    Armadillo: Tuesday's six-pack

-- Miami 94, Toronto 87 OT-- Good night for Commissioner Silver's league.

-- Golden State 132, Portland 125 OT-- A great, great basketball game.

-- Steph Curry is listed at 6-3, 190. You can become a great basketball player by working your butt off. Curry is one of the two best basketball players on the planet and he is 6-3, 190.

-- Curry scored 40 points, wth 9 rebounds, 8 assists; he didn't start. He was +21 in an overtime playoff game. On the road. He played 36:34 after missing four games.

-- Put it this way: Charles Barkley was lost for words on the postgame show.

-- Curry: Davidson, Lillard: Weber State, McCollum: Lehigh, Thompson: Wash St. Lot of great college basketball played all over the country.

    **********

Armadillo: Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but......

    13) Would the Angels trade Mike Trout?

Halos are in deep trouble, with three starting pitchers and SS Simmons now on the shelf for an extended time. LA's farm system hasn't been very productive (other than Trout) and Anaheim is in deep trouble. How do they get better?

They're stuck with Albert Pujols' contract and they're paying Josh Hamilton to sit on the DL in Texas-- trading Trout would net a significant return, but it would also put up a white flag and turn off people who pay to come to the ballpark in Anaheim.

    12) A high school in McKinney, TX is spending $62.5M to build a 12,000-seat HS football stadium. $62.5M.....for a high school football stadium.

    11) Mike Krzyzewski had hernia surgery last week, his 2nd surgery since Duke's season ended. Coach K will turn 70 during the season next winter. I don't envy the guy who takes his place at Duke-- the bar has been set impossibly high.

    10) College basketball transfers......
-- Canyon Barry (Rick's son) from Charleston to Florida.
-- LG Gill from Duquesne to Maryland
-- Miles Reynolds from Saint Louis to Pacific
-- Lew Evans from Utah State to Tennessee.

    9) Interesting doubleheader at Barclay's Center in Brooklyn on Dec 11: Hofstra will play Kentucky, St John's will play LIU. Curious to see how much better Johnnies will be in Chris Mullin's second year as coach.

    8) Krispy Kreme donuts sold the company for $1.35B yesterday; smaller donuts than what they sell at Dunkin' Donuts, but I guess lot of people like them. Myself, I'm for bigger donuts, but to each their own.

    7) Sean McDonough was named to replace Mike Tirico on Monday Night Football. Tirico is off to NBC, as lot of people are jumping (or being pushed) off ESPN's boat.

    6) Trent Dilfer, Ray Lewis, Cris Carter are off ESPN's NFL coverage; appears that Matt Hasselbeck, Randy Moss, Charles Woodson are in.

    5) Sounds like MLB will throw the book at Jose Reyes; a suspension of 60-80 games, depending who you listen to. My question is this; an 80-game suspension goes past the July 31 trade deadline-- can you trade a player while he is suspended?

    4) 2003/2004 Philadelphia Eagles are last team to repeat as NFC East champs, bad news for the Redskins, who won the division LY.

    3) Yoenis Cespedes has 28 homers in 94 games with the Mets. A's are 104-146 since they traded Cespedes for Jonny Gomes and two months of Jon Lester. Then they got almost nothing in return from Toronto for Josh Donaldson. Been a bad couple of years for the Ivy League geniuses in the Oakland front office.

    2) Former Bowling Green head coach Chris Jans was named special assistant to Gregg Marshall at Wichita State- he was a consultant in Wichita last winter. Bowling Green was 21-12 in Jans' only season at BG, one of their two winning seasons sinxe '05, but he got fired after an off-court incident where he was drunk, hit on a woman and the incident was recorded on someone's phone.

    1) Heat 94, Raptors 87 OT-- Third OT game out of four in series, which is now 2-2.

Tuesday's NBA playoffs betting preview and odds: Thunder at Spurs
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tim Duncan was held pointless in Game 4 as the Thunder exploded in the fourth quarter and beat the Spurs, 111-97.

The best series of the NBA Playoffs thus far gets a stand-alone spot Tuesday night as the San Antonio Spurs host the Oklahoma City Thunder in a pivotal Game 5.

Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs (-7, 199.5)

      Series tied 2-2

Kevin Durant's huge game helped Oklahoma City knot the Western Conference semifinals and another stellar game from the All-Star forward could propel the third-seeded Thunder into a 3-2 series lead. Durant aims to follow up a 41-point effort in Game 4 and lead his team to a victory in San Antonio for the second time in this series when Oklahoma City visits the second-seeded Spurs on Tuesday.

Durant's output matched his career postseason high and he personally outscored San Antonio 17-16 in the final quarter of Sunday's 111-97 win. "When you have a deep team, those 40-point nights - they don't come a lot," Durant said afterward. "I'm just trying to be consistent in what I do, and I know in any given moment, I can go off and get a few shots." Though the Spurs were ran out of the building in the final quarter of Game 4, concern was mild afterward with the pivotal Game 5 looming. "We were up for a good part of the game. We couldn't close it," backup shooting guard Manu Ginobili told reporters. "So we've got to keep fighting. Nobody expected to sweep or have an easy series against a team like them. We're going back home. We have homecourt advantage. Hopefully, we take care of it."

      TV:
      8 p.m. ET, TNT

      LINE HISTORY:
The Spurs opened as 6.5-point favorites and by Monday evening the books reacted to a flury of Spurs action and bumped the line up to -7. The total opened at 200.5 and was dropped a full point to 199.5. Check out the complete line history here.

      ABOUT THE THUNDER (61-30, 42-48-1 ATS, 44-47 O/U):
Durant is averaging 27.8 points in the series - he opened with a subpar 16-point showing in Game 1 - and point guard Russell Westbrook is averaging 22 points and 10.5 assists despite shooting just 33.3 percent. The biggest surprise has been the play of 22-year-old center Steven Adams, who has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in each of the four games while averaging 9.8 points and 12.3 rebounds as well as annoying most of the Spurs. "He makes the other bigs hate him because he goes hard every time," backup center Enes Kanter told reporters. "He gets under their skin, and in their head."

      ABOUT THE SPURS (73-17, 49-41 ATS, 38-50-2 O/U):
San Antonio was awful while being outscored 34-16 in the final quarter of Game 4 and it was more than Durant's greatness that decided the contest. "I think down the stretch in the fourth quarter, we made too many mistakes," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters. "Just not remembering who we were guarding and how we wanted to play. But having said that, they out-toughed us, they battered us on the boards. At the same time, they had some other players that joined in and made shots." Point guard Tony Parker was strong offensively for the second straight game with 22 points - he is averaging 20.5 over the past two games after averaging just 4.5 over the first two contests.

      TRENDS:

      * Thunder are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.
      * Spurs are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 vs. NBA Northwest.
      * Over is 7-2 in Thunder last 9 road games.
      * Under is 5-1 in Spurs last 6 home games.
      * Thunder are 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings.

      CONSENSUS REPORT:
As of Monday night, 60 percent of the Consensus picks were on the Spurs to cover the spread and 67 percent of the wagers were on the Over.
