  • Friday Night On The Diamond

Back to the MLB Diamond. Let's get some winners tonight.

St Louis Cardinals vs Cincinnati Reds

The Cards pitching staff is starting to wear down as they come in with a very high 5.66 ERA in their last 10 games. They have struggled both at home and on the road over that stretch and allowed an average Cincinnati offense to tag them for 11 runs last night.

The Cards were shut out in that game, but that should not be the case tonight as they will face Michael Lorenzen, who comes in with a whopping 10.43 ERA in his last 7 starts. You read that right. 10.43 ERA over his last 7 starts, with those games averaging 12.9 rpg. Of those games 6 have put up at least 9 runs. The one tat didn't was a 3-0 home loss to St Louis. I do not see that happening again, especially considering how bad both he and the St Louis staff has been of late.

He will give up plenty here and so will Lackey, who has been dominant at home, but on the road he has an ERA of 4.12. He will also be facing a scorching Cincinnati offense that has scored 6 rpg in their last 10 games, hitting .288 vs righties over that stretch.

This is normally and Under series, but I just don't see it tonight. The Cards were shutout last night, but hat was vs a lefty and they don't hit them all that well. Tonight they face a struggling righty and will get their runs, while a hot Cincinnati offense will stay hot.

Play St Louis/ Cincinnati Over 8

Houston Astros vs Los Angeles Angels

The Angels need this series badly as they still have hopes of catching at least a wildcard berth. The Astros are not playing all that well right now and Keuchel is not as strong on the road as he is at home.

The Angels come off a tough 3 game home stand vs a very hot Dodgers team and they won just 1 of the 3 games, but facing Greinke and Kershaw will do that to a team. Still they are 42-30 at home, while the Astros are just 28-40 on the road this year. Keuchel has nice career numbers vs the Angels, but Weaver is 3-1 with a 1.46 ERA in his last 5 stars vs them and in 1 start here vs them he pitched a complete game shutout.

The Clincher: The Angels are 47-17 in Weaver's last 64 home starts.

The Angels are a live home dog here and thais is tyhe way i will be going in this one.

Play Los Angeles +136 over Houston
