    Armadillo: Friday's six-pack

-- Texas A&M 62, Gonzaga 61-- Had the feel of a March game, not November.

-- Monmouth 70, Notre Dame 68-- Hawks have beaten UCLA, Notre Dame and should contend in MAAC this winter.

-- Dayton 82, Iowa 77-- Loser of Iowa-Notre Dame game today will play in the 7th place game Sunday, which is totally unexpected.

-- Michigan State 99, Boston College 68-- Tom Izzo wins his 500th game.

-- Arizona 75, Santa Clara 73 OT-- Broncos are 0-6; this is a red flag for Arizona.

-- San Diego State 72, Cal 58-- Aztecs outscored Cal 44-22 in second half.

    **********

Armadillo: Friday's List of 13: Leftovers from Thanksgiving Day......

    13) Lions 45, Eagles 14-- It'll be surprising to me if Chip Kelly is still coaching the Eagles next year. He's totally failed as a personnel guy and worst of all,, the players appear to have quit on him. He can still make a fortune going back to college......

    12) Panthers 33, Cowboys 14-- Luckily there was several good college basketball games on during the day yesterday; the two NFL games were awful. Carolina is 11-0 and is an underrated team; no one talks about them unless they're complaining about Cam Newton's TD celebrations.

It bears repeating: Panthers have won 15 regular season games in a row.

In 11 games this year, on the opponents' first drive of the game, Carolina's defense outscored the other team's offense 7-3-- they're very well-prepared and they haven't lost yet. Mainstream media doesn't seem to be taking them seriously.

    11) Bears 17, Packers 13-- Green Bay has lost four of its last five games, is behind Minnesota again in NFC North. NFL-wide, divisional home favorites are 13-23-2 vs spread this season. Chicago is 5-3 in its last eight games after an 0-3 start-- this was only the Bears' second win in last eight visits to Lambeau Field.

    10) Saw a picture yesterday of a turkey that was cooked while totally wrapped in bacon; not sure how that would taste. I like turkey and I also like bacon, so I guess it would be pretty good. Not necessarily healthy, but good.

    9) USC 72, Wichita State 69-- Shockers' best player didn't play, but Trojans are 5-0 for the first time in 15 years- they play Xavier tonight.

    8) WCC is generally thought of as the second-best basketball league on the west coast, but so far this season, WCC teams are 1-10 against the spread when playing teams from the Big West Conference- Big West is usually #4 on that list .

    7) Apparently this is American Idol's last year on FOX; I thought they should've done one season where all the competitors were 50+ years old, thought it would've been an interesting concept. This is why I don't work for a TV network.

    6) Must be a cool feeling to be such a good shooter that when you get the ball outside the 3-point arc, your teammates signal for three points, even before you shoot.

    5) I had no idea cranberries are the state fruit of Wisconsin.

    4) They're having a pretty good basketball tournament in the Bahamas at Atlantis resort; half the games are on AXS TV, which I had never heard of before this week. It is channel 340 on DirecTV.

Thursday morning AXS had an interview show on where Dan Rather interviewed musician Gregg Allman-- guy has been married six freakin' times, including once to Cher. I read once that second marriages are a triumph of hope over experience.

    3) South Florida 44, Central Florida 3-- UCF finishes their season 0-12; some poor soul actually went to this game with a sign that said "Beat Somebody". Oy.

    2) Texas Tech 48, Texas 45-- Longhorns are 4-7; if Chip Kelly sent out a feeler for their coaching job tomorrow, when would the introductory press conference be?

    1) RIP Coach Guy Lewis, who passed away this week at age 93. Coach Lewis took the Houston Cougars to five Final Fours and had some of the most entertaining teams of the pre-shot clock/3-point era. He coached Hayes-Drexler-Olajuwon, some of the best players ever. Houston hasn't won an NCAA game since he stopped coaching.

          NBA

          Friday, November 27

Hornets on nice streak both SU and ATS

Don't look now, but perhaps things are coming together for the Charlotte Hornets.

After a day off on Thanksgiving, the NBA resumes with a dozen games Friday, including the red-hot Hornets entertaining the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Hornets head into the contest winners of four consecutive games straight up and three straight against the spread.

The Hornets sit sixth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 9-6 SU and have gone 9-5-1 ATS in the process.

Books opened the Hornets as 4-point home dogs with the Cavs in town Friday.

Over wagers red hot in Milwaukee Bucks' games

The Milwaukee Bucks' defense has not been what it was supposed to be this season and Over bettors have reaped the reward. The Bucks are tied with the Cleveland Cavs for the top Over record in the NBA at 10-5 heading into Friday's action.

Furthermore, the Over has cashed in seven-straight Bucks games, capped with Wednesday's 129-118 loss to the DeMarcus Cousins-less Sacramento Kings.

The Bucks ranked eighth in the NBA last season with 97.4 opponents points per game, but this season has seen a real drop off as the club heads into Friday's game ranked 25th in the league with 105.6 opponents points per.

Milwaukee visits the Orlando Magic Friday evening with books offering a total of 198.

Resurgent Pacers have been unstoppable ATS

Paul George has been a wonderful story so far this season and his stellar play has helped the Indiana Pacers to one of the best records against the spread in the league thus far.

George, who missed all but six games last season thanks to a grisly right leg injury with Team USA in August 2014, has put 25.9 points, 8.4 boards and 4.8 assists per game on the season and Pacers' backers have enjoyed a 10-4 ATS mark heading into Friday's action.

Indy has gone 10-1 ATS in its last 11 and has covered the spread in four-straight games, capped by a 123-106 win as 3-point road dogs at the Washington Wizards Tuesday evening.

The Chicago Bulls visit the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis Friday evening and while books opened the home team as 2.5-point home faves, that has since moved to -3.

              Friday's Tip Sheet
              November 27, 2015

Cleveland at Charlotte (+4, 204.5): The Cavs have had Kyrie Irving out all year, only just got guard Mo Williams back from a leg injury and now are watching Matthew Dellavedova deal with a sore left calf that kept him out of Wednesday’s loss to Toronto. The Hornets should benefit as Kemba Walker will have advantages here, but they haven’t beaten the Cavs since April of 2014. Last season’s three meetings all went Cleveland’s way, with the last one ending 129-90. Charlotte has won three of the last four at home against the Cavs.

Miami at New York (+1.5, 188): Center Hassan Whiteside has blocked at least two shots in every game he’s played in this season, including the five he swatted in Monday’s 95-78 win over these Knicks. He’ll try to keep his act going at Madison Square Garden, where New York will be playing for the first time since Nov. 17 as it has been on a four-game road trip. Kristaps Porzingis blocked six shots in Wednesday’s loss in Orlando, but shot just 3-for-13 from the field, so he’ll be looking to bounce back against a Heat team he torched for 20 points and 14 rebounds in Miami. The Heat has beaten the Knicks seven consecutive times, with their last loss coming in January of 2014. Of the seven wins, the margin of victory in six of the games has been by double-digits.

Philadelphia at Houston (-11, 198.5): After falling frustratingly short of their first victory of the season in Wednesday’s 84-80 loss to Boston, the 76ers will look to break through as they continue a six-game road trip of which this is the fifth leg. Philly is an astounding 0-16, but has actually covered in each of the last three games and will look to take advantage of a Rockets squad that has lost three in a row. Shooter Nik Stauskas remains out with a knee injury, as does spark plug Tony Wroten, who has yet to play this season but is nearing a return. The 76ers haven’t won in Houston since 2012 and have dropped the last three meetings between these teams.

Atlanta at Memphis (-3, 196): After a slow start that saw them open 7-7, the Grizzlies have won consecutive games and look poised for a breakthrough. They’re 5-2 at FedEx Forum and have covered the spread in five of the last six games, so this may be a strong spot for them if they can get Zach Randolph back from a nagging knee injury that forced him to sit out Wednesday’s 102-93 victory over the Rockets. Since Brandan Wright is also still out with a knee injury, the Grizzlies are painfully thin up front. Atlanta has been banged up too. Kent Bazemore has been out of the lineup with an ankle injury that may keep him out here, while Jeff Teague just got back in the mix after dealing with an ankle ailment of his own. Center Tiago Splitter is questionable due to a hip injury. The Hawks have lost their last two trips into Memphis after winning three straight from 2010-12.

Golden State (-8.5) at Phoenix: The first 16 games have certainly been sweet, but the greedy undefeated Warriors want more as they visit a Suns team that’s tied with the Clippers (7-8) for second place in the Pacific Division. The Suns have only beaten Golden State in three of their last 14 meetings, but did take a game off them last year, ironically winning their first meeting last November. Eric Bledsoe also should play despite struggling with a knee injury. Make sure to monitor Tyson Chandler’s availability here since he’s dealing with an illness that may keep him out. The Suns are a dramatically different team when he’s in there plugging the paint and providing veteran leadership.

New Orleans at L.A. Clippers (-6.5, 213): All-Star forward Anthony Davis has returned for wins in each of the Pelicans’ last three games, a home upset of San Antonio and a pair of win over the Suns. Davis has averaged 26 points and 18 rebounds in the wins and shot 11-for-14 last time out. It’s safe to say he looks over the hip and shoulder injuries that sabotaged the early portion of the season. Very little has gone smoothly for the Clippers either, which is why they’re sitting below .500 nearly a full month into the season. That said they’re still the healthier squad in this matchup, as Doc Rivers has everyone at his disposal. Tyreke Evans is close to making his season debut after struggling with a knee injury, but he won’t play in this one. Quincy Pondexter (knee) and Norris Cole (ankle) also remain out. The Pelicans have gotten unexpected excellence out of point guard Ish Smith, who has really aided the cause as Jrue Holiday deals with minute restrictions. Smith has averaged 17 points and 9.5 assists over the last five games.

NBA Indiana Pacers - Chicago Bulls

                  Recommendation: UNDER 198

                  Odds: 1.934

                  Bookmaker: Pinnaclesports / Sportmarket

The oddsmakers continue to give a bit higher line for the total in this match-up and I will continue backing it. My Pacers are real hot right now and maybe this is the reason for this line but…. It’s one thing to play against weak defensive teams like Wizards and Bucks (right now Bucks are terrible in defense, not in principle), and completely different story to play against stifling defense like Bulls’ one. Indiana are red-hot from beyond the arc but Chicago guards should be able to limit Pacers a bit in this area or at least slow down Pacers offensive rhythm.

Bulls conclude their road trip tonight and tiredness would be a factor too. They did well, 2-1 in this trip with the expected loss against GSW. They struggle to create easy scoring opportunities though, even with Derrick Rose on the floor. It was totally evident against Portland, they led comfortably with 10+ points at some stage in the beginning of the 4th Q and then started choking quite badly. Shot clock violations, slow tempo attacks, desperate shots, etc. I rate Pacers better than Portland in every aspect of course so can’t really see Bulls solving this problem area tonight.

All in all, this should be slow tempo game, at least Bulls will try to play slowly so I think UNDER is the best option.
