    Armadillo: Saturday's six-pack

-- Mets 4, Rays 3-- Wilmer Flores gets GW RBI for second Friday in row, in game where both bullpens coughed up leads late.

-- Angels 6, Orioles 4-- Mike Trout has played on his birthday four times, and hit three home runs-- he is pretty good.

-- Red Sox traded Mike Napoli to Texas, where he is expected to platoon at 1B.

-- Catcher McCann, SS Iglesias got into a brief scuffle in the Detroit dugout, after the young SS didn't dive to keep a ball from leaving the infield. Tensions are high.

-- Blue Jays 2, Bronx 1 (10)-- All three runs came on solo homers.

-- A's 3, Astros 1-- Its always Sonny in Oakland when Gray pitches.

Syndergaard still yet to pick up a win on the road

Noah Syndergaard's numbers may look good at a quick glace, but the rookie right-hander has struggled on the road. In seven road starts this season, Syndergaard is 0-4 with a 4.34 ERA whilw allowing opponents to bat .268.

Syndergaard has allowed eight more earned runs on the road (18) compared to at Citi Field (10) despite pitching fewer games on foreign mounds.

The New York Mets are 1-6 in Syndergaarrd's road starts this season.

The Mets are currently -113 when visit the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday.

Mariners winless in Montgomery's past five starts

Mike Montgomery's recent struggles on the mound have translated to losses for the Seattle Mariners, with the M's dropping his past five starts.

Montgomery has given up 17 earned runs in his past five starts, including an abysmal six earned runs in 2.2 innings on July 22.

It is not all the lefties fault as the Mariners have given Montgomery three runs of support a game.

The Mariners are currently -130 when they host the Texas Rangers Saturday.

Six consecutive wins for Pirates when Liriano starts

The Pittsburgh Pirates have won their past six games when Francisco Liriano takes to the mound, with the June 20 being the last time they lost in the situation.

Through those six games, Liriano has pitched 38.0 innings while only given up nine earned runs versus 35 registered strikeouts.

The Bucs have also been giving Liriano some solid run support, as they have averaged 6.2 runs during Liriano's past six starts.

The Pirates will host the LA Dodgers Saturday.

Giants place RHP Leake on DL

The San Francisco Giants placed right-hander Mike Leake on the 15-day disabled list Friday.

The Giants recalled left-hander Josh Osich from Triple-A Sacramento.

Leake had been scratched from his start against the Chicago Cubs on Friday due to a strained left hamstring. He threw before the game to test the hamstring.

"We decided to go ahead and put him on the disabled list and give him the full 15 days to make sure he's fully recovered," manager Bruce Bochy said. "It's not worth the risk to try to get him ready for the next start."

McHugh becoming a favorite for Under bettors

Colin McHugh has become a popular pitcher for bettors banking on low totals recently.

The Under is 6-1 in McHugh's last seven outings. The right-hander is scheduled to start Saturday opposite Jesse Chavez and the Oakland A's.

Pinnacle Sports has tabbed the tilt with a total of 7.5

Price set to make second start for red-hot Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays remained red-hot Friday thanks to an extra innings 2-1 victory over the New York Yankees.

Toronto has won nine of its last 10 games heading into Saturday's afternoon clash in the Bronx. After coming north via trade from the Colorado Rockies, the Bluebirds are a perfect 9-0 with shortstop Troy Tulowitzki in the starting lineup.

Fellow newcomer David Price is set to make his second start of the season for Canada's sole MLB team. Ivan Nova is slated to counter for the Yanks.

Toronto is currently in the -144 ballpark at sportsbooks.

Mariners have had Rangers' number as of late

The Texas Rangers are a paltry 0-6 in their last six matchups with the Seattle Mariners.

Both sides will renew acquaintances in Washington Saturday. Martin Perez and Mike Montgomery are the probable starters for the Rangers and M's, respectively.

Seattle is currently -121 on the moneyline.

Nationals are on fire for Over backers

Going over totals has not been an issue for the Washington Nationals recently.

The Nats are 6-0 to the Over in their last six overall. Stephen Strasburg and the Nationals welcome Eddie Butler and the Colorado Rockies to D.C. Saturday.

Washington are presently listed as -182 moneyline favorites.

Reds are on a tear for Under bettors

Totals bettors take note: the Cincinnati Reds have become the hottest Under play in Major League Baseball in recent weeks.

The Under is 9-1-1 in the Reds' last 11 contests. During that span, Cincy has scored 35 runs while allowing opposing base runners to cross the plate 26 times.

Bryan Price's crew have been shutout in back-to-back games heading into Saturday's meeting with the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix. Keyvius Sampson (0-1, 4.50 ERA) is scheduled to get the ball for the Reds, while Robbie Ray (3-6, 3.01) is slated to counter for the D-Backs.

Pinnacle Sports has tabbed the NL tilt with an 8.5 run total.

Phillies remain hot since All-Star break

The Philadelphia Phillies continue to sizzle and few saw this coming.

Philadelphia won again, beating the San Diego Padres, 4-3, in 12 innings on Friday night.

The Phillies were awful early and the numbers didn't lie. They set a franchise record with 62 losses before the All-Star break, the most in the major leagues this season.

But since that four-day respite, Philadelphia has been hot.

The team had a slight hiccup, losing their last two to the Los Angeles Dodgers before rolling into San Diego.

But it got back to its winning ways with Friday's rally. Despite looking at a 3-0 disadvantage against Padres ace James Shields, the Phillies prevailed.

"We're winning," said catcher Cameron Rupp, who hit the game-winning home run in the 12th inning. "That changes how you come to the ballpark every day."

No longer are the Phillies punching a clock that is punching back. They have won 14 of the 19 games after the All-Star break and suddenly everything is rosy.

"It changes your approach at the plate," Rupp said. "We're having fun. Everything clicks and that's the way it's going right now."

                    Amazin' week for surging Mets

Over the past week, the New York Mets have lived up to their Amazin' name.

From botched trades, to successful trades, from Wilmer Flores' tears of emotional hurt to his tear of joy, the Mets have been anything but boring.

And with their seventh straight win Friday, the Mets look like real contenders. The young pitching, led by Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard, has been as good as advertised and now with veterans like Juan Uribe and Yoenis Cespendes providing power bats in the middle of the lineup, the Mets are focused on a return to October baseball.

The new grittiness of this team showed Friday as they rallied from one-run deficits on three different occasions to take a two-and-a-half game lead over the Washington Nationals.

"It's a calming influence in the clubhouse," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "Juan's been there, Kelly's been there. It's just a difference sense when you're sitting in the dugout, and they jump out, and you don't feel panic at all."

The Mets are riding this wave and with a loud contingent of fans at Tropicana Field on Friday, it showed when Daniel Murphy made a fist pump after hitting a game-tying home run in the top of the eighth.

"It's been a lot of fun," said rookie outfielder Michael Conforto. "The crowds we have on the road have been great and they give us a lot of energy."

If Conforto thinks the games are fun now, just wait until postseason baseball makes its CitiField debut in October.
