Tony Parker, San Antonio - Ques Mon

Parker has a hamstring injury and did not play Sunday. He is questionable for Monday's game against the Blazers.

Joakim Noah, Chicago - Ques Mon

Noah has missed the last three games with an ankle injury and is questionable to return Monday against the Hawks.

Knicks guard Shumpert to miss three weeks

The New York Knicks announced that shooting guard Iman Shumpert will miss at least three weeks with a dislocated shoulder.

Shumpert collided with the Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green in Friday night's game. He had an MRI Saturday which confirmed the dislocation.

The guard is averaging 9.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game so far this season.

Low scores lead to cashed Under bets Sunday

Football wasn't the only sport which had under bettors cashing tickets at a rampant rate Sunday. The Under went 6-1 in the seven games on the NBA schedule Sunday.

Only the Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Pelicans finished over the total as the teams combined for 250 points.

The season-to-date Over/Under record now sits at 173-177 (50.57 percent).

        Armadillo: Tuesday's six-pack

-- Cavaliers 97, Hornets 88-- Cleveland led 21-0 in this mismatch.

-- Pacers 110, Lakers 91-- Indiana had lost 8 in row; they were up 33 at half.

-- "They don't know how to lead and organize and set a culture for doing what you have to do to play winning NFL football." Bernie Kosar, on the Browns

-- Nick Foles isn't cleared to play yet; Mark Sanchez starts again this week for the Eagles at Washington.

-- Chris Bosh is out a few weeks, Josh McRoberts might be done for the year; not the best of times for the 11-13 Miami Heat.

-- Aaron Kromer shouldn't have said what he said, but he was right.

        **********

Armadillo: Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but..........

        13) Cowboys’ RB DeMarco Murray broke his left hand, probably won't play this week; he was on pace to carry ball 401 times this season, which means he was headed to Jamal Anderson-type burnout. 401 carries is too many; he could use a rest.

        12) Will Muschamp has been hired as Auburn’s defensive coordinator, but he won’t be working the Tigers’ bowl game; why? He’s more valuable recruiting right now than coaching in a meaningless bowl.

Signing Day is in early February which means that recruiting season overlaps with bowl preparations. Bruce Feldman wrote an excellent book about this a few years ago; if you like college football, Meat Market is well worth your time.

        11) Miami Hurricanes haven’t won a bowl game since 2006, which seems odd.

        10) San Diego State is playing Navy in the Poinsettia Bowl; Aztecs won their last eight games against service academies and they play Air Force (best of the academy teams) every year.

        9) Bryce Harper signed a 2-year deal with Washington for $7.5, couple days after he stiffed the team's fans by not showing up at FanFest, where obviously enough, fans can come and meet players and buy tickets and stuff. Cruddy move by Harper; shouldn’t stiff the fans.

        8) Speaking of the Nationals, why are they so eager to unload Jordan Zimmerman? Good young pitchers are hard to find these days.

        7) Miami Dolphins were outscored 48-3 in second half of their last two games, news that makes Jim Harbaugh’s agent smile. Price for Harbaugh goes up every week.

        6) Odd stat of the day; Green Bay Packers were outscored in second half in seven of their last eight games- they’re also 1-4 on artificial turf this season.

        5) Daniel Snyder bought the Redskins in 1999; since then, he’s employed eight head coaches and 16 starting QBs. In 16 years. Yikes. Snyder must be some kind of financial wizard; he had enough money to buy an NFL team when he was 34, and I’m pretty sure he made his own money rather than inheriting it.

        4) Not to be outdone, Cleveland Browns have had 21 starting QBs since ’99, but they were an expansion team in ’99, and they figure to be settling in now on Johnny Manziel as their starter the next few years. At least they hope they are.

        3) Burt Reynolds is selling off some of his stuff to pay bills; the Trans Am he drove in Smokey and the Bandit brought back $450K last week.

        2) Lakers are 8-17 this season, but 7-8 since Nick Young returned to the lineup. Young is a loose cannon, but a loose cannon that can make shots and he’s helped take some heat off of Kobe Bryant down the stretch in games.

        1) After watching a few episodes of Storage Wars, I’m guessing it can be annoying to live with an auctioneer; how would you ever get the last word in?

                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game of the Day: Warriors at Grizzlies
                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Golden State Warriors at Memphis Grizzlies (-2.5, OFF)

The Golden State Warriors survived a back-to-back on the road with their winning streak intact and are staring at their toughest test of the last month. The Warriors will attempt to push their franchise-record winning streak to 17 games when they visit the team closest to them in the Western Conference in the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. The Grizzlies are winners of four in a row but needed overtimes to knock off lowly Charlotte and Philadelphia in the last two.

Golden State was forced into overtime in its last game as well but Stephen Curry scored eight of his 34 points in the extra period and the Warriors pulled off a 128-122 victory to run their record road winning streak to 10 in a row. Memphis appears to be in the best position to knock off Golden State, which is playing the finale of a three-game road trip and will again be without center Andrew Bogut (knee) and forward David Lee (hamstring). The Grizzlies recovered from an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter and forced overtime on Mike Conley’s 3-pointer in Saturday’s 120-115 win at Philadelphia.

INJURY REPORT: Warriors - F David Lee (Out, hamstring), C Andrew Bogut (Out, knee), F Harrison Barnes (Questionable, nasal fracture).

                POWER RANKINGS: Warriors (-13.5) + Grizzlies (-12.8) + home court (-3.0) = Grizzlies -2.3

ABOUT THE WARRIORS (21-2): Golden State had to fight hard to earn a win over Dallas on Saturday and was down eight in the fourth quarter against New Orleans before rallying behind Curry. “This is kind of what I expected — not the crazy pyrotechnics from Steph (Curry), although that doesn’t ever surprise me — but it’s natural to have a letdown,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters. “We didn’t (defend or take care of the ball), but thankfully, we’ve got really, really talented players, and we’ve got an incredibly strong competitive desire to win.” Curry has gone for 20 or more points in four straight games and handed out at least five assists in every game this season.

ABOUT THE GRIZZLIES (19-4): Memphis trailed 95-77 with 7:39 left in the fourth quarter at Philadelphia before Conley took over, nailing a pair of 3-pointers to keep it close before tying it up at the buzzer and draining another triple to help seal it in overtime. The result was a career-high 36 points for Conley, who is averaging 23.8 points over the last four games while going 36-of-57 from the floor. The Grizzlies are leaning hard on their point guard, and Conley matched a season high with 42 minutes in each of the last two games.

                TRENDS:

                * Favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.
                * Grizzlies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games playing on two days rest.
                * Under is 6-2 in Warriors last eight overall.
                * Warriors are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings.

CONSENSUS: Accord to Consensus, 55 percent of bettors are backing the Warriors.

                    Tuesday, December 16

Thunder put three streaks on the line Tuesday

The Oklahoma City Thunder are putting three hot streaks on the line Tuesday evening. The Thunder have covered the spread in six-straight games, they have a four-game straight up winning streak and they have won 11 in-a-row against Tuesday's opponent - the Sacramento Kings.

The last time the Thunder dropped a game to the Kings SU was back on Feb. 9, 2012. The Kings won 106-101 and covered as 6.5-point underdogs. Since that game, the Thunder have gone 6-4-1 ATS versus the Kings.

The Thunder have opened as 7.5-point favorites at the Kings.

Chris Bosh, Miami - Out indefinitely

Bosh is dealing with a calf strain and does not have a timetable for return.

                    Jabari Parker, Milwaukee - day-to-day

Parker left Monday's game against the Suns with a left knee injury and is questionable to return.

Kings open as home dogs in first game without Malone

The Sacramento Kings begin life after the firing of head coach Mike Malone as 7.5-point home underdogs against the Oklahoma City Thunder as lines have hit the board at various sports books Tuesday.

The Kings fired Malone Monday after 24 games. Tyrone Corbin has been named the interim head coach.

The total has opened at 203.4

                      Tuesday's Tip Sheet

                      December 16, 2014

Wolves at Wizards – 7:05 PM EST

It’s hard to be competitive in this league when three of your top players are sidelined for an extended period of time. That’s the case for Minnesota, who continue to play without Ricky Rubio, Kevin Martin, and Nikola Pekovic, as the Wolves have lost eight of their past nine games to fall to a Western Conference-worst 5-18. It’s easy to make money off Minnesota on the road, just fade them. The Wolves are 1-7 SU and 1-6-1 ATS in the past eight away contests, with six of those losses by double-digits.

Washington continues to fight it out with Atlanta for the top spot in the Southeast Division, as the Wizards have won eight of their last nine contests. The Wizards escaped past the Jazz on Sunday night, 93-84, but failed to cover as 11-point favorites, as Randy Wittman’s team is now 1-4 ATS the last five games. Since outlasting the Celtics in two overtimes last week, the Wizards have allowed 96 points or less in their last three wins, cashing the ‘under’ each time.

Heat at Nets – 7:35 PM EST

The injury bug has nailed the Heat at the worst possible time, as Chris Bosh is sidelined indefinitely with a calf injury, while Josh McRoberts is likely done for the season following knee surgery. To boot, Dwyane Wade is questionable for tonight’s action with an illness, as the Heat are coming off an ugly 93-75 home loss to the Bulls on Sunday night. Miami has dropped six of its previous eight games, while scoring 87 points or fewer in six of the past nine trips to the court, resulting in a 6-3 ‘under’ run.

The Nets will look to take advantage of Miami’s struggles and limited roster as Brooklyn tries to avenge a 95-83 home loss to the Heat last month as eight-point favorites. Brooklyn sits two games below .500 entering tonight’s action with a tough road swing at Toronto and Cleveland coming up. However, the Nets can get right back in the playoff race with games against the Pistons, Nuggets, Celtics, Pacers, and Kings coming up before the New Year. The 114 points up in Saturday’s blowout of Charlotte snapped a 14-game streak of scoring 100 points or less in regulation.

Warriors at Grizzlies – 8:05 PM EST

Golden State continues to dominate, whether it be in the Bay Area or on the highway. Steve Kerr’s squad is riding a 16-game winning streak as the Warriors improved to 21-2 with Sunday’s 128-122 overtime triumph at New Orleans, but the Pelicans barely covered as 6 ½-point underdogs. During this hot streak, the Warriors have covered 11 of 16 times, including an impressive 7-3 ATS road record. Golden State split four meetings with Memphis last season, while dropping four of the past five visits to FedEx Forum.

The Grizzlies look for their fifth straight victory tonight, although the last two weren’t easy to come by against struggling squads. Memphis rallied past Charlotte on Friday in two overtimes, then needed to erase a six-point deficit in the final minute the next night against the lowly 76ers in a 120-115 triumph. The Grizzlies failed to cover in each of those wins as double-digit favorites, as Memphis is in the midst of a rough gauntlet with a trip to San Antonio tomorrow night, followed by games against the Bulls and Cavaliers. The Spurs are the only team to leave Memphis with a victory this season, as the Grizzlies own an 11-1 SU and 6-6 ATS mark at home.

Jazz at Pelicans – 8:05 PM EST

Utah continues a five-game road trip tonight in the Big Easy, as the Jazz have lost seven of their past eight on the highway. Quin Snyder’s team dropped the opener of this swing at Washington, 93-84, as Utah held the Wizards to 37 first half points, but a 30-16 third quarter run by the Wizards put the game out of reach. The Jazz has scored 93 points or less in five straight road games, while Utah is 0-5 ATS in its previous games off a cover, coming off an ATS win at Washington as 11-point ‘dogs.

Anthony Davis is a game-time decision for the Pelicans tonight after missing Sunday’s loss to the Warriors with a chest injury suffered in Friday’s win over the Cavaliers. New Orleans has covered each of its past five games, while riding a four-game ‘over’ streak. In eight home contests, the Pelicans have cashed five times, while New Orleans goes for its second win over Utah this season after blowing out the Jazz last month, 106-94 in Salt Lake City.

Mavericks at Knicks – 8:05 PM EST

Dallas is looking to avoid just its second two-game losing streak of the season, coming off Saturday’s home loss to streaking Golden State, 105-98. This season, the Mavs are 6-1 SU and 4-3 ATS off a defeat and hope to get swingman Chandler Parsons back in the lineup after missing Saturday’s game with a back injury. Dallas held off New York in its past matchup in overtime last month, 109-102 as the Knicks covered as 14-point underdogs with Carmelo Anthony sidelined due to injury.

Anthony’s Knicks are past hitting the skids, as New York has dropped 11 of its previous 12 games with the lone victory in this stretch coming last Friday night at Boston. The Knicks have lost five straight games at Madison Square Garden, but Derek Fisher’s team has managed three straight covers as home ‘dogs in losses to the Raptors, Blazers, and Cavaliers. The struggles to figure out the triangle offense is resulting in plenty of ‘unders,’ especially at home by cashing the ‘under’ in six of the last seven at MSG.

Thunder at Kings – 10:35 PM EST

That was fast. Oklahoma City and Sacramento each own identical 11-13 records even though the Thunder began the season at 3-12 and the Kings put together a respectable 9-5 start. Obviously the return of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant to the OKC lineup will make any team more competitive, as the Thunder has won six straight games, while covering each of the past four contests. Since Westbrook has come back to the lineup, the Thunder has eclipsed the 103-point mark in seven of the previous eight games, as OKC hit that mark just once in the first 16 contests of the season.

The Kings begin the Tyrone Corbin era tonight, as the former Jazz head coach takes over for Michael Malone, who was fired after putting together a 39-67 record. DeMarcus Cousins will miss his 10th straight game tonight with a viral infection, as Sacramento has lost seven of the past nine contests. The Kings were limited to 35% shooting in Saturday’s 95-90 home loss to the unrested Pistons, while Sacramento has covered just once in its past seven games at Sleep Train Arena. Sacramento will look to snap a long skid against Oklahoma City, losing each of the past 11 meetings with the Thunder since 2012.

                          **********

Armadillo: Wednesday's List of 13: Doing some thinking out loud.......

                          13) Vanak Ranadive, new owner of the Sacramento Kings turns out to be a nitwit, a guy other NBA owners see as “…..a know-it-all” who compared coaching the Kings to coaching his 12-year old daughter’s team.

This is a guy who admits he never touched a basketball, not even once until he was in his 40’s, but he knows more than professional coaches. Oy. How do people like this get rich in the first place?

                          12) Kings fired coach Michael Malone with an 11-13 record, which for the Kings ain’t bad; they were 9-6 before DeMarcus Cousins got sick, are 2-7 since he’s been ill, but the problem is stylistic. Kings management wants the team to play faster, Malone is a defensive guy. So despite big man Cousins being Sacramento’s best player, they’re going to start playing faster; whether they win more remains to be seen.

                          11) Mr Ranadive suggested that the Kings play 4-on-5 on defense and have a guy basket-hang on the other end; this is professional basketball, the highest level of a great sport and this educated fool doesn’t know enough to let his people do their jobs.

                          10) Which reminds me, the LA Kiss of the Arena League were on a reality show this past season; one of their nitwit owners ordered the coach to onside kick after every TD the Kiss scored. The coach has won Arenaball titles, he’s a good coach but he had to do what the owner told him to do, so they onside-kicked every time in one game. Lets just say it didn’t go very well. There is a reason some things are the way they’ve been for a long time; its because the alternatives do not work.

                          9) Back in 2009, the Rams were truly awful; they were getting hammered in a home game against Minnesota, when Donnie Avery scored a TD to cut the Vikings’ lead to two or three TDs- the game wasn’t close, but Avery dances and carries on like he just won the lottery.

This stuff annoys me to no end and Avery is hardly the only offender; it happens every Sunday. Celebrating a TD like a jackass should be illegal after Halloween, if your team is behind and has a losing record. Pretend you care that your team sucks, instead of being full of yourself and being a damn fool.

                          8) Christmas music is uplifting, especially in malls this time of year, but if you haven’t seen Michigan State hoop coach Tom Izzo playing Jingle Bells on an accordion, get yourself to YouTube right now and find it—it is tremendous.

                          7) Amazing Stat of the Day—New Orleans Saints have had a great offense, but they haven’t scored a first quarter TD in their last ten road games. Ten. That’s well over a year and it is hard to fathom.

                          6) Deion Sanders’ old house is on the market for $12M; it has two bowling alleys in it. It would be so awesome to have a house with bowling alleys in it. Not sure if the $12M includes bowling shoes or if you have to rent those.

                          5) No matter what the NFC South winner’s record winds up as, and it looks like it’ll be under .500, they will not be able to draft higher than 21st, those are the rules, just like the Super Bowl champ always picks last in the first round.

                          4) Portland center Robin Lopez, the more durable of the Lopez brothers, broke his hand and will miss his first games in almost three years this week. Portland has a really good team, one of many strong teams out west who probably wish they were in the east.

                          3) Astros signed SS Jed Lowie to a 3-year, $23M contract; this was a guy they threw at multiple times LY, almost starting a fracas in one game with Oakland. Guess it was former manager Bo Porter who didn’t like Lowrie, since he is gone now and the Astros just made Lowrie very wealthy.

                          2) Still don’t think an under-.500 NFL team should make the playoffs; they should defer to a better team in another division with a winning record. Who would object to this?

                          1) Jeb Bush might be the greatest guy in the world, I know nothing about him except he was once governor of Florida, but I don’t want anyone else in that family (or the Clinton family) being President. Enough already.

I’d vote for Reggie Bush, Kurt Busch, former NFL center Blair Bush, August Busch, anyone but someone from that family. Go do something else. We need different, better leaders, not the same ol’ thing over and over.
