    Armadillo: Sunday's six-pack

-- Golden State 108, Oklahoma City 101-- Klay Thompson scored 41 points, as Warriors force Game 7 Monday night in Oakland. .

-- Still is weird to me how close NBA fans are to the players in the heat of a game. Fans sit so close to the fans/coaches; surprising there aren't more incidents.

-- If you're watching the Indy 500 today, the #15 car, driven by Graham Rahal, is owned by David Letterman, who now wears a full beard and looks very different.

-- Braves 7, Marlins 2-- Miami is 25-24 and on fringe of contention, but they're 0-5 against the 14-34 Braves. No bueno.

-- In the last eight seasons before this one, Troy Tulowitzki played in a total of 785 games, an average of 98.1 per year. he went on the DL again this weekend. He makes $20M a year; who would pay a guy that much who only plays half the time?

-- If these three choices were on the ballot in November, how much would c) win by? a) Trump b) Hillary c) Start over with two different candidates?

    **********

Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday......

    13) Weird day/night at the ballpark Saturday. Umps threw Noah Syndergaard out in the third inning for throwing a ball a foot or two behind Chase Utley. Apparently no warnings had been issued before this series, so the ejection was unexpected, and Mets manager Terry Collins got tossed as a result.

    12) The pitch was obviously intentional, but not only did it not hit Utley, it didn't come that close to him. If the umps warn both dugouts and play on, it ends there. The micromanaging that baseball does with umpires does not help the game.

Lot of people paid a lot of money to watch that game, and they got cheated out of watching it. No one pays to watch the umpires do their job.

    11) The Mets-Utley thing goes back to LY's playoffs, when Utley slid hard into second base and broke SS Ruben Tejada's leg. Ironically, Tejada was DFA'd by the Cardinals Saturday.

    10) Utley tied Friday night's game with a bases loaded double, then put LA with a sixth inning homer last night, then hit a grand slam later in the game. Wonder what the TV executives at FOX think about the Mets' star Syndergaard getting tossed in the third inning of a national TV game?

    9) One last Dodger note: 19-year old Julio Urias was sent back to AAA after making his MLB debut Friday night. He is on an innings limit this year, anyway.

    8) Royals 8, White Sox 7-- Brutal loss for Chicago, which led 7-1 in 9th inning but this catastrophic loss means they are now 4-12 in their last 16 games.

    7) Reds 7, Brewers 6-- Milwaukee led 6-1 in 7th inning, but Reds rallied to win and broke their 12-game losing streak. Winning run came after a replay review overturned a Brewer double play that would've ended the top of the 9th with game tied.

    6) Blue Jays 10, Red Sox 9-- Boston's bullpen gave up six runs in 2.1 IP, blowing leads in both 8th/9th innings.

    5) Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker was 2-5, 8.80 in his first seven starts this year, with 62 misses on 261 swings (23.8%), and 22 strikeouts in 29.2 IP. Not good.

In two starts since then, Shoemaker is 1-0, 1.15 in two starts, with 23 strikeouts in 15.2 IP and 48 misses on 117 swings (41.0%). Wonder what he changed?

    4) Juan Lagares hit an opposite field homer Friday, then hit another one last night as a pinch-hitter. First thing that flashed thru my mind after his homer Friday, was that he is going to be drug tested and real soon. Mets TV announcers seemed stunned when the ball went over the right field fence.

    3) Speaking of Mets' TV, Ron Darling told a story on TV Friday about when he retired, a guy came up to him and hugged him, telling Darling that he had bet on the Mets every game Darling started one season and the Mets had won so many of those games that the guy took the money and bought a house that he still lived in.

    2) John Smoltz was good on TV Saturday, talking about Matt Harvey's struggles on the mound, and how as a starting pitcher, it is not fun if you're having a lousy season. Smotz was 2-11 at the All-Star break one year; he talked about that and how he had to basically re-boot in the second half, which he did. Good stuff.

    1) A 23-year old young man who played for the New Orleans Pelicans was shot and killed in Dallas this weekend. According to police reports, he was somewhere he was not supposed to be-- he got shot and he died.

Our world is going crazy and I'm not even sure it is slowly going crazy. Something has to be done about gun violence and violence in general. There is a lack of respect for people's boundaries, and when that happens, regrettable things happen.

Monday's NBA Conference Finals Game 7 betting preview and odds: Thunder at Warriors
          ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When this series began, we all hoped it would go the full seven games for pure entertainment value. We get our wish granted Monday night in Oakland.

Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors (-7, 218)

          Series tied 3-3

The Golden State Warriors turned to their stars down the stretch in Game 6, and Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry delivered a Game 7. The Warriors will have the chance to close out the Western Conference finals and advance to the NBA Finals for the second straight year when they host the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 on Monday.

Golden State looked beaten and broken after getting crushed in Games 3 and 4 to fall into a 3-1 hole in the series, but a tough win at home in Game 5 coupled with a transcendent performance from Thompson in Game 6 knotted it back at three wins apiece. “We played for each other,” Thompson told reporters after burying an NBA playoff-record 11 3-pointers in the 108-101 win. “… It was just so much fun to play with the fire and emotion we did for the whole 48 minutes.” The Thunder held a seven-point lead with five minutes left on Sunday but were outscored 19-5 the rest of the way and committed six turnovers in that span. “I felt like we didn’t do a great job coming down the stretch,” Oklahoma City coach Billy Donovan told reporters. “We got a little stagnant coming down the stretch. Defensively, we were a little bit late, but they made some tough shots and made some plays.”

          TV:
          9 p.m. ET, TNT

          LINE HISTORY:
The Warriors opened as 7.5-point favorites at most shops immediately following Game 6 on Saturday night, however, after only a couple of hours at that number the line was moved back to -7. The total opened at 219 but the public bet the Under and forced the books to lower the number by by a full point down to 218. Check out the complete line history here.

          ABOUT THE THUNDER (66-33, 47-51-1 ATS, 47-52 O/U):
Oklahoma City already has one win at Golden State under its belt in the series and believes it can overcome the devastation of dropping Game 6 at home. “We know exactly what they do, they know exactly what we do,” Kevin Durant told. “It’s just a matter of who wants it more. Both teams went out there and played extremely hard (in Game 6). They made more shots than we did, especially from the three. That’s the name of the game.” Durant and Russell Westbrook combined for 57 points but went 1-of-13 from 3-point range in the loss and 3-of-14 from the field in the fourth quarter.

          ABOUT THE WARRIORS (84-14, 55-41-2 ATS, 52-45-1 O/U):
Golden State outscored the Thunder 63-9 from 3-point range led by Thompson, who buried a flat-footed 3-pointer from over 28 feet away at the top of the key and nailed another in transition to provide the go-ahead bucket in the late-game surge. "Obviously, Klay Thompson was ridiculous," Golden State coach Steve Kerr told reporters. "The shooting was some of the most incredible shooting you'll ever see." Curry added 29 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists and found his shot late with a pair of 3-pointers and a runner on the right side of the lane that sealed it in the final seconds.

          TRENDS:

          * Thunder are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss.
          * Warriors are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games.
          * Under is 5-1 in Thunder last 6 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
          * Under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Golden State.
          * Thunder are 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Golden State.

          CONSENSUS:
The early returns for the Consensus are showing a 50/50 split on the point spread and 65 percent of wagers on the Over.
