 4-3 thus far. The Nuggets are up in the #3 spot with a 9-4 record, but they are starting this week on a 3-game losing skid. They have also lost their last 7 meetings with Houston, so we may just see the Rockets get this week started with a win.

Wednesday - Portland Trail Blazers at Los Angeles Lakers

While we may still be very early in the season, a weird scheduling quirk has seen these two teams hook up twice already, splitting those earlier games. It was the Lakers who won the last meeting, bringing an end to a 16-game losing streak at the hands of the Trail Blazers in the process. This will be the first meeting between these two in LA this season, which may just give a slight edge to the Lakers. That said, Portland have a decent 3-1 road record to start the season and are also on a 4-game winning streak. I am on Portland to get the win here.

Thursday - Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets

It’s a little surprising not to see these two teams battling it out for the top spot in the Western Conference right now, but with the Rockets entering the week a couple of games below .500, it looks as though we might not see that battle at all this season. The Warriors are once again off to a great start, going 11-2 through their first 13 games, which includes a 4-1 record on the road. The Rockets have been pretty awful at home, going just 1-4 through their first 5 games there. This looks like a win for the Warriors.

                          • Tuesday's Tip Sheet
                            Kevin Rogers

Game of the Night: Rockets at Nuggets – 9:05 PM EST

It’s been a tough encore season for Houston (5-7 SU, 4-8 ATS), who owned the top record in the NBA last season at 65-17. The Rockets started 1-5, but rebounded with three consecutive victories at Brooklyn, Chicago, and Indiana. Houston couldn’t quite reach the .500 mark as the sputtering offense was limited to 80 points at Oklahoma City and 89 points at San Antonio in a pair of low-scoring losses.

The Rockets’ offense got back on track at home on Sunday in a 115-103 triumph over the Pacers to grab the season sweep of Indiana. Houston finally picked up its first cover at Toyota Center in five tries this season, highlighted by a 44-point second quarter. James Harden posted his best offensive performance of the season with 40 points, including hitting eight three-pointers. Last season’s MVP bounced back from a horrific shooting effort in Saturday’s loss at San Antonio in which Harden converted only 1-of-13 attempts from downtown.

The Nuggets (9-4 SU, 7-6 ATS) stormed out to a red-hot 9-1 start, but have stumbled of late by dropping three consecutive games. After losing in the final seconds at Memphis last Wednesday, Denver was stunned at home by Brooklyn, followed by a seven-point defeat at Pepsi Center to Milwaukee. Paul Millsap paced the Nuggets with 25 points and Denver drilled 18 three-pointers on Sunday night, but allowed the Bucks to shoot 57% from the floor as the Nuggets hit back-to-back OVERS for the first time this season.

This series has been owned by the Rockets recently as Houston has won seven consecutive matchups, including a three-game sweep last season. In the lone meeting at Pepsi Center, Houston jumped out to a 13-point lead after one quarter and held off Denver, 119-114 to cash as 4 ½-point road favorites. Harden led the way with 41 points, while Chris Paul chipped in 23 points for the Rockets, who have won in each of the past three visits to Denver.

                            Quick Turnaround

The Warriors (11-3 SU, 8-6 ATS) lost for the second time in three games following a 10-1 start as Golden State plays with no rest against Atlanta. The defending champions rallied from a nine-point deficit to force overtime last night against the Clippers, but L.A. picked up the 121-116 triumph as 3 ½-point underdogs. Kevin Durant paced the Warriors with a triple-double (33 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists), while Klay Thompson scored 31 points as he attempted 31 field goals.

Stephen Curry sat out for the second straight game with a groin injury, as the two-time MVP will not suit up tonight. Golden State has actually fared better as a heavy favorite this season by owning an 8-2 ATS mark when laying at least seven points (0-4 ATS as a six-point favorite or less). The Warriors head back on the highway for three games starting Thursday in Texas, as Golden State hooks up with Houston in a Western Conference Finals rematch.

The Hawks (3-10 SU, 5-8 ATS) continue a four-game road swing after dropping a one-point decision to the Lakers on Sunday night. Atlanta grabbed the cover as 11-point underdogs, but the Hawks lost for the eighth time in nine games. Rookie Trae Young registered his fifth double-double of the season by scoring 20 points and dishing out 12 assists against Los Angeles, as Atlanta cashed in its second straight opportunity as a double-digit ‘dog.

Golden State has won seven consecutive meetings with Atlanta since March 2015, as the Hawks have covered in two of their past three meetings at Oracle Arena. The Warriors have stepped up with no rest this season by blasting the Suns by 20 points and crushing the Bulls by 25 points last month.

                            End of the Road

The Hornets (7-6 SU, 9-4 ATS) wrap up their three-game road trip as Charlotte tries to pick up back-to-back wins for the third time this season. After falling short in overtime at Philadelphia on Friday, 133-132, the Hornets rebounded by knocking off the Pistons on Sunday, 113-103. Charlotte pulled away in the second half thanks to Kemba Walker’s 24 points, while veteran guard Tony Parker put up 24 points off the bench for the Hornets’ second consecutive cover.

Charlotte is flipped to a road favorite tonight at Cleveland as the Cavaliers (1-11 SU, 6-6 ATS) are seeking their first victory of November. The Cavs rallied from an early 14-point deficit against the Bulls on Saturday, but lost a 99-98 decision at the United Center as 4 ½-point underdogs. The backcourt duo of Collin Sexton and Rodney Hood each scored 20 points, while Cleveland outrebounded Chicago, 53-38 in the loss.

The Cavaliers are riding a five-game UNDER streak, while scoring 98 points or fewer four times in this stretch. Cleveland’s worst loss of the season came at Charlotte on November 3 in a 126-94 setback as 9 ½-point underdogs. The Hornets scorched the Cavs for 57% shooting from the floor, as seven Charlotte players finished in double-figures. Cleveland owns an 0-3 SU/ATS mark as a home underdog this season, while Charlotte lost in its last road favorite opportunity at Chicago on October 24.
