    Armadillo: Tuesday's six-pack

-- New Dallas QB Brandon Weeden will be 32 next month; he is 5-16 as a starter in the NFL, with 15 of those 21 starts coming for the 2012 Browns.
-- Jay Cutler (hamstring) is out the next couple weeks; Jimmy Clausen takes over.
-- Pirates are 29-38 vs NFC Central teams, 61-22 against everyone else.
-- Last 2+ years, Colts are 12-0 in divisional games, 10-12 outside the division.
-- Just last week, fantasy football sites Draft Kings/Fan Duel spent a combined $30M on advertising.
-- Charles Barkley gave a touching eulogy of Moses Malone last week.
    **********

Armadillo: Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but........

    13) Jets 20, Colts 7-- Jets are 2-0, Indy 0-2, scoring only 21 points in its first two games, eight less than anyone else in the NFL.

    12) Only three of 49 Super Bowl champs started that season 0-2.

    11) NFL football is hideously over-officiated; 13 of 32 teams this week had 10+ accepted penalties. Too many rules, too many flags, too many stoppages in games.

By way of contrast, the Auburn-LSU game had a combined total of nine penalties, Clemson-Louisville had eight, Stanford-USC 13. College games have a better flow.

    10) Ryan Fitzpatrick is the first NFL QB ever to play against the same team (Colts) four years in a row, while playing for four different teams. Mike Martz was the first NFL coach to give Fitzpatrick a chance and that was in 2005. Not many QBs in the NFL go to college without a football scholarship; Fitzpatrick went to Harvard.

    9) Speaking of Harvard, the Milwaukee Brewers hired another 30-year old genius to be their GM. I don't remember ever seeing Harvard in the College World Series, but they must have an awesome baseball program, since major league teams are so eager to hire their alums to run their operations.

No way 30-year olds are experienced enough for this big job, but hey, they have those complicated formulas that explain everything; just ask San Diego Padre fans.

    8) Watched a movie called Game Change Monday afternoon, because people with no job watch a lot of movies. This was the movie about Sarah Palin running for VP with John McCain in 2012-- it is alternating hilarious and frightening.

How could someone as oblivious as Palin come so close to being Vice-President?

    7) Chase Utley played in his 1,575th big league game last night, starting at third base for the first time ever. For a playoff team, the Dodgers have a lot of questions they'll need to answer before their first postseason game.

    6) NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin won the race in Chicago this week, which wouldn't be such a big deal, except he is driving with a torn right ACL. I cannot even imagine tearing my ACL, then getting in my car and driving 500 miles, much less at the high stress level at which those guys compete.

    5) Run differential is a stupid stat that gets overused; Texas has a -7 differential, the A's are -11, virtually the same. But the Rangers are 16.5 games ahead of Oakland, due to their 43-32 record in games decided by 1-2 runs. A's are 27-49 in those games.

    4) ESPN's Lee Corso turned 80 last month; he is still a pleasure to listen to on TV.

    3) Astros 6, Angels 3-- Huge win for Houston, which now has a 3-game lead for the second Wild Card spot.

    2) Thru two weeks, NFL home underdogs are 7-5 vs spread
-- NFL home favorites of 6+ points are 2-5-1 vs spread.
-- NFL home favorites of less than 6 points are 14-9 vs spread.

    1) Further proof the world is going crazy: a guy named Joe Juranitch has dressed up as the Viking at Minnesota home games for the last 21 years; he led the team out on the field while driving a motorcycle, wearing a horned helmet and fur clothes.

Mr Juranitch is no longer employed by the Vikings, because he wanted the team to give him a 10-year contract paying him $20,000 a game. To be a bleeping mascot.

This guy was making $1,500 a game (10 home games a year) but wasn't happy. Oy.

NFL Opening Line Report: Oddsmakers debate Romo's worth to Dallas' odds

Tony Romo's injury has books debating what the line should be for the Cowboys' Week 3 matchup with the Falcons this coming Sunday.

After a solid 2014 season that culminated in a playoff appearance, the Dallas Cowboys had to make a tough decision: pay Dez Bryant or pay DeMarco Murray. They paid Bryant, and Murray left for greener pastures in Philadelphia.

Then Dez Bryant went down with a broken foot in Week 1 against the New York Giants. The Cowboys hope he’ll only miss four to six weeks. And on Sunday in Week 2 at Philadelphia, quarterback Tony Romo suffered a broken left clavicle – the same injury he suffered in 2010 – and is expected to miss eight to 10 weeks.

About the only good news for the Cowboys? Well, they’re 2-0 SU (1-1 ATS), with both wins over NFC East rivals. Dallas topped Philadelphia 20-10 as a 7-point road underdog, a week after edging the Giants 27-26 as a 7-point home favorite.

Now, the Cowboys return home to face Atlanta (2-0 SU and ATS), which is also off to a solid start after its paltry 6-8 SU and 7-9 ATS campaign in 2014. On Sunday, the Falcons put up two fourth-quarter touchdowns – the second with just over a minute left – to nab a 24-20 victory as 2-point road underdog against the Giants.

John Lester, senior lines manager for Bookmaker.eu, said the opening line on this game would have to wait a bit.

“We’re going to have to take some time here, considering everything that’s happened to Dallas personnel-wise,” Lester said. “Had Romo still been available, we would have opened around -6 for the Cowboys. The Falcons are improved from a year ago, but I don’t think they’re as good as they’ve looked thus far.”

Johnny Avello, executive director of race and sports for Wynn Las Vegas, also had to sit tight on the opening number.

“It’s a great start to the season for the Falcons, beating two NFC East foes. Strangely enough, those two opponents (Eagles and Giants) are 0-4 between them, as they both also lost to the Cowboys,” Avello said. “With the loss of Tony Romo, the Cowboys would be happy with a 50/50 record from this point on until he returns.”

At offshore market, Sportsbook.ag, they opened Atlanta as a 1.5-point favorite and took immediate action on the Falcons to the point where they pulled the game from the board and consulted some industry experts on the potential pointspread. Those experts came back with a spread of pick'em, however, Sportsbook.ag linesmaker Peter Childs wasn't convinced the game should be that tight.

He reopened at Falcons -2.5 and again took one-sided action on Atlanta, forcing a move to three. Once at a field goal, Dallas bets started rolling in as well as sharp action on the Cowboys which dropped the line back down to Atlanta -2.5, which is were the book sits as of Monday morning. Childs says his biggest concern is how the Dallas offense struggled with backup QB Brandon Weeden under center, with Romo out with a back injury, against the Arizona Cardinals last season.

"The Cowboys were competitive early, but eventually the Cardinals shutdown Weeden and the Cowboys offense and got the easy win and cover," Childs recalled. "We lost a fortune on that game, so we knew that our customers were going to fade Weeden in this spot and all early indications are exactly that - fade Weeden. And last year for the Cowboys, they had Dez and Murray, who won’t be on the field come Sunday versus the Falcons. Interesting game, I do believe the Cowboys will be competitive but I also believe the Falcons should be a slight favorite."

Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers

Kansas City was in the primetime spotlight in Week 2, when the Chiefs were dealt a stunning 31-24 home loss after Denver scored two touchdowns in the final 40 seconds – the second on a shocking fumble return. So instead of hashing things out in overtime, K.C. stumbled as a 3-point favorite Thursday night.

With the exception of the extra three days’ rest, the Week 3 schedule doesn’t do the Chiefs (1-1 SU and ATS) any favors, as they are once again in primetime, but this time at Green Bay on Monday night.

The Packers (2-0 SU and ATS) are coming off a rematch of the NFC Championship Game, avenging their loss last January by beating Seattle 27-17 as a 3.5-point home favorite. With that being the Sunday night game, and some injuries on the Packers, the opening line isn’t set just yet.

“Going into Sunday night, we would have made the Packers between six and 7-point favorites for this one,” Lester said. “It’s a long layoff for the Chiefs, which I don’t think is a good thing considering how deflating their Week 2 loss was. They’ve got to be eager to get back on the field, but they’re in a holding pattern.”

Said Avello, “Another primetime spot for the Packers, but they are quite used to it now, and the Chiefs also get their second in a row after playing last Thursday. I believe playing these games in front of a large TV audience helps motivate a team to play its best. The Chiefs let one get away against Denver, but they're good enough to bounce back and play head-to-head with the Pack.”

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens (-2.5)

Baltimore (0-2 SU and ATS) finally gets a home game after two long weeks on the road. The Ravens were dealt a tough loss at Denver in Week 1, falling 19-13 in a game they arguably should have won, then went to Oakland as a 6-point favorite and lost 37-33 on a last-minute Raiders touchdown.

Cincinnati (2-0 SU and ATS) has gotten out of the gate quickly with a pair of wins and covers. On Sunday, the Bengals fended off San Diego 24-19 as a 3.5-point home fave.

      Avello opened Baltimore at -3.

“The Ravens have lost three straight to the Bengals, and this is no time to extend it,” he said. “There are no must-wins this early in the season, but it sure would be a very difficult road back after falling behind the division leader by three games right from jump street.”

Lester’s opening number was a shade tighter at Ravens -2.5.

“We’ll have a lot of players eager to back the Bengals, but that’s what we’re counting on with this number,” Lester said. “I fully anticipate Baltimore putting forth a great effort in this matchup, as the Ravens obviously can’t afford to start the season 0-3. John Harbaugh will have his guys ready to play.”

San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals (-6.5)

Arizona (2-0 SU and ATS) is looking stout in the early going, entering this NFC West clash after thumping Chicago 48-23 as a 2-point road chalk Sunday.

On the flip side, San Fran is coming off a blowout loss. The Niners were dealt a 43-18 shellacking Sunday catching 6 points at Pittsburgh.

“It’s a tale of two teams from the opener to Week 2 regarding San Francisco,” Lester said. “The Niners aren’t as bad as they looked at Pittsburgh, but this is a very difficult spot for them. Arizona has been dominant at home over the last couple of years, so we felt comfortable putting up this number. I expect it to bounce around between 6 and 7 all week, and we’ll probably get solid split action.”

Avello went slightly tighter on the line, with the Cards at -6.

“The Niners have had the Cards’ number, winning five of the last six and eight of the last 10,” he said. “That's because the 49ers were good and the Cardinals weren't. Well, a change in the guard has certainly occurred.

“Arizona was never an easy place to get a win, but the Cardinals’ home-field advantage is stronger now than ever, and that 13-3 record over the past two-plus years demonstrates that.”

Cardinals C Molina out 5-7 days

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina will be shut down for at least five to seven days after it was revealed that he had a slight ligament tear in his left thumb, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said Monday.

Molina, who was named to the All-Star team for the seventh straight year this season, injured his thumb on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs in a play at the plate.

Mozeliak said he believes Molina will return this season, and the Cardinals hope he will be back for the playoffs. The Cardinals entered Monday's action leading the National League Central by four games, and if they win the division, they would play their first postseason game Oct. 9.

Molina's offensive numbers have been down a bit this season. He is hitting .270 with four homers in 136 games. Molina is also a seven-time Gold Glove winner.

While Molina is sidelined, the Cardinals will use Tony Cruz as their primary catcher. Cruz is hitting .173 this season.

Favorites were the side to bet on the diamond Monday

Teams that were supposed to win, did Monday night. At least for the most part in Major League Baseball action Monday night, going 7-2 straight up.

Favorites were able to cash at a rate of 77.78 percent last night. They are now cashing at a rate of 57.54 percent for the season.

Yankees face must-win games in Blue Jays series

The Yankees know the importance of their next two games.

After losing the opener of a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 on Monday, they know the final two games of the series at Rogers Centre are vital.

"You've got to keep it close," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said.

The Yankees dropped to 3 1/2 games behind the first-place Blue Jays and have 13 games to play.

"I think we're three back in the loss column now," Girardi said. "You're hoping that you could win (Monday) and get it down to one and we didn't. These are really important games.

"I think they're as important as any games we've played all year when you talk about trying to win the division."

The Yankees still are likely to win an AL wild-card spot but that would mean playing a one-game playoff with the other wild-card team to determine which teams would advance to the ALDS.

Braves once again fail to support hard-luck righty Miller

Shelby Miller didn't break out into "The Facts of Life" theme song when discussing his 23rd straight winless start Monday night. But it would be hard to blame him if he did.

The Atlanta Braves' hard-luck right-hander continued to make the wrong kind of history Monday, when he took the loss after allowing two runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out three over six innings as the Braves fell to the New York Mets, 4-0, at Citi Field.

In his last 23 starts, Miller is 0-15 despite a 3.65 ERA. The winless streak, as well as the streak of losing decisions, are both the longest for a Braves pitcher since the franchise moved to Atlanta in 1966.

Reds' Hamilton will have shoulder surgery

Billy Hamilton's season ended two weeks early Monday night when the Cincinnati Reds announced that he would undergo surgery Friday to repair a sprained capsule in his right shoulder.

The news came before the Reds' 2-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The center fielder excited fans last year as a rookie, finishing second in the National League with 56 steals and doing just enough with the bat -- .250, six homers and 48 RBIs, displaying surprising pop at times -- to inspire thoughts that he could be a Rickey Henderson-style game-shaper atop the order.

This year was a step backwards offensively for the lithe speedster. While Hamilton leads the majors with 57 steals in just 65 attempts, he hasn't reached first base enough to make his speed a true weapon, hitting a weak .226 and walking only 28 times in 412 at-bats. His on-base percentage is a woeful .274.

MLB roundup: Price, Jays dump Yankees

TORONTO -- David Price pitched seven scoreless innings to win his fourth consecutive start, and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees 4-2 Monday night.

By winning the opener of the three-game series, the Blue Jays increased their lead over the second-place Yankees in the American League East to 3 1/2 games.

Price (17-5) allowed two hits, walked one and struck out six to improve his record to 8-1 in his 10th start since joining Toronto in a trade with the Detroit Tigers on July 30.

Roberto Osuna pitched the ninth inning to earn his 17th save of the season despite allowing a two-out home run to Greg Bird, his ninth of the season.

              Mets 4, Braves 0

NEW YORK -- Jonathon Niese combined with three relievers on a five-hitter, and New York edged closer to the National League East title by beating Atlanta Braves.

The Mets increased their division lead over the Washington Nationals to 6 1/2 games and reduced their magic number to seven. The Nationals' game against the Baltimore Orioles was rained out.

Michael Conforto hit a solo homer in the second, and second baseman Daniel Murphy (2-for-4) delivered a two-run double in the seventh. Curtis Granderson scored two runs, and Yoenis Cespedes had three hits.

              Cardinals 2, Reds 1

ST. LOUIS -- Rookie Stephen Piscotty ripped a one-out RBI double off the left-center-field wall in the bottom of the eighth inning, capping a two-run rally that lifted St. Louis to a win over Cincinnati.

Piscotty's double scored pinch runner Peter Bourjos, who entered the game after Jhonny Peralta tied the score with a single that plated Tommy Pham. The uprising began with Pham's triple off J.J. Hoover (8-2).

Jonathan Broxton (3-5) pitched a scoreless eighth for the win, and Trevor Rosenthal bagged his 47th save to tie the team's single-season mark. Lee Smith established the record in 1991, and Jason Isringhausen tied it in 2004.

              White Sox 2-3, Tigers 0-2

DETROIT -- Erik Johnson tied his career high with nine strikeouts, and Gordon Beckham homered as Chicago completed a doubleheader sweep of Detroit.

Johnson (3-0) won for the third time in four starts since his Sept. 1 call-up. He gave up two runs on five hits in six innings. Johnson also struck out nine against the Boston Red Sox on April 15, 2014.

In the opener, Jeff Samardzija tossed his first career one-hitter. Samardzija, who struck out six, limited the Tigers to Victor Martinez's bloop single in the fifth. Carlos Sanchez hit a solo home run and scored both of the game's runs.

              Astros 6, Angels 3

HOUSTON -- Dallas Keuchel pitched splendidly into the eighth inning and was buoyed by a balanced attack as Houston beat Los Angeles.

Keuchel (18-8) allowed one run on six hits and one walk with six strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings. With 203 strikeouts on the season, he matched Mike Cuellar for the club record for strikeouts by a left-hander.

Jose Altuve (3-for-4) finished a home run shy of the cycle, while Carlos Correa added three RBIs.

              Cubs 9, Brewers 5

CHICAGO -- Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-3 and scored three runs, and pinch hitter Jorge Soler smacked a three-run home run as Cubs beat Milwaukee.

Soler's seventh-inning homer, his ninth of the season, was his first career pinch-hit shot.

Jason Hammel (9-6) gave up four runs (three earned) in five innings but still earned his second September victory. Milwaukee's Wily Peralta (5-10) allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings while taking his second consecutive loss.

              Red Sox 8, Rays 7

BOSTON -- Xander Bogaerts hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning, and Boston escaped the American League East cellar with a wild win over Tampa Bay.

Bogaerts, who doubled home a run in the seventh, connected on a 2-2 pitch from Brandon Gomes (2-6) for his first career grand slam, capping his career-high, five-RBI night.

Right-hander Jean Machi (1-0) got the win after retiring the only two batters he faced. Left-hander Robbie Ross Jr. recorded his third save in as many days, his fifth of the season, despite allowing a ninth-inning homer to Richie Shaffer.

              Pirates 9, Rockies 3

DENVER -- Pittsburgh crept closer to clinching a spot in the National League playoffs Monday night by beating Colorado.

The Pirates' magic number for making the playoffs is two. They could assure themselves of playing in the postseason by beating the Rockies on Tuesday night and having the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals both lose.

Starling Marte tied his career high with four hits, and he drove in two runs with a first-inning homer and sixth-inning double. Aramis Ramirez also homered in the first off Jon Gray (0-2). Jordy Mercer also matched his career high with four hits, including two run-scoring doubles.

              Diamondbacks 8, Dodgers 4

LOS ANGELES -- Yasmany Tomas, Aaron Hill and Paul Goldschmidt each homered, and Arizona ended a nine-game losing streak at Dodger Stadium with a victory over Los Angeles.

Goldschmidt added his 29th this year in the eighth inning as the Diamondbacks held off a late rally by the Dodgers to prevail. Yasmani Grandal hit a two-run homer, his 16th of this season, in the eighth to pull the Dodgers within two runs, but they got no closer. The Dodgers' magic number to clinch the National League West remained at seven.

Arizona's Jhoulys Chacin (1-1), who spent the first three months of the season with the Cleveland Indians before being signed by the Diamondbacks in June, allowed two runs on six hits with four walks and three strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Game of the Day: Yankees at Blue Jays
                    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Blue Jays have taken five of the last six meetings from the Yankees in the battle for the AL East.

New York Yankees at Toronto Blue Jays (-133, 8.5)

The Toronto Blue Jays have had their way with the New York Yankees, winning 12 of the 17 matchups between the teams to open a 3 1/2-game lead atop the American League East Division. That represents the most wins the Blue Jays have ever had in one season against the Yankees, who look to even the three-game series Tuesday at Toronto.

Monday's 4-2 victory boost the Blue Jays' record to 8-3 against New York since Aug. 7, including winning three of four at Yankee Stadium from Sept. 11-13. Marco Estrada, who surrendered a major league-worst 29 home runs with Milwaukee last year, goes for his 14th win for the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Estrada has the second-lowest ERA (2.70) in the American League in the second half of the season, behind only teammate David Price, who pitched seven scoreless innings in the series opener. Rookie Luis Severino will be under pressure for the Yankees as he attempts to beat Toronto for the first time in three starts.

                    TV:
7:07 p.m. ET, ESPN, YES (New York), RSN (Toronto)

LINE HISTORY: The Blue Jays opened as -140 home favorites and have been bet down to -133. The total has come down a half-run from its opening number of 9.0 to sit at 8.5.

                    INJURY REPORT:

Yankees - SP M. Tanaka (out Wednesday, hamstring), SP N. Eovaldi (out indefinitely, elbow), 1B M. Teixeira (out for season, shin).

Blue Jays - SS T. Tulowitzki (late September, shoulder), 2B D. Travis (60-day DL, shoulder).

                    UMPIRE REPORT:
Chad Fairchild will be the man calling balls and strikes Tuesday night. The home team is 14-12 and the over is 15-11 in his 26 games behind home plate this season. He has a strike percentage of 63.88.

                    PITCHING MATCHUP:
Yankees RH Luis Severino (4-3, 3.12 ERA) vs. Blue Jays RH Marco Estrada (13-8, 3.14)

Severino bounced back from a rocky outing against Toronto by limiting Tampa Bay to one run and six hits over 5 2/3 innings for his fourth victory in five starts. His lone setback during that stretch came against the Blue Jays on Sept. 11, when he was pounded for six runs over 2 1/3 innings - the shortest outing of his brief career. He also took the loss in Toronto on Aug. 16, giving up three while striking out a career-best nine.

Estrada had a shaky outing against the Yankees on Sept. 12, but he rebounded by blanking Atlanta on three hits over eight innings. Estrada escaped with a no-decision against New York despite surrendering three homers and giving up four runs over five innings in an eventual 9-5 victory. Catcher Brian McCann is 7-for-17 against Estrada, who took the loss with six innings of two-run ball against the Yankees on Aug. 15.

                    TRENDS:

                    * Under is 5-0 in the last five meetings in Toronto.
                    * Under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings overall.
                    * Yankees are 1-5 in the last six meetings.
                    * Blue Jays are 4-0 in Estrada's last four starts.

CONSENSUS: The public is siding with the Blue Jays in Game 2 of this pivotal series, with 62.98 percent of wagers backing Toronto, who are currently at -133.

                      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MLB betting cheat sheet: The Road to Elimination
                      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The defending champion San Francisco Giants are all but done, trailing the Los Angeles Dodgers by 7.5 heading into the home stretch.

Here's a comprehensive look at betting notes for the mid-week major-league schedule:

                      The Road To Elimination

The defending champion San Francisco Giants will head out on their final road trip of the season on Tuesday, and unless they can put together a miraculous winning streak, they will likely be eliminated from post-season contention before returning home to AT&T Park. The Giants have lost seven of their last 10 on the road, and four of seven at San Diego in the season series. Trailing the Dodgers by 7.5 games with just 13 games to play the it's obvious that the end is near.

                      Kluber Getting Clobbered

Last year's AL Cy Young winner has been one of this year's biggest disappointments, with a record of 8-14 with a 3.44 ERA. He's winless in his last four starts, allowing 13 runs over 23 2/3 innings. His next start comes on the road at Minnesota Wednesday, and these teams have a history of playing high scoring games, going over in seven of the last 10 in the series. Kluber is just 3-7 with a 3.95 ERA in 15 starts on the road this year.

                      Milwaukee Meltdown

The Brewers won five straight at the beginning of September, but they've since lost 12 of 15. They are in Chicago this week, and they've lost eight in a row to the Cubs. Chicago on the other hand has been red hot, winning 21 of it's last 27 at Wrigley.

*The Washington Nationals lead the major leagues in runs scored in September, batting .288 so far this month. Much of the damage has come off the bat of Bryce Harper, who it hitting .435 in September, and batting a major league best .343 this season.

*Shin Soo Choo is swinging a hot bat in Texas, hitting .520 over the last seven days, and .441 since September 1st. He'll face Felix Doubront of Oakland on Wednesday, and he's 3-for-7 with a home run lifetime versus the left-hander.

                      Pitching Notes

*Jake Arrieta failed to record his 20th win of the season despite tossing a gem at Pittsburgh his last time out. Arrieta went eight innings, allowing one earned run and striking out five, but the Cubs needed extra-innings to get by the Pirates and Jake got the no-decision. He'll get another chance on Tuesday against the Brewers.

*Phil Hughes was sent to the bullpen after allowing three runs on six hits in just three innings in his first start after missing over a month with back pain. He's allowed 14 runs on 21 hits over 13 2/3 innings in his last four appearances. His next start comes Wednesday at home versus Cleveland, and he's 1-2 with an 8.44 ERA against the Indians this season.

                      Totals Streak

The Pittsburgh Pirates won the series opener in Colorado by a score of 9-3, and high scoring games have been the norm at Coors Field lately. The Pirates have seen their fair share of high scoring contests as well, going over in 15 of their last 21 overall. The over is 18-7-2 in the Rockies last 27 home games versus a team with a winning road record.

                      Injury Notes

*Billy Hamilton will need season ending surgery to repair an injured shoulder. The Reds center-fielder leads the majors with 57 stolen bases this season.

*Yadier Molina injured a ligament in his thumb during a play at the plate in Sunday's game versus the Cubs. He's hoping to return to the Cardinals before the end of the regular season.
