I'll probably play England, Spain, and a long shot.

No European team has ever won a World Cup that was played outside Europe. Only 2 teams from outside South America and Europe have ever advanced to the semifinals (USA and South Korea) and neither advanced to the finals. I wouldn't be surprised to see an African team knock off some big names and advance, but I don't think any of them can win it all. Give me Brazil and Argentina.

Pretty similar to their draw in 2006 when they had to face Argentina and the Netherlands. They lost both of those games 2-1. They've got some star power in their lineup headed up by Didier Drogba who lead the English Premier League with 29 goals this season. Wouldn't be surprised to see that team knock Portugal out, but they've got a really tough draw to advance.

I gotta figure that's what's driving the odds along with English fans. Otherwise, there's no reasonable explanation for that team to be anywhere near 6/1.

the only reason I like the two teams I mentioned above is based on the factor that both countires colonized S. Africa at one point in history. My plays are based only on the notion that it would be a sexy story line for the networks to push down our throats.

I like Spain, Brazil, Portugal, or the Dutch to have a shot. Yes I know Spain and Brazil are the top two rated teams but how can you go against Brazil? They are younger and better than last time.

For all those Ivory Coast fans note Drogba did break his arm and he declared himself as not playing but the coaching staff seems to think he will play.
