Kyrie Irving, Cleveland - Doub Fri

Irving suffered a shoulder injury during Thursday's game and is not expected to play Friday against the Pacers.

Defense making the Cavaliers a hot under play

With yet another under against Golden State Thursday, the Cavaliers continue their under streak since the All-Star Break. In the four games since coming back from the break, the Cavs are 1-3 over/under thanks to their defensive effort.

Over their past four games, the Cavs are allowing 91 points per game which is 7.7 points less than their season average.

Cleveland travels to Indiana with a current total of 199.5 Friday.

Game of the Day: Warriors at Raptors
            ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Golden State Warriors at Toronto Raptors (-1, 215)

The Toronto Raptors finished out a four-game road trip with three straight losses and have the misfortune to host the NBA-best Golden State Warriors on Friday before heading back out on the road. The Raptors get a bit of a break as the Warriors come in on the second night of a back-to-back after battling to a 110-99 loss at Cleveland on Thursday. Golden State is playing its third game in four nights and is slumping on the defensive end.

Toronto point guard Kyle Lowry had an especially tough trip and had some harsh words for himself after practice Thursday. “I’m trash,” Lowry told reporters. “I’m trying to figure it out right now. … We’re just trying to get back to our winning ways.” Lowry scored 22 points at Golden State on Jan. 2, but Stephen Curry countered with 32 and Draymond Green posted a triple-double as the Warriors cruised to a 126-105 victory.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, CSN Bay Area (Golden State), SportsNet (Toronto)

LINE HISTORY: After the Warriors game Thursday night, the line opened at a pick'em with a total of 214. By the morning on Friday the lines had shifted to Toronto -1 and 215.

            INJURY REPORT: Warriors - N/A Raptors - N/A

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (44-11 SU, 33-21-1 ATS, 26-29 O/U): Golden State had no answer on Thursday for LeBron James, who scored a season-high 42 points to lead the Cavaliers. The Warriors came into the trip tops in the NBA in field-goal percentage defense but have allowed each of the last three opponents to shoot 46.8 percent or better from the floor. Curry missed the opener of the trip with a foot injury and had a streak of 12 straight games scoring 20 or more points come to an end when he was limited to 18 on 5-of-17 shooting Thursday.

ABOUT THE RAPTORS (37-20 SU, 27-29-1 ATS, 30-27 O/U): Toronto is holding down the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference but is just one game up on hard-charging Cleveland and needs to figure out some things on offense after failing to reach 100 points in any of the last three games and five of six. Lowry is 14-of-47 from the floor over the last three games, including 3-of-22 from beyond the arc. The All-Star guard is not getting much help from backcourt mate DeMar DeRozan, who is 17-of-50 from the field in the last three games with more turnovers (nine) than assists (eight).

            TRENDS:

*Warriors are 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 vs. Eastern Conference.
*Raptors are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games.
*Under is 6-1 in Warriors last 7 overall.
*Over is 4-0 in Raptors last 4 vs. NBA Pacific.

CONSENSUS: 62.68 percent of users are behind the Warriors with 56.9 percent on the over.

                February 27, 2015

MIAMI HEAT (25-31) at NEW ORLEANS PELICANS (30-27)

                Tip-off: Friday, 8:05 p.m. ET
                Sportsbook.ag Line & Total: Miami -1.0, Total: 195

The New Orleans Pelicans hope to continue a recent three-game winning streak when they host the Miami Heat on Friday night.

Miami has taken hit after hit this year with injuries, but it comes into this contest with a solid run of four SU victories in its past six games (2-3-1 ATS) as each win came while being the favorite. The teams that they beat are some of the bottom-feeders in the NBA, though, with two of them coming against New York followed by Philadelphia and Orlando. In the most recent contest against the Magic they just barely edged out a 93-90 win as three-point favorites on the road despite shooting a putrid 38.1% from the floor. In the end it came down to who could protect the ball better as the Heat gave up the rock 12 times compared to forcing Orlando into 18 turnovers.

The Pelicans have also been hit by the injury bug this year but have come out of the All-Star break with wins in three of the past four games both SU and ATS. They were considered the underdog in each of the games as they won by an average of 7.7 PPG and shot better than 51% as a team in each of the last two outings. Brooklyn was their latest victim when they traveled to the “Big Easy” and took a 102-96 defeat while giving 2.5 points to the home team. New Orleans overcame its 20 turnovers with some impressive shooting (51.4% FG) and was a solid 11-for-25 from long range. Miami has played to a similar level both on the road and at home as they have gone 15-15 SU (15-12-3 ATS) in away games, but its opponent is a solid 19-10 SU (17-11-1 ATS) in front of its fans.

The last meeting between the clubs was just a few days ago, last Saturday to be exact, and it was part of the Pelicans three-game winning streak they are currently riding as they defeated the Heat by a score of 105-91 as 2.5-point underdogs on the road. It was a great win for New Orleans since they had both PFs Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson go down with injuries early on and pulled together while forcing Miami into 17 turnovers. Historically, the Pelicans (formally the Hornets) have performed great against this opponent at home, compiling a 22-6 SU and ATS record since 1996 and won the last time here 105-95 while getting five points.

Trends show us that Miami is 212-171 ATS (55%) in road games after a contest where they failed to cover the spread since 1996 as they are a mere 5-16 ATS (24%) after one or more consecutive wins this year. There are a multitude of injuries that will factor into the outcome of this contest as SF Luol Deng (Head) is probable and PF Chris Bosh (Blood Clot) is slated to miss the remainder of the season for the Heat. It isn’t much better for New Orleans with PF Anthony Davis (Shoulder), PF Ryan Anderson (Knee) and PG Jrue Holiday (Ankle) all out for this matchup.

The Heat play a very slow-paced game and are putting up a mere 93.5 PPG (3rd-worst in league) behind some solid shooting (45.5% FG, 11th in league). The slow pace has not allowed their opponents many chances to score as they are netting 96.7 PPG (4th in league) on 45.6% shooting (7th-worst in league). SG Dwyane Wade (20.9 PPG, 5.2 APG, 1.1 SPG) returned from a seven-game hiatus due to injury after the All-Star break and has scored 16.8 PPG (39% FG) since coming back. He took 23 shots against New Orleans last week, making just eight (35% FG) as he totaled 19 points with four rebounds and four assists.

PG Goran Dragic (16.1 PPG, 4.1 APG, 1.0 SPG) was a big addition for this Miami squad but seems to still be looking for his footing after a poor performance (8 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds) against the Magic. The Pelicans were the first team he faced with his new club as he went for 12 points and three rebounds. C Hassan Whiteside (10.3 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 2.4 BPG) is proving that he is the real deal with double-doubles in four of his last five games in which he averaged 13.4 PPG (55% FG), 13.2 RPG and 2.0 BPG. He was phenomenal against New Orleans on Saturday with 11 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks.

New Orleans sits right in the middle of the pack in nearly all stats as they are scoring 99.7 PPG (18th in league) on 45.4% shooting (14th in league). It is a similar story on the other side of the ball as they are giving up 99.4 PPG (16th in league) behind 45.9% shooting (5th-worst in league). SG Tyreke Evans (16.6 PPG, 6.3 APG, 5.4 RPG, 1.2 SPG) will need to carry this team over the next few weeks and has posted three double-doubles in the last four games as he shot a disappointing 18-of-53 (34% FG). He struggled against Miami with 13 points on 4-of-14 shooting and added six assists with three steals.

SG Eric Gordon (12.7 PPG, 3.9 APG) is coming off a poor performance against the Nets as he made a meager 2-of-11 attempts for eight points as he added six rebounds and four assists. He was the main piece in defeating the Heat in their last meeting as he totaled 24 points, six assists and four rebounds. PG Norris Cole (6.7 PPG, 3.5 APG) was a much needed addition with Holiday out and has averaged 12.7 PPG with 4.0 APG over three contests with his new club. He opened this new chapter in his career with 12 points, six rebounds and a steal in the win over Miami.

                  February 27, 2015

Warriors at Raptors – 7:35 PM EST

Golden State plays with no rest tonight following a 110-99 setback at Cleveland on Thursday as three-point underdogs. The Warriors are playing their eighth road contest in the last nine trips to the court, as Steve Kerr’s team has struggled to cover numbers away from Oracle Arena recently by compiling a 1-6 ATS mark in the past seven away games. Golden State is currently riding a 6-1 run to the ‘under,’ while scoring 99 points or less four times in this stretch.

Since blowing out Atlanta, 105-80 to start the second half of the season, Toronto has hit the skids with three consecutive losses. All three defeats came to Southwest Division foes, including blowing a pair of second half leads in setbacks at New Orleans and Dallas earlier this week. The Raptors hit the road again after tonight’s contest with a trip to New York tomorrow, while Dwane Casey’s club plays with revenge against a Golden State squad that ran out Toronto in early January, 126-105 at Oracle Arena. Toronto has been impressive at home this season against Western Conference competition, winning eight of 10 times, including recent victories over the Clippers and Spurs before the All-Star break.

Clippers at Grizzlies – 8:05 PM EST

These two clubs meet for the second time this week, as the Grizzlies got past the Clippers at Staples Center on Monday night, 90-87 to cash as 3 ½-point underdogs. Memphis has dominated Los Angeles the last few seasons, winning seven of the past eight matchups, including each of the first two meetings this season. The Grizzlies picked up a pair of quality wins on their recent three-game Western trip by beating the Blazers and Clippers on a back-to-back set, but slipped up in a 102-90 setback at Sacramento on Wednesday as 6 ½-point road favorites.

Los Angeles continues a four-game road swing after a 110-105 loss at Houston on Wednesday, the second straight defeat since a four-game winning streak. Doc Rivers’ club has eclipsed the 100-point mark in 10 of the past 12 games, but that has resulted in only six ‘overs’ during this stretch. In the last nine contests away from Staples Center, the Clippers have cashed tickets just twice in outright underdog victories at San Antonio and Dallas, as Los Angeles lost by 16 points at Memphis in its last visit to FedEx Forum back in November.

Heat at Pelicans – 8:05 PM EST

Miami needs to win the games against non-playoff competition to help its case to qualify for the postseason. The Heat knocked off the 76ers and Magic earlier this week to improve to 25-31, including a late run to force overtime in Wednesday’s 93-90 triumph at Orlando. Now, Erik Spoelstra’s squad plays with immediate revenge in the Big Easy after getting stomped on by New Orleans last Saturday, 105-91 as two-point home favorites. The Heat hasn’t won three straight games since the starting the season at 3-0, while going 0-5 in the five opportunities off back-to-back wins since November 4.

The Pelicans continue to play without star center Anthony Davis, who is sidelined with a shoulder injury. New Orleans has won three consecutive games since getting tripped up at Orlando last Friday, which includes home victories over Toronto and Brooklyn in the underdog role. In Monday’s 102-96 win over the Nets as 2 ½-point ‘dogs, the Pelicans shot 51% from the floor, while Quincy Pondexter put up a career-high 25 points. New Orleans has dominated in the role of a home ‘dog, covering in eight of 10 opportunities.

Thunder at Blazers – 10:35 PM EST

Oklahoma City couldn’t quite get to nine consecutive victories, as its rally fell short in a 117-113 setback in overtime at Phoenix last night. The Thunder had won and covered its previous eight games, which included three victories without Kevin Durant, who remains sidelined with a foot injury. OKC has performed well without rest this season, posting a 9-3 SU and 8-3-1 ATS record on the second of a back-to-back, including three straight wins on the road in this role. However, the Thunder is playing with double-revenge at the Moda Center after losing twice to the Blazers, including a 115-111 overtime defeat at home in December.

The Blazers finally picked up a win after the All-Star break following low-scoring defeats to the Jazz and Grizzlies as Portland beat San Antonio for the third time this season, 111-95 on Wednesday. LaMarcus Aldridge returned from a one-game absence to shoot 5-of-19 from the floor for 11 points, while Wesley Matthews paced Portland with 31 points. The Blazers have won five of their past six games at the Moda Center, while posting a perfect 4-0 mark at home against division foes this season. Since the start of January, the Blazers own a dreadful 1-7 ATS record coming off an ATS win, including four outright losses in the favorite role.

NBA roundup: Celtics closing in on playoff spot

BOSTON -- The Boston Celtics overcame a 16-point third-quarter deficit and roared to a 106-98 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, further injecting themselves into the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

Despite going more than nine minutes without a field goal in a span bridging the second and third quarters, the Celtics charged back again with newcomers Isaiah Thomas and Jonas Jerebko leading the way.

By winning their third straight, the Celtics, who came in a game out of the playoffs despite sitting in 12th place in the standings, moved closer to an improbable playoff spot that could be earned despite trading Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green and losing Jared Sullinger for the season.

Down 73-57 late in the third quarter, Thomas, the little guard leading a small Boston five, helped his new team rally. He scored 15 points in a 4:45 span between the third and fourth quarters and, just as they had done in Wednesday's win over the New York Knicks, Jerebko and forward Jae Crowder aided the cause.

All three players came off the Boston bench.

Thomas, who averaged 20.3 points in his first three games with the Celtics, finished with a season-high 28 points and seven assists. Jerebko had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Crowder added 14 points and five boards.

                        76ers 89, Wizards 81

PHILADELPHIA -- With his team mired in a losing streak, Washington coach Randy Wittman said before Friday night's game against Philadelphia that the Wizards had "lost some confidence."

The game did nothing to alter Washington's mindset.

Center Nerlens Noel, who finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots, scored nine of his points in the final 2:58, six on dunks, as the Sixers held on to hand the Wizards their sixth straight loss.

Forward Robert Covington had 13 points for Philadelphia (13-45), which snapped its own five-game slide. Guard Jason Richardson had 12.

                        Warriors 113, Raptors 89

TORONTO -- Guard Klay Thompson scored 25 points as Golden State dominated Toronto.

It was the fourth loss in a row for the Raptors (37-21), who have lost both their meetings with the Warriors (45-11) this season.

Guard Stephen Curry added 22 points for Golden State with forward Draymond Green scoring 17 points and adding nine rebounds and guards Shaun Livingston and Leandro Barbosa each contributing 11 points. Center Andrew Bogut had eight rebounds and five points for Golden State.

                        Hawks 95, Magic 88

ATLANTA -- Point guard Jeff Teague scored all 17 of his points in the second half to lead Atlanta to a win over Orlando.

Teague was 0-for-6 from the field in his scoreless first half, but found the range in the second half. He wound up making 6 of 8 in the second half, including a clutch floater with 44 seconds left that gave Atlanta a five-point lead it would not relinquish.

Teague was 4-for-4 at the foul line in the final two minutes and added seven assists.

Atlanta (46-12) also got 20 points from forward Paul Millsap, 17 points and 13 rebounds from center Al Horford and 15 points and eight rebounds from forward DeMarre Carroll.

                        Pacers 93, Cavaliers 86

INDIANAPOLIS -- George Hill amassed his first career triple-double, leading Indiana to a victory against short-handed Cleveland in Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Hill finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists on a night when Cleveland played without All-Stars LeBron James (rest) and Kyrie Irving (left shoulder).

The Cavaliers (37-23), now 2-9 when James does not play, used an 11-0 run to cut Indiana's lead to 85-81 with 1:35 remaining. But Indiana guard Rodney Stuckey, who scored 19, made a 3-pointer with 1:14 to play, creating an 88-81 advantage.

Guard J.R. Smith had 21 for the Cavaliers.

                        Bulls 96, Timberwolves 89

CHICAGO -- Forward Jimmy Butler scored 28 points with 12 rebounds, and Chicago held on to defeat Minnesota.

Forward Mike Dunleavy added 21 points for Chicago, which earned its seventh win in the past nine games. Forward Tony Snell contributed 12 points off the bench for the Bulls (37-22).

Guard Kevin Martin led Minnesota with 18 points. Guard Ricky Rubio added 15 points and 10 assists for the Timberwolves (13-44). Chicago improved to 1-1 since losing guard Derrick Rose to a right knee injury.

                        Pelicans 104, Heat 102

NEW ORLEANS -- Reserve center Alexis Ajinca scored a career-high 24 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter, and Miami guard Dwayne Wade missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds to hand New Orleans a comeback victory over the Heat at the Smoothie King Center.

Trailing by nine points entering the fourth quarter, New Orleans (31-27) scored six straight to open the quarter, with Ajinca converting a conventional three-point play and then getting good position deep in the lane for an easy layup.

The Heat (25-32) were paced by forward Luol Deng with 22 points. Miami outscored the Pelicans 28-19 in the third quarter -- including an 18-8 run in the final 6:05 of the quarter -- to take a 82-73 lead. Center Hassan Whiteside scored eight points in the quarter and the Heat held the Pelicans to 7-of-19 shooting from the field.

                        Clippers 97, Grizzlies 79

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Guards Chris Paul and Jamal Crawford scored 19 points each, guard J.J. Redick added 18 points and center DeAndre Jordan grabbed 22 rebounds to lead Los Angeles to a victory over Memphis at FedExForum.

The Clippers (38-21) snapped a three-game losing streak to the Grizzlies, who beat the Clippers 90-87 on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Memphis (41-16) lost for only the second time in its last 13 home games.

The Grizzlies were led by forward Zach Randolph, who scored 20 points. The team's other four starters -- center Marc Gasol, forward Jeff Green and guards Courtney Lee and Mike Conley -- combined to go 10 of 36. Green scored just two points, both on free throws, while going 0-for-6 from the field. Memphis shot 38 percent and failed to score 100 points for the eighth straight game.

                        Rockets 102, Nets 98

HOUSTON -- James Harden overcame a poor shooting performance with a handful of critical plays down the stretch, leading Houston to a win over Brooklyn at Toyota Center.

The Rockets trailed 91-83 with 4:08 remaining before making one last push, sparked by a driving layup from forward Terrence Jones. After forward Trevor Ariza added a three-point play, Jones delivered another basket inside before Harden delivered on multiple fronts in the clutch.

Harden assisted on a 3-pointer from guard Patrick Beverley that pulled the Rockets (40-18) even at 95-95 before hitting the floor for a loose ball, securing possession prior to a timeout. He added a free throw and a deft step-back jumper that pushed Houston ahead to stay 98-95.

Harden finished with 15 points and 12 assists to overshadow his 4-for-15 shooting. Jones paced the Rockets with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Brooklyn (23-33) placed six in double figures, with guard Deron Williams and center Mason Plumlee sharing scoring honors with 15 points apiece.

                        Knicks 121, Pistons 115 (2 OT)

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Center Andrea Bargnani had a season-high 25 points and 12 rebounds and New York snapped an eight-game losing streak with a double-overtime victory over Detroit at The Palace.

Power forward Lou Amundson contributed 17 points and a career-high-tying 14 rebounds for the Knicks (11-46), who erased an 18-point deficit in regulation. Guard Tim Hardaway Jr. added 18 points and reserve guard Shane Larkin chipped in 16 points for New York. Point guard Langston Galloway hit a game-tying 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation and finished with 12 points.

Power forward Greg Monroe led the Pistons with 28 points and 13 rebounds. Center Andre Drummond supplied 21 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks for Detroit (23-35), while shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 19 points. Point guard Reggie Jackson contributed 16 points but shot 5-for-24 from the field, and shooting guard Jodie Meeks also tossed in 16 points off the bench.

                        Jazz 104, Nuggets 82

DENVER -- Forward Derrick Favors had 21 points and 10 rebounds and guard Trey Burke scored 19 points as Utah beat Denver.

Forward Gordon Hayward scored 15 points for Utah (22-35), which shook off a tough home loss to the L.A. Lakers on Wednesday. The Jazz have won five of seven games to move ahead of Denver in the Northwest Division.

Forwards Will Barton and Danilo Gallinari led Denver again, with 22 and 13 points, respectively. The Nuggets, who have dropped 18 of 20, suffered their ninth straight loss at home. It’s the third-longest home losing streak in team history and the longest overall since dropping 11 straight at McNichols Arena from Dec. 16, 1997-Jan. 29, 1998.

The Nuggets struggled despite the return of forwards Wilson Chandler and Kenneth Faried. Chandler missed two games with left adductor soreness and Faried was out one game with a bruised left thumb.

                        Spurs 107, Kings 96

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Guard Tony Parker scored 19 points, and guard Kawhi Leonard added 17 points, as San Antonio put an end to its slumping ways with a victory over Sacramento at Sleep Train Arena.

The two guards, who lapsed into a shooting slump during a four-game San Antonio skid, combined to make 14 of 30 shots, and Parker helped fuel a fourth-quarter run that helped the Spurs win. Parker hit shots on consecutive possessions during the Spurs' 18-8 run that broke an 80-80 tie.

Parker missed five of his first six shots against Sacramento, extending his shooting slump to 4-for-27 over three-plus games. But he made six of 10 the rest of the way. Leonard made half of his 14 shots after going 8-for-19 in his previous two contests.

Guard Manu Ginobili added 16 points for San Antonio, which won for the third time in eight games on a season-long nine-game road trip. Forward Tim Duncan contributed 12 points and six rebounds.

Guard Ben McLemore finished with a season-high 21 points for Sacramento, and guard Ray McCallum added a season-best 20 points in 35 minutes. But the Kings (20-36) turned over the ball 17 times and were outscored 24-6 on points coming from turnovers.

                        Lakers 101, Bucks 93

LOS ANGELES -- Guard Wayne Ellington scored all 14 of his points in the fourth quarter, and Los Angeles defeated Milwaukee at Staples Center.

Ellington missed his first six shots before heating up in the final period. He connected on six of seven shots from the floor in the fourth and six of 13 overall as the Lakers (16-41) won their third in a row. It's only the second time this season Los Angeles has put together a three-game winning streak and the first one since early December.

Point guard Jordan Clarkson led the Lakers' scoring with 16 points. Guard Jeremy Lin and center Jordan Hill came off the bench to score 14 apiece.

Forward Ersan Ilyasova had 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 13 points and eight boards to lead the Bucks (32-26), who dropped their third in four contests.

                        Trail Blazers 115, Thunder 112

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Forward LaMarcus Aldridge and guard Damian Lillard each scored 29 points as Portland came from behind to beat Oklahoma City at the Moda Center.

Guard Arron Affalo came off the bench for 18 points in his third game with the Trail Blazers (38-19), who trailed by 15 points in the third quarter.

Portland overcame a sensational performance by Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook, who had 40 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists while notching his second triple-double in as many nights. But Westbrook missed the first of three free throws with 2.3 seconds left and the Thunder behind 113-110.

Rookie center Mitch McGary scored a season-high 20 points to go with nine rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench for the Thunder (32-27).
