    Armadillo: Saturday's six-pack

-- Mets 9, Royals 3-- Home team is 3-0 so far in World Series.

-- Thunder 139, Magic 136 2OT-- This was a great game; there were three made 3's in last 0:14 of regulation.

-- Purdue's ace basketball recruit, Caleb Swanigan, is now eligible; he was adopted five years ago by a guy who is an agent, which caused a delay.

-- Texas Longhorns are signing a 15-year, $250M deal with Nike.

-- Dolphins lost DL Cameron Wake (achilles) for the year; big loss.

-- RIP Mel Daniels, one of the great players in ABA history. Indiana Pacers were a power in the ABA; Daniels was a great power forward.

Armadillo: Saturday's Den: DDLohaus picks the Breeders' Cup......

Friday didn't start out very good; our selections in the first Breeders Cup race finished in the bottom three....but we bounced back with a nice exacta. Scratched out of our final bet.

    Overall 1-2-1 for a small loss of $38.00 for the day. Pletcher had a big first day and he may be finally able to silent the critics about not being able to win at Breeders' Cup;

NBA roundup: Thunder outlast Magic in double OT

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Russell Westbrook scored 48 points and Kevin Durant had 43 to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 139-136 double-overtime victory over the Orlando Magic Friday night.

The Thunder erased an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter, then led through most of both overtimes.

The Magic were led by Tobias Harris with 30 points and Nikola Vucevic with 26 points. Victor Oladipo had 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.

        Pistons 98, Bulls 94

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Marcus Morris poured in 26 points and Andre Drummond racked up 20 points and 20 rebounds as Detroit remained unbeaten.

Morris grabbed seven rebounds and Reggie Jackson, who recorded his 1,000th career assist during the third quarter, contributed 22 points and seven assists.

Jimmy Butler tossed in 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and power forward Nikola Mirotic had 22 points for the Bulls. Derrick Rose, held scoreless until midway through the final quarter, finished with eight points.

        Cavaliers 102, Heat 92

CLEVELAND -- Kevin Love scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and LeBron James scored 29 points in Cleveland's win.

Love has had double-doubles in his last two games, and his consecutive 3-pointers late in the third quarter gave the Cavs some space after the Heat had closed the deficit to three points.

Dwyane Wade scored 25 points and forward Chris Bosh had 16 points and five rebounds for the Heat.

        Jazz 99, Sixers 71

PHILADELPHIA -- Derrick Favors had 20 points and 12 rebounds in Utah's easy win.

Rodney Hood added 17 points and guard Alec Burks scored 15 off the bench for Utah. Rudy Gobert had eight points, 11 rebounds and six blocked shots.

Nik Stauskas and Jerami Grant notched 12 points apiece to lead Philadelphia, which trailed by as many as 31 points late in the game.

        Spurs 102, Nets 75

SAN ANTONIO -- Kawhi Leonard scored 16 points and six other San Antonio players scored in double figures as the Spurs won their home opener.

Trailing by five points entering the third quarter, San Antonio got four straight baskets from Tony Parker and two from Leonard.

Tim Duncan added 15 points while Mano Ginobili had 12, guard Patty Mills scored 11 and Parker and forward LaMarcus Aldridge had 10 apiece.

        Wizards 118, Bucks 113

MILWAUKEE -- Bradley Beal scored 36 points and Ramon Sessions had 23 as Washington rallied in the fourth quarter for a win on the road.

Beal and Sessions led the late charge, scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively, in the final 12 minutes.

They were especially lethal from long range, combining to connect on 6 of 7 from beyond the arc, and sank 3s on three consecutive possessions to give Washington a 111-104 lead with two minutes to play.

        Hawks 97, Hornets 94

ATLANTA -- Kemba Walker missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer and Atlanta held on after being up by 14 in the fourth quarter.

Kent Bazemore had 19 points for the Hawks and Paul Millsap contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hawks, who were 35-6 at home a year ago, avoided starting 0-2 at Philips Arena this season and in the process gave coach Mike Budenholzer his 100th victory.

        Warriors 112, Rockets 92

HOUSTON -- Stephen Curry scored 25 points in 28 minutes as Golden State continued its dominance of Houston at the Toyota Center.

The Warriors claimed their sixth consecutive win in Houston and improved to 10-1 in their last 11 meetings with the Rockets. With the Warriors leading by as many as 25 points, Curry casually engineered the offense, adding seven rebounds and six assists in a rematch of the 2015 Western Conference Finals won in five games by Golden State.

The Rockets shot just 36.6 percent from the field and committed 17 turnovers that the Warriors turned into 19 points. James Harden (16 points) continued his early season shooting woes, missing 14 of 18 from the field, including 9 of 10 3-ponters. Dwight Howard, making his debut after missing the opener because of a suspension, had nine points, seven boards and five fouls.

        Kings 132, Lakers 114

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Rajon Rondo had 21 points and eight assists, many of them during a dominant first quarter, and Sacramento ran away from Kobe Bryant and Los Angeles.

Rondo, who was held to four points and four assists in Sacramento's season-opening 111-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, scored 10 points in the first quarter and led a 33-10 run that put the Kings ahead by double digits for the entire night. DeMarcus Cousins, coming off a 32-point, 13-rebound opener, added 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Kings beat the Lakers for the fourth consecutive time.

Jordan Clarkson scored 22 points to lead the Lakers. Bryant had just 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field. He missed seven of eight shots from behind the 3-point arc but moved past Dhaquille O'Neal and into the top five among field goal leaders in NBA history.

        Timberwolves 95, Nuggets 78

DENVER -- Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 points and 14 rebounds and Minnesota Timberwolves spoiled Denver's home opener.

Andrew Wiggins added 18 points for the Timberwolves, who will take a 2-0 record into their first home game against Portland on Sunday. Rookie guard Emmanuel Mudiay led Denver with 15 points but had just two assists.

Will Barton had 14 points off the bench and Kenneth Faried had 15 rebounds for the Nuggets, who struggled to score two nights after beating Houston by 20 points. Denver shot just 30 percent and trailed the entire night.

        Raptors 113, Celtics 101

BOSTON -- DeMarre Carroll scored 21 points, 10 of them in a 4:12 span of the third quarter, and Terrence Ross had 13 in the fourth quarter to propel Toronto past Boston.

Carroll, who had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists in Toronto's opening win, was 4 of 7 from 3-point range and his third-quarter outburst helped his team turn a halftime tie into a nine-point lead.

From there, Ross took over, scoring 13 of his 21 points in the first 7:22 of the fourth quarter. His 3-pointer gave the Raptors a 101?84 lead with 5:51 remaining.

        Suns 110, Blazers 92

PHOENIX -- Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight combined for 40 points as Phoenix outlasted Portland.

Bledsoe had 22 points thanks to 10-of-11 free throw shooting. Knight added 18 points and Tyson Chandler had 15 points and 13 rebounds while patrolling the paint for the Suns.

The Blazers were led by Damian Lillard with 24 points and CJ McCollum with 16. But the high-scoring backcourt combined to make only 14 of 42 shots from the field.
