LOS ANGELES – J.D. Martinez has run with a little hitch in his gait since rolling his right ankle in Game 1 of the World Series. But the Red Sox are hopeful he will be ready to play the outfield in Game 3 without a designated hitter available in the National League park.

“We’ll see,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. “Actually he felt better [Thursday] walking around, he got treatment on the way here. He’s going to get treatment [Friday]. He’ll get treatment [Friday] morning. In the afternoon we’ll make a decision.

“It looked bad early [on Wednesday] but then it seemed like it was moving better towards the end.”
