Dodgers trade for Latos, Morse from Marlins

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired right-handed starting pitcher Mat Latos and first baseman/outfielder Mike Morse from the Miami Marlins for prospects, according to multiple reports Wednesday.

The Marlins will receive three minor leaguers, the Miami Herald reported.

Latos (4-7) has managed four consecutive quality starts in which he has allowed just six runs in 26 innings to lower his ERA from 5.49 to 4.48. He is a three-time 14-game winner who can become a free agent after this season. He is making $9.4 million this year.

Morse, who is signed through 2016, is hitting .214 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 52 games. He will join his fifth team in the last three seasons. He is making $7.5 million this year and will earn $8.5 million next year.

Dickey has been a solid pitcher for Under bettors

Toronto Blue Jays knuckleballer R.A. Dickey has given up three earned runs or less in nine of his previous 10 starts heading into Wednesday's meeting with the Philadelphia Phillies at Rogers Centre.

His consistent performances, combined with very little in the way of run support from the Jays' usually-dynamic offense, has made for a very good option for Under bettors. The Under has gone 6-2-2 in those previous 10 outings and has cashed in three straight.

Oddsmakers have a total of 9.5 on the board for Wednesday's game. Jerome Williams is scheduled to start for the Phils.

White Sox are smoking hot on the road

The Chicago White Sox have been crushing opponents on away from home, propelling them to a 10-1 record in their last 11 road games.

For the most part the games haven't even been close, with the Pale Hose outscoring their opponents 61-23 in those 11 games.

Chicago visits the Boston Red Sox Wednesday night, where they are currently slight +105 road dogs.

The White Sox send left-hander Jose Quintana (5-9, 3.56 ERA) to mound to take on the Red Sox's right-hander Rick Porcello (5-10, 5.51 ERA).

Braves are a hot under play after a loss

The under is a red hot 17-4 in the Atlanta Braves last 21 games following a loss and face a moderately high total high 8.5 in today's contest against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Braves send right-hander Michael Foltynewicz (5.27 ERA, 5-3 O/U) to the mound, while the Orioles will counter with Chris Tillman (4.71 ERA, 9-10 O/U).

Holy $hit Betting Stat of the Day: Verlander hasn't been this big a dog since 2010

It seems like a lifetime ago when Detroit Tigers' Justin Verlander was named the American League MVP and Cy Young award winner in the same season and while he has shown glimpses of his former self, he is clearly not the pitcher he once was.

That is highlighted by the fact that he is currently listed as a +156 road dog for Wednesday's game against Tampa Bay Rays and their ace Chris Archer.

It is the biggest dog Verlander has been since an Aug. 17, 2010.

On that date Verlander was matched up against then New York Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia at Yankee Stadium.

If we dig further, between that start in August 2010 and 2014, Verlander was listed as a dog just 10 times. In 2015 alone, he has been listed as a dog five times.

Additionally, the Tigers have lost all seven of Verlander's starts this season and are 1-10 in his last 11 starts against the American League East.
