  • Is Albert Pujols worth overpaying for?

Whoever signs him will overpay for him. 10 year $300 mill minimum. Will he be worth it?

Absolutely NOT .... at the numbers you posted (10/300). No Way. Maybe if he was 26 or 27 but not at 32 years old. A 5 year deal for 120-130 would make a hell of a lot more sense than 10 IMO. Pay til he is 37, not 42.

I don't see it kb. Don't think the Cards can afford that. Too much of their payroll. Normally if the Sox or Yankees were in it, maybe, but they are both set at 1B and that will leave the options very limited for Albert because he doesn't want to DH. Cubs have too many big bad contracts already and with a payroll around 125 mil, i don't see them doing it either. Just can't see it happening kb but we will see.

Nobody is dumb enough to pay him that kind of cash. Since we ar4e no longer in the roid era almost everyone is done by 37 or 38. The days of a 40 year old hitting 30-40 HRs is over. You will be lucky to get 5-6 productive years out of him. I agree with Wayne 5 years 120 - 130 nwould be more than enough.

Its funny how MLB has kept Pujol's name out of the HGH discussion .I guess they need to have Superstar that can promote a clean image .Unfortunatedly he's as dirty as the rest IMO .At 32 yrs old I'd say 4yrs at 200mil with an option for a fifth .I agree though ,someone will give him alot more...hopefully not The Giants .

As Wayne knows I live here, diehard Cardinal fans and season ticket holders. Would be overpaying big time last few years of contract. IF he is 32 and IF he has never been on the juice. Signs point towards both, injuries happening more frequently and his patience at the plate even with more protection has declined.
Cards offered him 9 yrs $195 million. If that is not good enough. Don't think they are going much more crazy than that.
