    Hawks at Celtics (-4, 204.5) – 7:35 ET

The Celtics are on their first losing streak since before Thanksgiving and will be out to avoid dropping three straight for only the second time this season. They’ll be without guard Marcus Smart for another few weeks but had been getting excellent play out of Avery Bradley on both ends of the floor. Boston’s top perimeter defender saw a streak of 17 consecutive double-figure scoring games end in Wednesday’s 119-116 loss to Detroit where he shot 2-for-8 and was held to five points.

He didn’t play in the first meeting between these teams, a 106-93 Celtics win on Nov. 13, but scored 25 on 10-for-17 shooting in a 121-97 loss on Nov. 24. Atlanta snapped a season-high three-game losing streak in Wednesday’s 127-106 win over the 76ers, also ending a run seven consecutive games that went under the posted total. The Hawks won their first four road games of the season but are just 6-6 now. They’re only 1.5 games behind Miami for first place in the Southeast Division. Boston is 1.5 games behind Toronto in the Atlantic.

    Raptors at Heat (-4, 204.5) – 8:05 ET

Two of the Eastern Conference’s three division leaders square off for the second time this season as Toronto looks to avoid a winless three-game road trip in South Florida. The first meeting, also played in Miami, saw the Heat roll to a 96-76 win, which is still the Raptors worst-loss of the season. Kyle Lowry had a rough night in Thursday’s 109-99 OT loss in Charlotte, calling timeout just before DeMar DeRozan knocked down what would’ve been a game-winning halfcourt shot. Making matters worse, he shot an incredible 6-for-29 from the field, including 3-for-17 from 3-point range. He was 4-for-16 in the loss to Miami, so there’s a good chance he’ll struggle again. The Heat have won three consecutive games and will be looking to put together their longest prosperous run of the season. Reserves Josh McRoberts (knee) and Tyler Johnson (shoulder) are questionable, while Toronto starters DeMarre Carroll (knee) and Jonas Valanciunas (finger) remain sidelined. Although the ‘under’ has come in 18 of 24 times in Miami games, two of the last three have gone over the posted total. The ‘under’ has prevailed in three of the last four Raptors contests.

    Pistons at Bulls (-4, 195) – 8:05 ET

The Pistons begin a crucial three-game road trip that will also feature stops at top East contenders Miami and Atlanta, giving the team a good idea of where they stand at this point in the season. Through the first 27 games, Stan Van Gundy has delivered a winner, helping mold Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond into two of the league’s top young players as potential All-Stars. Detroit has won seven of its last 10 games and have seen the ‘over’ come in in eight of 10, including each of the last four contests. They’ll be getting their second look at the Bulls, who they defeated 98-94 in Auburn Hills way back on Oct. 30. Chicago carries a four-game winning streak into this one and are wrapping up a homestand that has delivered victories over the Clippers, Pelicans, 76ers and Grizzlies. Although Derrick Rose has missed 17 of his last 22 3-point attempts, he does come off a 19-point game in Wednesday’s 98-85 win over Memphis, so it will be interesting to see how he handles this matchup with Jackson. Rose scored just eight points and committed five turnovers in the October loss to the Pistons.

    Clippers at Spurs (-7.5, 194.5) – 8:05 ET, ESPN

For the first time since an epic first-round series in the 2015 playoffs, the Clippers and Spurs will cross paths.Chris Paul reigned supreme back in May and comes off his highest-scoring game of the month, finishing with 21 points and eight assists in a 103-90 win over the Bucks on Wednesday. L.A. has won six of its last seven, while San Antonio has won 13 of 15, including four straight. The Spurs are a perfect 14-0 at home, covering on 10 occasions. Kawhi Leonard comes off a 27-point game, his second highest-scoring of the season, after shooting 9-for-15 in Wednesday’s 114-95 win over Washington. Leonard has shot 29-for-50 (58 pct.) over the last four games, averaging 21.8 points and 7.3 rebounds. This will be the Clippers first look at LaMarcus Aldridge in a Spurs uniform. After a slow start, Aldridge has scored in double-figures in eight consecutive contests and is starting to assert himself offensively. Tim Duncan hasn’t scored in double-digits since Dec. 2 and has only done so once in the last 11 games he’s played in, but remains among the NBA’s most efficient performers. He rested on Wednesday and will be fresh here. DeAndre Jordan should also be well-rested since he was ejected in the third quarter against Milwaukee and played just 18 minutes. The Spurs have seen the ‘over’ come in four of the last five games, while the Clippers have had the ‘under’ prevail in three of four.

    Pelicans at Suns (-3.5, 214) – 10:35 ET, ESPN

It can be argued that the Pelicans have been the NBA’s most disappointing squad since most expected they would compete for a playoff spot in the loaded Western Conference. Instead, New Orleans enters Friday’s game tied with Brooklyn for the third-worst record in the league, leading only the hapless Lakers in the West. Despite being as healthy as they’ve been all season, Alvin Gentry’s team hasn’t won consecutive games since Nov. 25, when they defeated these Suns in a home-and-home, prevailing 122-116 and 120-114. These teams will play one last time on April 9. Anthony Davis has averaged 29 points and 18 rebounds against Phoenix and has shot over 60 percent from the field. Phoenix has also been disappointing, coming in with a two-game losing streak that has seen them lose to Dallas and Golden State by double-digits. Speculation has Markieff Morris on the block for Phoenix and Ryan Anderson available on the Pelicans. Truth be told, this game is only being spotlighted because it’s being nationally televised.

    Bucks at Warriors (-19, 211) – 10:35 ET

There hasn’t been a spread this large in the NBA all season. The most Golden State has laid in a single game is 17. They covered too, beating the Lakers 111-77. The most points the 76ers have gotten this season is 16. The Spurs, who own the top point differential in the league, have been favored by 16 points over Philadelphia. While Greg Monroe, Milwaukee’s top scorer and rebounder (15.6 ppg, 9.6 rpg), likely won’t play due to a knee injury, it still seems like overkill that bookmakers would make the only team that has defeated the Warriors this season nearly a 20-point underdog in Oakland tonight. Of course, there are extenuating circumstances. Golden State has expressed its displeasure with how the Bucks handled handing the Warriors their first loss, celebrating a little too much. Golden State has won six games by 19 or more points this season, including Wednesday’s 128-103 win over Phoenix. They’re 7-4 ATS and 11-0 straight up at Oracle Arena this season, covering in each of their last four contests.

    • Pelicans, Suns square off
      December 18, 2015

NEW ORLEANS PELICANS (7-18) at PHOENIX SUNS (11-16)

      Tip-off: Friday, 10:30 p.m. ET
      Sportsbook.ag Line: Phoenix -3.5, Total 213.5

The Suns will be looking to prevent a three-game losing streak when they host the Pelicans on Friday night.

The Pelicans are coming off of an impressive 104-94 win in Utah on Wednesday. New Orleans was a three-point road underdog and has now covered in two of its past three games. The Suns, meanwhile, were not able to hang with the Warriors for long in Golden State on Wednesday. Phoenix lost 128-103 as a 12-point road underdog and just could not stop the Warriors, allowing them to shoot 52.3% from the field in the game.

The Pelicans have already tasted victory against this Suns team this year, beating them 120-114 in Phoenix on Nov. 25 as a four-point ‘dog and 122-116 as a one-point home favorite on Nov. 22. The Pelicans are 6-3 ATS against the Suns over the past three seasons, but Phoenix is actually 5-4 SU in those contests.

There are some interesting trends in favor of both teams heading into this game. The Pelicans are 21-9 ATS after two straight games giving up 10 or less offensive rebounds over the past two seasons. The Suns won’t be intimidated, as they are 15-5 ATS after a blowout loss by 15 points or more over the past three seasons.

The only injury worth noting heading into this game is that SF Quincy Pondexter (Knee) remains out indefinitely for the Pelicans.

The Pelicans are coming off of a big win in Utah and PF Ryan Anderson (18.2 PPG, 6.7 RPG) had a huge game for New Orleans. Anderson scored 24 points in 34 minutes of action, but it was his efficiency that really helped the team. Anderson was 5-for-10 from the field and 13-for-13 from the charity stripe. He’ll have a good chance to have another solid performance against a run-and-gun Phoenix team on Friday.

PF Anthony Davis (23.3 PPG, 10.9 RPG, 2.6 BPG) will be looking forward to this matchup, as he has torched the Suns this season. Davis is averaging 29.0 PPG and 18.0 RPG in 39.0 MPG against Phoenix this year. He should be able to dominate the Suns once again on Friday.

One reason things are looking up for the Pelicans is that PG Jrue Holiday (12.4 PPG, 4.5 APG, 1.0 SPG) is starting to get healthy. Holiday is averaging 25.5 MPG over the past four contests and has put up 16.8 PPG and 4.5 APG in those games. His minute restriction could be coming off soon and that will really help New Orleans.

The Suns were playing well in Golden State until around the halfway point in the second quarter. Steph Curry got hot for the Warriors and from there it was all Golden State. The Suns will now look to turn things around and beat a Pelicans team that they have not beaten in two attempts this season.

PG Eric Bledsoe (21.7 PPG, 6.5 APG, 4.3 RPG, 2.1 SPG) was miserable against the Warriors, scoring just six points on 3-for-12 shooting. He will need to be a lot better against New Orleans on Friday.

SG Brandon Knight (20.3 PPG, 5.2 APG, 4.2 RPG) has played well against the Pelicans this season. Knight is averaging 24.0 PPG, 8.5 APG and 3.0 SPG in two meetings with New Orleans and will need to pick up the slack if Bledsoe continues to struggle for the Suns.

PF Mirza Teletovic (9.2 PPG, 3.2 RPG) was one player that really lit it up against the Warriors. He scored 24 points in 24 minutes and it’ll be interesting to see if Phoenix gives him extended minutes on Friday.

          • Preview: Lakers (4-22) at Thunder (17-9)
            Date: December 19, 2015 5:00 PM EDT

It's been quite a while since Kevin Durant played against his childhood idol, and Kobe Bryant will likely be pretty happy to see him.

Durant spoke out in defense and admiration of Bryant earlier this month once the future Hall of Famer said he will retire at season's end, and now the former MVPs take the floor together for the first time in two years Saturday when the Oklahoma City Thunder open their season series with the Los Angeles Lakers.

When the 37-year-old Bryant got off to a rough start - he shot 31.1 percent in his first 11 games - some members of the media were critical of his game, questioning if he was taking too many shots or stealing minutes from the Lakers' young players. All that talk seemed to quiet down when Bryant announced Nov. 29 that this season would be his last, but two days later, the relatively quiet Durant went on a tirade.

"I've been disappointed this year because you guys (the media) treated him like (crap)," Durant said. "He's a legend, and all I hear is about how bad he's playing, how bad he's shooting and it's time for him to hang it up. You guys treated one of our legends like (crap), and I didn't really like it. So hopefully now you can start being nice to him now that he decided to retire."

Bryant did show off a little youth Thursday, throwing down his first dunk of the season in a 107-87 loss to Houston. He tied a season high with eight rebounds and had 22 points in another good shooting night - he was 9 of 16 and is at 53.2 percent in the last three games while averaging 23.0 points.

'My legs felt lively and they felt springy,' the 20-year veteran said. 'I don't know where it came from, but it was there. I can't really explain it. I feel like I can maintain this, but it's always a give-and-take with Father Time."

Durant is 10 years Bryant's junior but has won twice as many scoring titles - four to two - and is nearly halfway to his point total of 32,866, which ranks third all-time behind Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

"I did idolize Kobe Bryant. I studied him, wanted to be like him," Durant said. "He was our Michael Jordan. ... He's had an amazing career. A guy that changed the game."

The 27-year-old has 16,056 points, including 25 in a 104-100 loss in Cleveland on Thursday after which LeBron James said Durant has a chance to challenge Abdul-Jabbar's record of 38,387.

'His ability to score the ball is obviously up there with the greatest to ever play,' James said. 'I know that's not in his memory bank right now, him trying to help the team get better and better, but long term he definitely can challenge that.'

Bryant can't climb any higher - Malone is about 4,000 ahead of him - but could be motivated to put on a good show in his first matchup with Durant since Dec. 13, 2013. Bryant had four points in 23 minutes, Durant scored a game-high 31 and both sat out the fourth quarter as Oklahoma City won 122-97.

Durant missed last season's three meetings, though the Thunder won them all. Bryant's lone appearance in the teams' past six matchups came a year ago to the day of this one, scoring nine points on 3-of-15 shooting and missing a jumper at the buzzer in a 104-103 defeat.

Russell Westbrook had the go-ahead basket that night and had 27 points with 10 assists Thursday, but the difference was the bench as Oklahoma City had a six-game winning streak snapped.

The Thunder received a season-low 16 points from their reserves and fell to 1-8 when getting fewer than 30. They're 16-1 when the bench scores at least 30.

Dion Waiters was 1 of 7 and had four points Thursday after averaging 12.1 in the previous seven games, and fellow backup Anthony Morrow sat out due to a personal matter.

Oklahoma City has won seven of the past eight meetings, and Durant has averaged 33.8 points in his last nine against the Lakers. Los Angeles has lost six straight in Oklahoma City and 14 of 15 on the road.

The Thunder have won seven in a row at home.

            • Preview: Hornets (15-10) at Wizards (10-14)
              Date: December 19, 2015 7:00 PM EDT

Injuries continue to mount for the Washington Wizards. So are the losses.

The disappointing Wizards limp into an important homestand that begins Saturday night against the Charlotte Hornets, one of several teams Washington is chasing in the Southeast Division.

Already without leading scorer Bradley Beal and key rotation members Nene, Alan Anderson and Drew Gooden, the Wizards were dealt another blow when Otto Porter exited Wednesday's 114-95 loss at San Antonio in the third quarter. A thigh bruise renders the improving third-year forward questionable for the opener of this three-game residency.

Washington (10-14) went 1-3 on the road trip and has dropped 10 of 14 to fall into last place in the Southeast, an unforeseen development for a team that reached the Eastern Conference semifinals the previous two seasons.

Poor health has certainly been a factor in the downturn, though not the only one. The Wizards have been among the league's worst defensive clubs, ranking near the bottom in points allowed (106.0 per game) and opposing field-goal percentage (46.9). They're surrendering an NBA-worst 40.9 percent on 3-point shots.

'We can't use (injuries) as an excuse,' coach Randy Wittman said. 'We just haven't been consistent in terms of night in and night out. Night in and night out, your shooting can change. You take shots and miss shots, but defensively, and effort-wise putting the commitment into it has to be every night.'

Charlotte (15-10) has been better able to withstand its personnel losses. The Hornets are 5-3 with Al Jefferson sidelined by a calf strain and current suspension for a drug policy violation, while Jeremy Lin filled in superbly with Nicolas Batum out with an illness Thursday against Toronto.

Lin delivered a season-high 35 points in his first start to complement 27 from Kemba Walker as the Hornets halted a two-game skid with a 109-99 overtime triumph over the Atlantic Division-leading Raptors. The backcourt pairing scored 14 of Charlotte's 19 points during extra time.

"When they deny me the basketball, he can come and make plays," Walker said of Lin. "You can see it in the numbers; he played extremely well."

Jefferson's absence may hit harder in this matchup. The veteran center, who will miss three more games, has averaged 18.8 points and 10.9 rebounds to help the Hornets win six of the series' last eight meetings. He had 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 101-87 home decision Nov. 25.

With Beal out at least another week with a developing stress reaction in his right leg and Porter uncertain, more scoring responsibility will likely again fall on John Wall. The star point guard has shot 27.6 percent the last two games and was 6 of 18 last month against the Hornets, who limited Washington to 35.6 percent.

Rookie Kelly Oubre also could be in line for a larger role after recording a season-high 18 points in 25 minutes against the Spurs.

Washington is 8-2 in its last 10 division games dating back to last season and has won five straight at home against Southeast foes since a 92-88 defeat to the Hornets on Feb. 2. Charlotte has won three of four at Verizon Center, where three of the past six meetings in the series have gone to overtime.

              • Preview: Bulls (15-8) at Knicks (13-14)
                Date: December 19, 2015 7:30 PM EDT

The New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls will close out their respective back-to-back sets Saturday night, but one looks drastically different than the other.

While the Knicks rested up late in an easy win on Friday, the Bulls played their longest game in more than three decades ahead of their trip to Madison Square Garden.

What was most taxing might have been the final result. After playing for 3 hours, 24 minutes, the Bulls' four-game winning streak came to a close with a 147-144 quadruple-overtime loss to Detroit, the lone defeat on a five-game homestand.

Chicago (15-9) will meet the Knicks for a seventh game in 11 days one night after each of its starters logged season highs in minutes - led by Jimmy Butler (55:33) and Derrick Rose (54:13).

'You fight hard, you put everything you have on the court and to lose like this in four overtimes at home, it's a heartbreaker,' Pau Gasol said. 'It happens.'

Not often. Chicago's only other four-overtime game was a 156-155 win at Portland on March 16, 1984. Friday was the 13th game in NBA history to last at least four overtimes and the first since Atlanta beat Utah on March 25, 2012.

Butler's 3-pointer at the buzzer stuck between the rim and backboard for a moment before rolling harmlessly away, capping Chicago's 5-for-22 performance from downtown. The 22.7 percent clip was a season worst, and the five makes were one off a season low.

Butler still finished with a career-high 43 points, and Gasol added a season-high 30 points with 15 rebounds, five assists and five blocks. Rose poured in 34 points, but it took him 34 shots to get there, both season highs.

'We're expected to win,' Butler said. 'Four overtimes, no overtimes. We didn't do that. Didn't protect our home floor.'

After dropping to 11-4 at the United Center, the Bulls will try to snap a two-game skid on the road. They have won three straight games in this series and are 13-3 against the Knicks since April 12, 2011.

While Chicago won the second end of its only two previous back-to-backs, New York is 1-4 in the same situation.

The Knicks (13-14) won their third consecutive game on Friday, 107-97 at Philadelphia. New York led by as many as 30 points before using the fourth quarter to rest its starters, none of whom logged more than 28 minutes.

The Knicks didn't post 14 wins last season until March 17.

Rookie Kristaps Porzingis is a big reason for the turnaround, though he has struggled offensively of late. After scoring 28 points on Dec. 7, Porzingis has scored just 36 in the last five games on 27.1 percent shooting.

He has blocked 10 shots in his last two games, however, while playing against other top picks Karl-Anthony Towns of Minnesota and Jahlil Okafor of the 76ers.

'The great thing about (Porzingis) is even if he's not getting the most amount of opportunities offensively, he's blocking shots, he's changing shots, he's still impacting the game,' coach Derek Fisher said. 'We're a better team when he's out there on the floor and I think he's going to continue to learn every night when he's out there on the floor.'

New York has won three of its last four games at MSG after opening the season 3-6 there.

                • Preview: Clippers (16-11) at Rockets (13-14)
                  Date: December 19, 2015 8:00 PM EDT

The last time the Los Angeles Clippers played at the Toyota Center, they walked off the court dejectedly in the wake of an unlikely collapse in the Western Conference semifinals.

A home loss to the Houston Rockets in November did little to erase those bad memories.

Now the Clippers hope to take advantage of another opportunity to overcome their nemesis Saturday night when they try to keep the Rockets from a fifth straight home victory.

After knocking off defending champion San Antonio in a thrilling seven-game series last postseason, Los Angeles (16-11) appeared to be on its way to the conference finals with a seemingly commanding 3-1 series advantage over the Rockets (13-14).

Houston, however, took the last three games by an average of 15.4 points. James Harden had 31 points in Game 7 when the Rockets led by as many as 20 en route to a 113-100 home win.

The three-time All-Star then finished with 46 points on 14-of-26 shooting in a 109-105 win over the Clippers at Staples Center on Nov. 7. Harden is scoring 28.7 per game while going 97 for 105 (92.4 percent) from the free-throw line in his last nine meetings, including playoffs.

Dwight Howard, who contributed 20 points and a season-high 20 rebounds in last month's win, is averaging 19.0 and 17.8 in his last four games versus Los Angeles going back to the postseason series.

Both clubs started out this season surprisingly slow before coming on strong recently. Houston has won eight of 12 since opening 5-10, while Los Angeles has won nine of 12 since a 7-8 start.

"Our crowd will be there behind us and supporting us," Rockets interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. "It's time for us to start to step up, it doesn't matter who our opponent is."

The Clippers had their three-game winning streak end in Friday's 115-107 loss at San Antonio. Chris Paul had 27 points, Blake Griffin scored 25 and DeAndre Jordan added 16 and 17 boards.

Paul averaged 23.5 points and 10.8 assists in the last four games of last year's playoff series, but did not play in the November meeting. Griffin has scored 27.9 per game while pulling down 12.1 rebounds in his last eight matchups, including the postseason.

The Clippers will have to get on track defensively after allowing their highest point total in 16 games, along with a 49.4 field-goal percentage and 10 for 19 shooting from 3-point range Friday. They had held opponents to a 41.1 shooting percentage over their previous four.

"We just need to start playing consistently together on the same night," Paul said.

The Rockets have averaged 117.5 points on 47.9 percent from the field - including a 43.9 mark from beyond the arc - during their season-best winning streak at Toyota Center.

After dropping the first two, they salvaged a win on their three-game road swing despite shooting 38.6 percent on Thursday. Harden had 25 points but missed 17 of 24 shots and Howard added 16 and 15 rebounds in a 107-87 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Houston will be without backup point guard Ty Lawson for two games without pay for a drunken-driving case in Colorado. He also was charged with speeding and other offenses last January, but pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired and a lane violation.

                    • Preview: Pacers (16-9) at Grizzlies (14-14)
                      Date: December 19, 2015 8:00 PM EDT

The Indiana Pacers may be the highest scoring team in the Eastern Conference, but their defense has been the major indicator of success versus failure.

Jordan Hill has provided another, though on a much smaller scale.

Hill looks for another solid effort as the Pacers go for a fourth straight win on the strength of their defensive play Saturday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Indiana (16-9) scores an average of 103.8 points to rank sixth in the NBA and first in the East and has been consistent in that category regardless of outcome, scoring 104.7 per game in victories and 102.1 in defeats.

The Pacers aren't nearly as close to an even split on the other end of the court, surrendering a league-high 111.8 points per loss and ranking among the NBA's best with 91.2 per win. It's the widest disparity in the league at 20.6 points.

It's been on full display while Indiana has split the last eight games by allowing an average of 87.8 points in the wins and 123.5 in the losses.

The club held Brooklyn to 41.9 percent shooting in Friday's 104-97 win to complete a 3-0 homestand. Hill scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Pacers improved to 5-0 when he gets a double-double.

"When he came here, I knew what to expect out of him," Paul George said of acquiring Hill from the Lakers via free agency in the offseason. "I don't think he's been getting enough credit for what he's been doing."

Hill is averaging 9.6 points and 7.8 boards on the season, but he's putting up 13.3 and 10.0 marks over the past three games. He's yet to become a regular starter in Indiana with George and C.J. Miles getting the nod at forward and Ian Mahinmi at center.

George matched his career high with seven turnovers Friday, but he made up for it with 23 points and 10 rebounds. He was averaging 16.0 points and 5.3 boards while shooting 34.0 percent from the floor over the three prior games.

George had 18 points while Indiana fell 112-103 at home to Memphis (14-14) on Oct. 29 to lose a fourth straight matchup. Hill added four points and six rebounds in one of his three starts this season.

The Grizzlies have dropped four of their last five games after shooting 37.5 percent from the floor in a 97-88 loss at Dallas on Friday.

"In one quarter we play great defense and really good offense and then, all of a sudden, we stop doing that," said center Marc Gasol, who had 16 points and eight rebounds. "Every time we get hit, it takes a long time for us to get up."

Gasol is averaging 24.3 points and 9.0 rebounds in the last three meetings with Indiana. He was one of seven Grizzlies to score in double digits Oct. 29, leading the way with 20 points and eight boards.

Mike Conley, who had 13 points and 10 assists in that matchup, has averaged 17.0 points while shooting 50.7 percent over his last five home meetings.

It's unclear if Tony Allen will miss a fifth straight game with a right knee injury. Courtney Lee has replaced him in the lineup, averaging 12.5 points in four games.

Jets (-3.5) were most popular pick; they played last night- L.

                              7) Bengals -4.5 (358)-- Lot of faith in first time starter, QB McCarron

                              6) Bears +5.5 (383)-- Chicago has played lot of close games this year.

                              5) Broncos +6.5 (411)-- Will Osweiler lose starting job if Denver loses?

                              4) Cardinals -3.5 (442)-- Lot of trust in dome team; will be 36 degrees at kickoff.

                              3) Giants +4.5 (505)-- It is comical how underrated the Panthers are. .

                              2) Packers -3 (551)-- Aaron Rodgers returns to Bay Area; he played at Cal.

Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday.........

                              3) Star Wars movie took in $120M, just on Friday; how much overpriced popcorn was sold? I remember when VCRs came out, people said it would kill movie theaters, no one would go anymore. Uh huh.

                              12) Utah 77, Duke 75 OT-- Surprising result from MSG; Duke played seven kids, and one of those played only six minutes. Utes avenge LY's loss in Sweet 16.

                              11) Utah 35, BYU 28-- Tremendously tremendous day for the Utes, who beat their arch-rivals in the Las Vegas Bowl- this game was 35-0 in first quarter thanks to just an awful performance by BYU's QB. Then the Utes had to hang on at the end. BYU had a turnover on each of its first five drives of the game.

                              10) Speaking of BYU, could be that Bronco Mendenhall coached the bowl game for BYU because he is taking six of his assistants with him to Virginia. Cougars are going to hire an alum as head coach who is DC at Oregon State right now.

                              9) Rice 90, New Mexico 89-- Game was tied in last seconds when there was a wild scramble for a loose ball and Lobos called timeout with 0:00.1 left. Problem is, they didn't have a timeout left, Rice made the foul shot and escaped Albuquerque with an upset win that ain't going to help the Mountain West's power rating.

                              8) NC-Asheville 79, Georgetown 73-- If John Thompson III's last name wasn't what it is, would he still be the Hoyas' coach? Hoyas are 0-2 at home vs Big South teams and got drilled at home by 15 by Monmouth. I'm just askin'......

                              7) Northwestern 78, DePaul 70 OT-- Good lord, Doug Collins looked like he was going to have a heart attack watching his son's team play. Wildcats are 10-1- if they have a decent season in conference play, they might make NCAAs for first time ever.

                              6) Ohio State 74, Kentucky 67-- Buckeyes had been very ordinary up to this point; this Kentucky team ain't last year's Kentucky team.

                              5) Arizona 45, New Mexico 37-- Is it fun to play bowl games on your home field? This was Lobos' first bowl in eight years, but they didn't travel-- isn't that half the fun for the players? I know coaches like the extra practices, but the players don't.

                              4) Appalachian State 31, Ohio U 29-- ASU wins a bowl in its second year of I-A play. Both teams kicked a short FG in last 2:00 of this obscure but interesting game.

                              3) Good lord the Lakers are terrible- they're 4-23 and lost by 40 in Oklahoma. Do they get better when Kobe Bryant retires and they have more cap room?

                              2) Seton Hall 80, Wichita State 76 OT-- Shockers may have to win MVC tourney to get into the NCAA this year; their KenPom rating is 36 and MVC is only 12th rated league in country. They'll likely be a bubble team.

                              1) Dr Dre must be making a fortune off those headphones he sells; ton of people wore wore them on the airplane Friday out to Las Vegas. You know there is zero hope of conversation on the flight when you've got an aisle seat and the person next to you has headphones on.
