I think the new from the 50 would be cool. Make sure they pick up a first down or 2 to get to a field goal.

I like the playing of a certian amount of time on the clock, but believe 10 minutes is too much time, I think 5 minute overtime would be sufficent.
Nothing is as far away as one minute ago.

hey use more than 5 minutes in the 1 possesion sudden death usually. I like the timed period too but it's noy hoops and i believe you need 10 minutes to make sure each team gas a good shot at getting the ball.

I think 10 minutes will extend games too long as far as the networks are concerned, maybe make it a 6 or 7 minute period. If they used 5 min the the team on def would have to stand up and not allow more than 2 first downs so they would have a chance at a possesion. I don't think you'd ever see 10 min, imo

But with a 5 minute period, the team that gets the ball can easily bleed 5 minutes away and guarantee a 1 possesion ot every time.

With the "new" each team from the 50. How would that work. Score for score. Because wouldn't that totally eliminate ties??

I see your point but the defense woukd have to make some plays in order to get the ball back, at least a score doesn't end the game (if there is time on the clock). If the defense does their job, they will get a possesion.

Yes, just like College. No ties.

I mostly like the way they run it however I would prefer that teams be required to score a TD or Safety in order to ice the game. If they opt for a field goal the other team should get a possession IMO to answer whether they have touched the ball already or not. If their drive results in a tie then the game would keep going as normal. Standard 4th quarter timing rules would apply. Ties wuld ensue if time runs out as a tie after 1 period. I dont think you need to resolve every game. I just cant stand that almost every OT game is basically resolved by the luck of a coin.

Other than this I say leave it the way it is. Also...You are never going to please everyone. I believe that the college version (even a 50 yard one) is bad and amatuerish.

I like that new one starting at the 50 yardline. It will give both teams' offenses and defenses a FAIR chance to state their case as far as scoring on O' or Stopping them on D'. Good Rule, hopefully it takes effect.

I like the 10 minute quarter most overtimes last that long anyway if you add a running clock.in my opinion put in a 10 min running clock with 2 time outs by each team and the better team will win.either way you get a chance to play good defense even if you get a guy get a 60 yard return on the kickoff.i could actually see a team getting a 50 yar return in overtime get stopped and kick a fg with under 1:30 to play and the other team coming down using its time outs correctly winning the ballgame.in my opinon this option favors the better coach.who can outcoach who in the overtime period

Here is how I'd like to see it done. Both teams must get the ball once.
                            1. Say S.D kicks off to K.C in OT. KC turns over the ball on the kickoff and S.D scores a TD or FG, game over.

                            2. S.D kicks to K.C. K.C scores a FG. K.C kicks to S.D. S.D scores a TD, game over.

                            3. S.D kicks to K.C. K.C scores a TD, or a FG. K.C kicks to S.D and S.D matches the TD, or the FG. The next team that scores wins. 15 min clock in reg season, and no time limit in playoffs. Someone made a good point the other day about this (at least I thought it was LOL). The away team always gets the the ball first in OT.

I would like to see the NFL & NCAA adopt this plan:

Whoever has the ball (no matter where they are at) at the end of the 4th quarter retains the ball at that spot in overtime. Add the 15 minutes to the clock and whoever scores 1st, wins the game.

The 1 rule change I would make for something like this to happen is that the team with the ball close to the end of the 4th quarter and the game tied MUST run plays. No kneeling down to kill the clock and wait for OT to come.

If team A has the ball at the end of the 4th quarter, why have a coin flip and reward team B who didnt have the ball
