Who Has the Best 1-2 Punch in Baseball?

If you proposed Beckett for Cain and Linecum as Savage states he wouldn't do, I'm willing to bet a large amount that all 30 GM's across MLB would send Beckett packing. If they wouldn't, they're name would be Minaya and he'll be fired soon anyway. Sorry 3J

Savage, I love Beckett too but don't let your heart get in the way on this one. It isn't even close.

Lincecum is 25 years old, he makes $650,000 this year, he has a (36-13) career record for poor Giants teams, He has a career Era of 2.91 and he has 598 K's in only 522 career innings pitched.

Beckett is 4 years older (29) and he makes over 11 Million this year. It isn't even a debate here. You have to take Lincecum. Beckett's numbers are great but they are still not as good as Lincecum's.

If you remember, I stated or at least tried to imply that salary was not a consideration in this matter.
Lets put it this way if the deal was offered before July 31 of the trading deadline, Beckett for Lincecum or Beckett for Lincecum and Cain, there is no way I would take it- a proven great clutch pitcher in Boston who has won some WS and pitched well in the playoffs for some pitchers who have NEVER pitched in the AL on more importantly for the Red Sox or in Boston or Fenway.
I would not gamble that for this season that either one or both of those guys could step in and do what Beckett has done-where would Sox be this year without Beckett?
At a later date, I might consider a deal but not now.

Beckett has been the backbone of the Red Sox pitching staff for several seasons-Lincecum and Cain are very good pitchers in the NL but untested in the AL(Lincecum actualy looked kind oif shaky during his stint the All star Game lol)-seriously I doubt Sox would gamble away this season for two pitchers who haven't proven themselves in Boston or against the tought AL and AL East rivals when they have a PROVEN great pitcher-think what you want-I disagree re: what the Red Sox would do if that offer was on the table today and only for today.

I have been watching and following the Sox for 57 years to be exact and I know a great Sox pitcher when I see one;he is a rare commodity and I sure as heck wouldn't gamble him away in the hopes that Lincecum and Cain(2 NL pitchers who play in the weak ML West) could match what he has done
