    Guys,

I have cataract surgery at 10:30 this morning 70 miles away. They want me there 2 hours early.

I apologize for the trends threads not being able to start until sometime this afternoon. I'll get to it ASAP.

      Indiana Pacers - Boston Celtics

      Recommendation: Pacers ML

      Odds: 2.15

      Bookmaker: Pinnaclesports / Sportmarket

I am quite surprise at these odds frankly. OK, I can accept Celtics being given roughly 50 % chance to win this game in Indianapolis but -2.5 points is too much for me. Going even further, I’ll happily take the value ML odds instead of this small spread.

Boston had some issues with ball movement and overall offensive effectiveness in the absence of guard Avery Bradley. He is still reported as slightly doubtful for tonight but even if he plays, his minutes should be limited and his game a bit rusty maybe.

Indiana also has a questionable starter, Center Ian Mahinmi. I’m not too worried about him though, rookie Myles Turner is showing great promise and is the future starting player at this position for the team, plus Jordan Hill is able to log some minutes too in a small-ball formation. Pacers took their first win for the season in Detroit and will want to make home fans happy now. B2B game is not such a big issue for a young team in the very beginning of the season and we’re yet to see a real good game from both Paul George and Monta Ellis, so fingers crossed it’s tonight (ok, one of them will be enough probably) and Go Pacers Nation!

Game of the Day: Clippers at Warriors
                    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Warriors have steamrolled opponents through their first four games and are a perfect 4-0 ATS.

Los Angeles Clippers at Golden State Warriors (-7.5, 218)

The Golden State Warriors endured jabs from opposing players and coaches over the summer after winning the NBA championship and have come out this season on a mission to prove they are still the best team in the league. The Warriors will try to continue their historic pace when they host one of the teams that did the most talking over the summer - the Los Angeles Clippers.

Golden State took three of four from the Clippers in the regular season last year and missed out on a chance to see them in the playoffs when Los Angeles squandered a 3-1 series lead against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference semifinals. Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers suggested the Warriors may have been the recipients of some good fortune in their run through the playoffs, prompting Golden State guard Klay Thompson to respond by saying, “I wanted to play the Clippers last year but they couldn’t handle their business.” Los Angeles has handled its business so far this season and heads into the matchup 4-0. The Warriors are 4-0 as well after beginning their homestand by blasting the Memphis Grizzlies 119-69 on Monday.

                    TV:
10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN, Prime Ticket (Los Angeles), CSN Bay Area (Golden State)

                    LINE HISTORY:
The Warriors opened as 7-point home favorites and quickly moved to -7.5. The total has held steady at its opening number of 218.

                    INJURY REPORT:

                    Clippers - N/A.

Warriors - C A. Bogut (questionable Wednesday, concussion), SF K. Looney (Late January, hip).

                    POWER RANKINGS:
                    Clippers (-13.8) - Warriors (-16) + home field (-3) = Warriors -5.2

                    ABOUT THE CLIPPERS (4-0, 2-2 ATS, 2-2 O/U):
Blake Griffin has been at the front of several battles with the Warriors over the past few seasons and is leading his team in Wednesday’s clash. Griffin is averaging 29.5 points on 62.2 percent shooting and 9.3 rebounds during Los Angeles’ hot start and is benefiting from an improved bench that now includes Paul Pierce and Josh Smith helping to take some of the pressure off in the frontcourt. Griffin has even improved at the free-throw line, where he is connecting at a 74.3-percent clip.

                    ABOUT THE WARRIORS (4-0, 4-0 ATS, 1-3 O/U):
Golden State has outscored its first four opponents – all of which were Western Conference playoff teams last season – by a total of 100 points, bettering the 1961-62 Boston Celtics’ 99-point margin through four contests. “I think we’ve taken our intensity to a different level,” Draymond Green told the San Francisco Chronicle after Monday’s win. “It’s just a maturity. We’re getting more and more games together. We know what it takes.” Reigning MVP Stephen Curry is leading the charge and notched his third 20-point quarter of the young season in the third against the Grizzlies.

                    TRENDS:

                    * Home team is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings.
                    * Clippers are 5-17 in the last 22 meetings in Golden State.
                    * Under is 10-1-2 in Warriors last 13 home games.
                    * Over is 8-1 in Clippers last nine games playing on 1 days rest.

                    CONSENSUS:
The public is giving the slight edge to Golden State, with 51.67 percent of wagers backing the Warriors.

Which spot bets are the wiseguys looking to wager this week?

TCU is coming off an emotional revenge spot versus West Virginia when it heads to Stillwater to play the undefeated Cowboys.

                      Letdown spot

The TCU Horned Frogs erased their lone loss of 2014 - a loss that cost them a shot at the college football playoffs – with a 40-10 thumping of the West Virginia Mountaineers, covering as 12-point home favorites last Saturday. It was a game circled in red ink on the TCU schedule for coaches, players, waterboys, trainers – and especially football bettors - since the Horned Frogs' docket was released. But after such an emotional win, TCU is now in danger of a letdown in Week 10.

The Horned Frogs are in a tricky spot Saturday, travelling to Stillwater to face the No. 10 Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Pokes, who are getting 5.5-points from the oddsmakers, are a perfect 8-0 SU on the season and 5-3 ATS. Oklahoma State has the fire power to stand and trade with TCU, ranked seventh in points, and unlike past seasons the Cowboys have some semblance of a defense. With the Horned Frogs hitting the road after an important win, there could be value in the home dog Saturday.

                      Lookahead spot

The New York Jets have stumbled after a hot start to the season, losing back-to-back road games to the Patriots and Raiders after going 4-1 SU and ATS through the first five games of the schedule. But at least they’re doing better than former head coach Rex Ryan, right? Ryan’s Bills have dropped three of their last four before enjoying a bye in Week 8. Gang Green can prove they’re better without Rex when these teams clash in Week 10.

But before that bad blood is spilled, New York welcomes the Jacksonville Jaguars to MetLife Stadium this Sunday. Odds for this game are off the board at most books while the Jets figure out what the heck to do at quarterback. Ryan Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith are both dinged up, which may leave them to start rookie QB Bryce Petty. Add to that a pending date with their former coach and the J-E-T-S – Jets, Jets, Jets - are in lookahead hell Sunday.

                      Schedule spot

The Detroit Pistons are the big bread winners to start the NBA season, winning outright in their first three games – all of which as betting underdogs. Detroit didn’t roll over cupcakes either, beating Chicago and Atlanta in that opening stretch. They host an old rival in Indiana Tuesday before hitting the road for a challenging slate of games.

The Pistons open this trip in Phoenix Friday, then play at Portland Sunday and Golden State Monday for a three-in-four gauntlet. Following a day off Tuesday, Detroit takes on Sacramento Wednesday and a pair of L.A. teams the following weekend. All in all, the Pistons are away from Motown for almost two weeks.
