Tampa Bay has the most well rounded line-up, top to bottom of all these teams. Not to mention young pitching, which helps avoid injuries. I think NY comes in second and wins the WC, because, well...... they have a billion dollar team. I think Boston misses the playoff altogether, and has a HUGE letdown season. I keep looking at this team, and asking myself, what makes them so good??? Go ahead Wayne fire away.

and can you explain how tampa bay has the most well rounded lineup????

            define "well rounded" please....

tampa bay - IWAMURA, CRAWFORD, UPTON, PENA, LONGORIA, HINSKE, NAVARRO, GROSS, BARTLETT

new york - DAMON, JETER, TEIXEIRA, AROD, NADY, POSADA, GIAMBI, MATSUI, CANO

....for the record I can't stand the yankees, but I can't imagine any scenario where the rays will finish ahead of the yankees again....

Well rounded- having a balanced variety of attributes. Or in baseball terms having a balance of speed, power, contact, righties and lefties.....

First, you're Tampa Bay lineup is incorrect. It reads: Iwamura/Crawford/Upton/Pena/Longoria/Burrell/((Gross or Joyce))/Navarro/Bartlett. Also Giambi is not on the Yankees anymore, he is on the A's, Matsui is moved to DH and Cabrera will play the OF. But here's my break down on the Rays well-rounded line up......

NUMBER 1- the yankees have little to no speed in their lineup, i would not be surprised if they finish dead last in SBs. While the rays have Iwamura, Crawford, and Upton, who will all probably end with 20+ and Crawford with 30-40. Can't argue speed.

NUMBER 2- You would think the Yanks, but aside from Tex and A-Rod, there's not much power. I think the Rays have just as powerful a lineup with Pena, Longoria and Burrell. Burrell hit 33 HRs last year, and is batting 6TH! Hard to say that's not a powerful line-up, but if need be, give the edge to the Yanks.

NUMBER 3- Contact. When you look at the averages, after Jet,Tex, A-Rod, there is NO ONE in the Yanks line up hitting at a well average. I think its pretty obvious on the Rays here.

              NUMBER 4- Balance.
              Rays- L - L - R - L - R - R - L - S - R
              Yanks- L - R - S - R - S - L - R - S - L
The switch in the three spot is Tex, who over the last three years has hit better 20 points better batting right than lefty. Meaning a good RH specialist would give the Yanks a tough time in that 2,3,4 hole. But nevertheless balance isn't always very important, so call it a tie, if you'd like, or even a Yanks win if you want.
The Yanks line-up is speed deprived with little contact, which begs a lot of reliance on the long ball, which is not usually a good recipe for a lineup. The Rays line up has a little bit of everything. They are much more "well rounded."
