CHICAGO (AP) Mark Reynolds and Charlie Blackmon homered, rookie Jeff Hoffman pitched neatly into the seventh inning and the Colorado Rockies won their seventh straight game, beating the Chicago Cubs 9-1 Saturday.

The Cubs lost their fourth in a row, dropping the World Series champions to 30-31.

Reynolds had four hits, including his 17th homer, and Nolan Arenado had a three-run double during a five-run ninth inning. The Rockies, who have the best record in the NL, improved to 24-10 on the road.

One of four rookies in the Rockies' rotation, the 24-year-old Hoffman (4-0) allowed one run and struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings. Four Colorado relievers kept Chicago scoreless the rest of the way.

Cubs starter Eddie Butler (3-2) pitched five innings and gave up three runs on six hits in his first outing against his former team.

YANKEES 16, ORIOLES 3

NEW YORK (AP) - Rookie Aaron Judge hit his major league-leading 19th home run and New York connected five times in all, battering Chris Tillman and Baltimore for its fourth straight win.

Starlin Castro, Gary Sanchez, Didi Gregorius and Matt Holliday also homered in New York's biggest offensive show this season. The first-place Yankees have outscored Boston and Baltimore, their closest competitors in the AL East, by 41-6 during their winning streak.

Luis Severino (5-2) pitched seven sharp innings, giving up one run and two hits. He struck out eight walked two.

Tillman (1-4) was tagged for nine runs in only 1 1/3 innings. He got two quick outs to begin the first before Judge's homer began a six-run burst.

METS 6, BRAVES 1, GAME 1

ATLANTA (AP) - Steven Matz pitched seven impressive innings in his season debut, Jay Bruce hit a three-run homer and New York beat Atlanta to sweep a doubleheader.

Yoenis Cespedes made a smashing return in the first game, hitting a grand slam to celebrate his return to the lineup following a six-week stint on the disabled list.

Matz (1-0), appearing in a big league game for first time since last Aug. 14, gave up five hits, one run and one walk. The left-hander struck out two, holding the Braves scoreless until the seventh.

Matt Wilser (0-1) gave up six hits, four runs and three walks in six innings in the second game. He struck out seven in making his first start of the season.

Robert Gsellman (5-3) won his third straight start. He gave up three hits, two walks and struck out four in 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

Sean Newcomb (0-1) lost in his major league debut despite allowing just one unearned run and four hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

RED SOX 11, TIGERS 3

BOSTON (AP) - Boston's Chris Sale outlasted Detroit's Justin Verlander to win his seventh straight decision in a matchup of big-name pitchers.

Mitch Moreland's tiebreaking, two-run double sparked a three-run seventh inning and Boston added five more in the eighth for its second straight late-inning win over the Tigers. The Red Sox have won 13 of 19.

Sale (8-2) pitched seven solid innings, giving up three runs on nine hits, striking out seven without issuing a walk.

Verlander was gone with high pitch count after five, allowing three runs and four walks with three strikeouts after leaving his previous start following two innings with a tight right groin. Detroit has lost four of five.

With runners on first and second, Moreland doubled off the Green Monster against Warwick Saupold (1-1). Josh Rutledge added an RBI single.

DODGERS 5, REDS 4

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Corey Seager delivered a run-scoring double in the bottom of the ninth to allow Los Angeles to overcome a three-run homer from Devin Mesoraco and earn a victory over Cincinnati.

It was Seager's second double and it made a loser of reliever Drew Storen (1-2), who allowed two one-out singles in the ninth.

Kenley Jansen (4-0) pitched a scoreless ninth for the victory.

The Dodgers built a 4-1 lead but saw it come undone when manager Dave Roberts replaced starter Alex Wood with two on and two outs in the sixth with reliever Josh Fields.

RANGERS 6, NATIONALS 3, 11 INNINGS

WASHINGTON (AP) - Robinson Chirinos nearly put Texas ahead during a ninth-inning rally that tied it, then hit a three-run homer in the 11th.

Texas scored twice in the ninth to make it 3-all. Chirinos' bid for a tiebreaking sacrifice fly was thwarted by Washington right fielder Bryce Harper, who made a strong throw to nail a runner at the plate.

Washington almost won it in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Trea Turner bunted with a man at third, but pinch-runner Wilmer Difo hesitated going home and was quickly tagged out.

Pinch-hitter Joey Gallo doubled with two outs in the Texas 11th off Shawn Kelley (3-2). Following an intentional walk to Nomar Mazara, Chirinos drove a fastball just over the left-field wall.

Keone Kela (3-1) went two innings as the below-.500 Rangers beat the NL East leaders for the second straight day.

ASTROS 3, ANGELS 1

HOUSTON (AP) - Mike Fiers had another solid start and Brian McCann homered to lead Houston over Los Angeles.

Fiers (4-2) allowed a season-low two hits and one run, which was unearned, in a season-high 7 1/3 innings, to get his third straight win after managing just one win in his first nine starts.

Ken Giles walked one and struck out three in a scoreless ninth for his 16th save.

McCann put Houston up 1-0 with his solo shot to right field off Ricky Nolasco (2-7) with one out in the second. That hit gave the Astros at least one homer in 18 straight games, which ties a franchise record set in 2000.

RAYS 6, ATHLETICS 5, 10 INNINGS, GAME 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Sean Manaea won his fifth consecutive start to help Oakland split a rare scheduled doubleheader with Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay won the opener on Evan Longoria's RBI single in the 10th inning that completed a 3-hour, 56-minute game.

The split came in the majors' first scheduled doubleheader since 2011.

Manaea (6-3) allowed two runs and six hits over seven innings. He was supported by home runs from Josh Phegley, Ryon Healy and Chad Pinder.

Austin Pruitt (5-1) won in relief and Liam Hendriks (2-1) took the loss in the opener.

Rays Game 2 starter Matt Andriese lasted one inning before departing with a groin strain, the same injury that put him on the 10-day disabled list May 31.

Chih-Wei Hu (0-1) replaced Andriese and gave up one run - Phegley's shot in the second - over four innings.

WHITE SOX 5, INDIANS 3

CLEVELAND (AP) - David Holmberg allowed two runs in five innings for his first win in two years, Jose Abreu had an RBI single in a three-run first and Chicago defeated Cleveland.

Holmberg (1-0) recorded his first victory since July 30, 2015 when he pitched for Cincinnati against Pittsburgh. The left-hander was making his third start and 11th appearance of the season.

Josh Tomlin (3-8) allowed four runs - three earned - and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings as the Indians lost for the fifth time in seven games.

BLUE JAYS 4, MARINERS 2

SEATTLE (AP) - Ezequiel Carrera led off the eighth inning with his fifth homer of the season to break a 2-all tie, Kendrys Morales and Justin Smoak each added long balls and Toronto beat Seattle.

Morales' two-run shot in the fourth inning, his 12th of the season, stood as Toronto's only hit until the seventh. After Seattle pulled even at 2-all, Carrera drove a sinker from Tony Zych (2-2) that stayed in the middle of the plate deep to right field, generating a huge roar from the thousands of Toronto fans in town for the weekend series.

Toronto starter Marcus Stroman (7-2) was outstanding, winning his sixth straight decision. Stroman allowed one earned run in seven innings, and it took the help of two errors on one play for Seattle to score its second run and pull even. Roberto Osuna pitched the ninth for his 15th save.

CARDINALS 7, PHILLIES 0

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Carlos Martinez struck out 11 in a complete-game shutout and St. Louis beat Philadelphia.

Martinez (5-5) allowed four hits and walked one in his first complete game and first shutout of his career. Martinez's 101st pitch of the game was a 100 mph fastball that struck out Howie Kendrick for the second out in the ninth.

Nick Pivetta (1-3), making his sixth career start, allowed four runs and four hits in five innings, with four walks and two strikeouts.

DIAMONDBACKS 3, BREWERS 2

PHOENIX (AP) - Zack Godley allowed two hits over 6 2/3 innings, Brandon Drury hit the go-ahead two-run home run and Arizona beat Milwaukee.

Rey Fuentes tripled and scored for the Diamondbacks, who had their nine-game home winning streak snapped in a loss to the Brewers on Friday.

Godley (2-1) allowed two runs, struck out four, walked one and hit a batter. Fernando Rodney earned his 16th save in 19 tries.

Junior Guerra (1-1) permitted three runs and five hits in six innings in a strong outing for Milwaukee.

PIRATES 7, MARLINS 6

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Jordy Mercer hit a tying two-run triple in the eighth and John Jaso followed with a go-ahead double, lifting Pittsburgh over Miami.

Mercer's drive to center off reliever David Phelps (2-3) scored Andrew McCutchen and Elias Diaz, then Mercer scored on Jaso's ground-rule double to right.

Marlins star Giancarlo Stanton was hit by a pitch on the wrist in the first inning and left the game. The team said X-rays were negative and that Stanton is day-to-day with a bruised wrist.

Daniel Hudson (1-2) pitched a scoreless seventh for the win. Felipe Rivero got four outs for his first save.

TWINS 3, GIANTS 2

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Brian Dozier and Kennys Vargas hit home runs, leading Jose Berrios and Minnesota over San Francisco.

Berrios (5-1) struck out eight over 5 1/3 innings to win his second straight start, both on this road trip.

The right-hander escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third. After Denard Span's double and walks to Brandon Belt and Buster Posey, Berrios struck out Brandon Crawford and Hunter Pence. Brandon Kintzler, the Twins' third reliever, finished with a 1-2-3 ninth for his 17th save in 18 chances.

Jeff Samardzija (2-8) struck out six and walked one over six innings.

ROYALS 12, PADRES 6

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Lorenzo Cain hit two homers, including a grand slam that capped a nine-run rally in the eighth inning that sent Kansas City over San Diego.

The Royals trailed 5-3 when Cain led off the eighth with an infield single. Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez followed with home runs off Brad Hand (1-4) to put Kansas City ahead.

Reliever Travis Wood (1-2) won in relief.

Sunday’s List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday…….

13) RIP Adam West, 89, TV’s Batman from the late 60’s, one of my favorite TV shows when I was a little kid, maybe my first favorite TV show. Late in his life, West did voiceovers for animated TV shows; Showtime did a special couple years ago on his family’s (successful) efforts to get their dad a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Lot of famous actors were guest villains on Batman; the show was great fun. RIP, sir.

12) I’m in a 16-team dynasty fantasy baseball league, which means you keep your players from year-to-year. Our league is 12 years old; I’ve had Giancarlo Stanton on my team since he was an 18-year old in the Class A Florida State League.

So I turn the Marlins’ game on Saturday and Ichiro Suzuki is already on first base, Yelich is batting— I figure they gave Stanton the day off, but no, he got drilled on the wrist and has already left the game. This is not good.

Jose Abreu got drilled on the knee Friday night and left the game— he’s on my squad too. No bueno when your two best hitters are both hurt, though Abreu did come back and played Saturday night.

11) Which reminds me of a story: I’m coaching a Little League All-Star tournament in Spring Valley, NY, about two hours south of where I live. This is 1995; my team needs to beat the same team twice in one night to win the title- they only had to beat us once to win.

So the first inning of the first game, one of our batters gets hit; then my pitcher gets hit in the head while batting in the same inning. Kid is lying on the ground; as we’re trying to make sure he is OK, have to tell the 2nd game pitcher to warm up to pitch this game.

Out of the blue, one of our fans (we’re in the third base dugout) yells out: “Stop throwing at our players!!!” Now this is a game in a foreign environment; the nightcap, if there is one, will be an actual night game under the lights— I don’t need this. Umpires did a good job of keeping most everyone calm.

Story has a happy ending; we win the first game, the kid who got hit in the head showed lot of guts by pitching (and winning) the second game. We advanced to Maryland for the next round of the tournament, a great example of the players carrying their coach!!!

10) Clark Griffith and Rockies’ manager Bud Black are only two men in baseball history who won 100+ games as a pitcher, and then 600+ games as a manager. Griffith wound up owning the Washington Senators; he was 237-146 in a career than spanned from 1891-1914.

9) Cardinals shook up their coaching staff Friday and also DFA’d SS Jhonny Peralta. Apparently the assistant hitting coach was put on a leave of absence; hard to believe their slump is that guy’s fault.

8) South Florida’s leading scorer Geno Thorpe (15.1 pts/game) will play at Syracuse next season as a graduate transfer. Hope he has some warm clothes.

7) Rays’ OF Kevin Keirmaier broke his hip on an awkward slide at 1B this week, is on the DL.

6) Detroit Lions’ LT Taylor Decker tore his labrum, could be out 4-6 months.

5) Houston Astros have some hard decisions to make; if Dallas Keuchel’s neck injury is serious, then they have to trade for one, probably two starting pitchers. Even if Keuchel comes back, the Houston pitching is shallow- they have a ton of good position players.

4) Milwaukee Brewers lost their last six extra-inning games.

3) Quote of the Day, part 2, from ESPN.com and Washington Nationals’ GM Mike Rizzo, which refer to the rescheduling of a rained out Nationals-Orioles game to this past Thursday:

“It rained all day that day (May 11), and the forecast said it would rain until 9:30 or 10. I sat in Buck’s (Showalter) office at 6:30, and we talked about it for 20 minutes. He was 100 percent on-board. He didn’t say anything about not canceling the game.

LEADING OFF: Scherzer showing Cy Young form once again

A look at what's happening around the majors today:

MAD MAX

Don't look now, but Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer has been even better this season than when he won the National League Cy Young award a year ago - particularly over his last three starts. Scherzer (7-3) is second only to Clayton Kershaw in the NL in ERA (2.35) and leads the league in strikeouts (114). He'll take the mound as Washington tries to salvage a game in its series with the Texas Rangers. Over his last three starts, Scherzer has allowed only two earned runs and struck out 38 in 24 2/3 innings.

ROCKING ROCKIES

Colorado won its seventh straight game on Saturday, its third in a row over the defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs. The winning streak is the Rockies' longest since 2011, and they'll try to send the Cubs two games under .500 when the teams finish their four-game series at Wrigley Field. Rookie Antonio Senzatela (8-2, 3.56 ERA) will start for Colorado, trying to become the NL's first nine-game winner.

DEALING DREW

After seeing his ERA climb as high as 5.29 following a loss to Tampa Bay on May 14, Boston's Drew Pomeranz has allowed only five earned runs in his last 22 innings - lowering his season ERA to 4.02 in the process. The left-hander will make his next start when the Red Sox host Detroit in the Sunday night game.

STREAKING CASTELLANOS

Tigers third baseman Nicholas Castellanos has a nine-game hitting streak going into the matchup with the Red Sox at Fenway Park. The right-handed hitter had an RBI double in the fifth inning of Saturday night's game to extend his streak, and he entered the game hitting .385 in June - raising his average by more than 30 points since ending May at .209.

WOUNDED WAINWRIGHT

St. Louis Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright had his worst start of the season his last time out on Tuesday, allowing nine runs in 3 2/3 innings in a 13-1 loss to Cincinnati. The right-hander's season ERA rose from 3.79 to 4.82 in the loss, and he'll return to the mound as St. Louis tries to complete a three-game sweep against the reeling Philadelphia Phillies - who have lost nine of their last 13 games.

MLB notebook: Astros LHP Keuchel shut down for week
June 10, 2017

Houston Astros star left-hander Dallas Keuchel will be shut down from throwing for at least one week due to persistent neck discomfort.

Keuchel, who owns a spotless 9-0 record to lead the majors in wins and ERA (1.67), was placed on the 10-day disabled list Thursday.

The 2015 American League Cy Young Award winner is expected to miss at least two starts to allow the nerve inflammation in his neck to subside. Keuchel told MLB.com that throwing aggravates the injury.

"Going to take a week off and see what that does and revisit it after a week," Keuchel said.

Keuchel was scratched moments before Wednesday's scheduled start against the Kansas City Royals. Astros manager A.J. Hinch said after the contest that Keuchel was scratched due to illness.

Instead, Keuchel traveled to Houston on Thursday to have his neck examined. The left-hander missed a start in May due to a pinched nerve in his neck.

--All-Star shortstop Addison Russell was back in the Chicago Cubs' starting lineup after he denied an accusation of domestic violence against his wife.

Russell batted eighth in the lineup against the Colorado Rockies at Wrigley Field. He did not play in Friday's 5-3 loss to Colorado.

"You've just got to throw him back out there and have him try to work through the whole thing," Cubs manager Joe Maddon told reporters before the game.

Russell was accused of "mental and physical" abuse against his wife, Melisa, by someone claiming to be a family friend in an Instagram posting on a now-removed account.

--New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes was activated from the disabled list for the doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves.

The 31-year-old Cespedes was in the starting lineup in left field, hitting third in the first game. He hit a grand slam in his return as the Mets beat the Braves 6-1 in the first game at SunTrust Park.

The slugger was batting .270 with six home runs and 10 RBIs before spraining his left hamstring, which sidelined him on April 28.

After the hamstring injury, Cespedes took a break of nearly two weeks after he had tightness in his right quadriceps.

--Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton sustained an apparent injury in the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

Pirates right-hander Trevor Williams hit Stanton on his right wrist on the fifth pitch of his at-bat. Stanton labored toward first base before he was checked on and eventually replaced by outfielder Ichiro Suzuki.

Stanton sustained a right wrist contusion, according to the team. X-rays were negative and he is listed as day-to-day.

Stanton has hit .288 with 16 home runs and 42 RBIs this season.

--Barely a month after undergoing surgery for testicular cancer, right-hander Jameson Taillon will start for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Colorado Rockies on Monday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

The 25-year-old right-hander has not pitched since May 3. He went on the disabled list because of groin discomfort, but five days later he underwent surgery for suspected, and later confirmed, testicular cancer.

Taillon resumed baseball activities a few days later and had three productive rehab starts in the minors. He has a 2-1 record and 3.31 ERA in six starts this season.

--The Oakland Athletics reinstated left-hander Sean Doolittle from the 10-day disabled list.

In addition, the A's recalled first baseman/outfielder Matt Olson from Triple-A Nashville and placed right-hander Andrew Triggs on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hip.

Doolittle had a 3.52 ERA and .185 opponents batting average in nine relief appearances when he was placed on the disabled list May 3 (retroactive to April 30) with a strained left shoulder.

Triggs is 5-6 with a 4.27 ERA in 12 starts with the A's this season. He was 0-4 with a 9.64 ERA, .381 opponents batting average and seven home runs in 18 2/3 innings over his last four starts after going 5-2 with a 2.12 ERA, .209 opponents average and two homers in 46 2/3 innings over his first eight starts.

Coldest team Phillies (0-4 past four games, 10-30 past 40 overall)

The Phillies have followed up a four-game winning streak with a dismal four-game slide, averaging just 1.0 run per game while allowing 6.8 runs per outing. The previously ice-cold Cardinals have found the elixir to cure their ills, and that has been a trip to Philadelphia. Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez have pitched well for the Cards, and now the Phils will have to deal with Adam Wainwright in the finale. The Phils are 1-7 in their past eight tries in Game 3 of a series, while going just 14-37 over their past 51 home games. Aaron Nola has been no solution, either, going 3-7 over his past 10 road outings and 4-11 in his past 15 overall.

Hottest pitcher: Max Scherzer, Nationals (7-3, 2.35 ERA)

Scherzer has been impressive this season, checking in fifth in the majors in ERA while holding the opposition to a .180 batting average with a 0.88 WHIP. He has also struck out 114 batters, including 14 punchouts in his most recent outing at L.A. Dodgers on June 6. He has recorded 11 or more strikeouts in each of his past three starts while posting a 3-0 record and 0.73 ERA over the span. He faces an ultra-favorable matchup against the inexperienced Austin Bibens-Dirkx. The Rangers have actually won 10 of their past 11 against National League East foes, but they're just 5-11 over their past 16 tries vs. RHP.

Coldest pitcher: Jesse Chavez, Angels (5-6, 4.56 ERA)

Chavez has gotten himself into trouble with the long ball, serving up 15 homers over 71 innings while allowing 36 earned runs and 71 hits. A hit per inning is not a key to success. The Angels have posted a 4-1 mark in Chavez's past five outings, although they're 0-5 in his past five assignments against divisional foes. The Halos are also just 3-7 in their past 10 tries against divisional foes. The Angels haven't had a lot of success in recent seasons against the Astros, posting an 8-20 mark in their past 28 trips to Minute Maid and 2-5 in the past seven meetings overall.

Biggest UNDER run: Cubs (12-4 past 16 games overall)

The Cubs have had a power outage on offense, managing a total of five runs over their pst three outings. Naturally, the 'under has followed in each of those outings. It has been a difficult follow-up to Chicago's storybook World Series season last year, with pitching and hitting struggles for most of the season to date. The more consistent factor to bet on for Chicago has been the 'under'. The total has gone under in 12 of the past 16 games overall, while going 33-15-3 in their past 51 against NL West foes. Surprisingly, the 'over' is 8-3 over Jake Arrieta's past 11 assignments.

Biggest OVER run: Astros (7-3-3 past 13 games overall)

The 'over' has been on fire for Houston lately, going 7-3-3 in the past 13 games overall. More imporessively, the 'over' is a whopping 25-5-3 in the past 33 during the third game of a series. The over has also connected for a 5-2-3 record over their past 10 against right-handed starting pitching while going 16-3-2 over their past 21 performances on a Sunday. In this series, the 'under' is 6-1 in the past seven in Houston, and 9-3-1 in the past 13 meetings between these division rivals.

Matchup to watch: Red Sox vs. Tigers

The Red Sox look to cap off a three-game series sweep against the Tigers on Sunday Night Baseball. Boston got the best of Justin Verlander in Saturday's game, as the Red Sox hit him hard, as well as the Detroit bullpen, providing more than enough support for Chris Sale. Drew Pomeranz is on the bump on Sunday. He has posted a 2-3 record with a 4.24 ERA over seven career appearances against the Tigers. He'll be facing a Detroit team which has recorded just 13 wins in 33 tries on the road so far this season, however.

Betcha didn’t know: The Royals hit five home runs in a game on Saturday for the first time since accomplishing the feat back in 2003. Kansas City will look to keep the offense rolling against San Diego's top pitching prospect, Dinelson Lamet, who suffered his first setback last time out. He allowed nine runs - seven earned - over just three innings last time out on Tuesday. He'll be looking to cool off Salvador Perez, who reached 100 homers for his career on Saturday. The Royals backstop is also hitting .450 (9-for-20) during his hot five-game hitting streak. If the Royals wish to be success then Jake Junis will have to look more like a major league starter. He has issued 10 free passes over just 10 1/3 innings.

NEW YORK (AP) Rookie sensation Aaron Judge hit two more home runs, including a drive that cleared the distant bleachers at Yankee Stadium and sent New York romping past Baltimore 14-3 Sunday for its fifth straight win.

Even by his lofty feats, it was quite a power show by the 6-foot-7 Judge. He leads the majors with 21 homers and tops the AL with 47 RBIs and a .344 batting average.

In the sixth, Judge launched a mammoth shot to left-center field that was estimated at 495 feet, the longest homer in the majors this season, according to Statcast. The ball bounced off the bare hands of a fan standing behind a fence beyond the back row of the bleachers.

Judge lined a drive into the right-center seats in his next at-bat, and also doubled earlier.

Adam Warren (2-1) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the win.

Baltimore right-hander Kevin Gausman (3-5) was tagged for seven runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.

CUBS 7, ROCKIES 5

CHICAGO (AP) - Addison Russell had a go-ahead home run for his first big contribution since an absence in the wake of a Major League Baseball investigation into domestic abuse allegations, and the Cubs stopped the Rockies' seven-game winning streak.

Russell and Kyle Schwarber connected for back-to-back homers off Jordan Lyles (0-2) in the sixth inning. Miguel Montero and Ben Zobrist also went deep, helping the World Series champion Cubs even their record at 31-31.

Russell played for the second time since missing the first two games of the series. The MLB investigation began after claims of abuse against his wife were levied in a since-deleted social media post.

Carl Edwards Jr. (2-0) won in relief of starter Jake Arrieta. Wade Davis gave up a run in the ninth before getting his 13th save in 13 chances.

DODGERS 9, REDS 7

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Corey Seager capped Los Angeles' six-run eighth inning with his first career grand slam, helping the Dodgers finish off the sweep.

Rookie Cody Bellinger sparked Los Angeles' rally with one-out drive against Austin Brice. Rasiel Iglesias (2-1) replaced Brice with a runner on first and walked three straight batters to force in a run, trimming Cincinnati's lead to 7-5. Seager then hit a drive to center for his ninth homer.

Bellinger also homered in the second and Chase Utley connected in the fifth for the Dodgers, who have won four straight. Luis Avilan (1-1) got the win, and Kenley Jansen got three outs for his 200th career save.

Adam Duvall, Scott Schebler, Joey Votto and Devin Mesoraco homered for Cincinnati, which lost 5-4 on Saturday night on Seager's game-ending RBI double.

RANGERS 5, NATIONALS 1

WASHINGTON (AP) - Max Scherzer struck out 10 to move past 2,000 for his career, but was outpitched by Austin Bibens-Dirkx and the Rangers completed the sweep of the weekend series.

Scherzer (7-4) has 2,005 career strikeouts after fanning at least 10 batters seven times this season. He allowed three runs - two earned - and three hits in 7 1/3 innings.

Bibens-Dirkx (2-0) allowed a run and three hits in seven innings in his second career start.

Shin-Soo Choo slugged his ninth homer as Texas completed its first road sweep of the season.

CARDINALS 6, PHILLIES 5

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Dexter Fowler hit a three-run homer for St. Louis, and Adam Wainwright tossed five solid innings.

The Cardinals have won three in a row following a season-high seven-game losing streak.

Daniel Nava homered for the Phillies, who have dropped five in a row.

Philadelphia led 2-0 before Fowler connected against Aaron Nola (3-4) in the fifth inning. It was his ninth homer in his first season with St. Louis.

Wainwright (7-4) gave up two runs and six hits, bouncing back nicely from a rough start at Cincinnati on Tuesday. Seung Hwan Oh pitched a rocky ninth inning for his 15th save.

ANGELS 12, ASTROS 6

HOUSTON (AP) - Albert Pujols homered in the first inning and Eric Young Jr. had a career-high four RBIs, helping the Angels rally for the win.

Young capped Los Angeles' six-run fifth inning with a tiebreaking three-run shot off Michael Feliz (2-1). He also had an RBI single in the seventh.

Rookie Keynan Middleton (1-0) pitched a scoreless fifth for his first career win.

George Springer and Yuli Gurriel homered for Houston, and Josh Reddick had three hits.

METS 2, BRAVES 1

ATLANTA (AP) - Seth Lugo pitched seven crisp innings in his season debut, leading the Mets to the road win.

Lugo (1-0) came back from right elbow inflammation that had sidelined him all season, helping Mets starters post a 0.83 ERA over the last five games. He gave up one run and six hits.

Lugo also doubled off Jaime Garcia (2-5) and scored in the third for a 2-1 lead.

The Mets have won four of five heading into a 14-game stretch against four teams that made the postseason last year.

Addison Reed got his 11th save in 13 chances.

Dansby Swanson had a sacrifice fly for Atlanta. The Braves have lost 16 of their last 21 home games against the Mets.

BLUE JAYS 4, MARINERS 0

SEATTLE (AP) - Josh Donaldson hit a two-run homer for Toronto, and J.A. Happ struck out eight in six innings.

Donaldson and the Blue Jays knocked out James Paxton (5-1) after just four innings, handing him his first loss of the season and sending the thousands of Toronto fans from western Canada back north of the border after their team won two of three this weekend.

Donaldson finished with three hits, including an RBI single in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. Happ (1-4) allowed six hits in his first win since Sept. 20.

GIANTS 13, TWINS 8

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Buster Posey had three hits and four RBIs, Hunter Pence added three doubles and scored three times, and the Giants avoided a three-game sweep.

Eduardo Nunez also had three hits and scored three times while rookie Austin Slater had three hits and a career-high four RBIs to help the Giants win for the fourth time in 12 games.

Josh Osich (1-1) retired three batters for the win.

Eduardo Escobar and Byron Buxton homered for Minnesota. Matt Belisle (0-1) got two outs and was charged with four runs and four hits.

INDIANS 4, WHITE SOX 2

CLEVELAND (AP) - Carlos Carrasco took a shutout into the sixth and three relievers combined for 3 2/3 scoreless innings, leading Cleveland to the victory.

Carrasco (6-3) was pulled after Todd Frazier's two-run double cut Cleveland's lead to one. The right-hander allowed seven hits, struck out four and walked one in 5 1/3 innings.

Andrew Miller retired all five batters he faced, striking out three. Bryan Shaw pitched a scoreless eighth and Cody Allen finished for his 15th save, working around a one-out single.

The White Sox have dropped nine of 11. Jose Quintana (2-8) allowed three runs in five innings, dropping to 0-4 in his last seven starts.

PIRATES 3, MARLINS 1

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Ivan Nova pitched six shutout innings, Elias Diaz drove in two runs and the Pirates beat Jeff Locke and the Marlins.

Nova (6-4) allowed one hit, struck out four and walked none.

Locke (0-2) was charged with three runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings in his first start in Pittsburgh since he signed with Miami in free agency. The left-hander spent the first six years of his career with the Pirates.

Ichiro Suzuki hit his second homer for Miami in the eighth. The 43-year-old Suzuki last hit more than one homer in a season in 2013.

Felipe Rivero got his second four-out save in as many days.

DIAMONDBACKS 11, BREWERS 1

PHOENIX (AP) - Robbie Ray struck out 12 in 6 2/3 shutout innings, Paul Goldschmidt hit a grand slam and the Diamondbacks pulled away for the win.

Ray (7-3) gave up three hits in what started as a pitchers' duel with former Diamondback Chase Anderson (5-2). Anderson allowed one run and four hits in six innings, and his scoreless streak stopped at 22 when Jake Lamb drove in David Peralta with a groundout in the bottom of the first.

Goldschmidt's slam came in a five-run eighth. He connected off Rob Scahill for his 14th homer of the season.

Keon Broxton homered in the ninth for Milwaukee.

RAYS 5, ATHLETICS 4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Mallex Smith had three hits and used his speed to set up the go-ahead run, helping the Rays take three of four from the Athletics.

Smith led off the seventh with a bunt single and went to third after reliever Daniel Coulombe (0-1) was charged with an error for an errant throw to first that ended up in the right-field corner. Tampa Bay went ahead 5-4 when Corey Dickerson hit a sacrifice fly on the next pitch.

Smith, recalled from Triple-A Durham on Friday to fill in for injured Gold Glove center fielder Kevin Kiermaier, also walked and went 8 for 14 in the series.

Chase Whitley (2-1) got the win and Alex Colome worked a shaky ninth for his 18th save.

Stephen Vogt had three RBIs for Oakland, which has lost eight consecutive road series.

ROYALS 8, PADRES 3

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Mike Moustakas homered twice for Kansas City, and Jake Junis pitched seven-plus solid innings.

Alex Gordon and Eric Hosmer also connected for the Royals, who hit five on Saturday against the Padres.

Moustakas hit a three-run home run in the first against rookie Dinelson Lamet (2-2) that gave the Royals an early 4-0 advantage, and a solo homer in the eighth.
