Making shots; it is that simple; Warriors are 34-83 from arc in their three series wins, 20-69 in two lossess. Golden State was 39-61 from line in last two games, after going just 7-12 in Game 3. Cleveland needs to attack hoop more; they were 15-21 on line last game, 12-35 on arc. Warriors played well once they started playing with sense of desperation; now the Cavaliers are desperate team. Cleveland was 16-62 from arc in last two games- they were 27-89 in first three games.

Mosgov had 28 points in Game 4, played 9 minutes Sunday; will he see the court in this game?

Golden State won 10 of its last 14 games with Cleveland; 11 of the 14 games were decided by 8+ points. Cavaliers are 14-5 so far in playoffs, Warriors are 15-5. Under is 11-3-1 in last 15 Golden State games, 3-0-1 in last four. Under is 6-1-1 in last eight series games. Golden State needs a faster-paced game to succeed in this series. .

Game of the Day: Warriors at Cavaliers
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Golden State Warriors at Cleveland Cavaliers (+4.5, 194.5)

      Warriors lead 3-2

The Golden State Warriors look to secure their first world title in 40 years when they visit the Cleveland Cavaliers in Tuesday's Game 6 of the NBA Finals. Golden State has won the past two games, including Sunday's 104-91 victory, but Cleveland's LeBron James will be aiming for another stellar effort to force a Game 7 on Friday.

James had 40 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists in Game 5 but his second triple-double of the series wasn't enough and now Cleveland's season lies on the brink. "You cope with it by understanding it's just one game and looking at the opportunity we have on Tuesday to force a Game 7," James said in his press conference. "Obviously, for myself, I want to do whatever it takes to help our team win, and I haven't been able to do that the last two games." Warriors guard Stephen Curry had a huge 37-point outing in Game 5 and is ready to close out the series. "We're confident. We're not getting ahead of ourselves," Curry said in his press conference. "In the locker room, if you walked in there was the exact same (feeling) after a regular-season win. But we know the sense of urgency of the moment."

      TV: 9 p.m. ET, ABC

LINE HISTORY: Books initially opened the Cavs as 4.5-point home dogs, but that's since dropped down to +4.

INJURY REPORT: Warriors - S. Curry (probable). Cavaliers - K. Irving (out for season), K. Love (out for season), A. Varejao (out for season).

ABOUT THE WARRIORS: The regular-season MVP version of Curry was on display when he scored 17 points in the fourth quarter of Game 5 and was 7-of-13 from 3-point range for the contest. He struggled with his shooting early in the series -- the 5-for-23 effort in Game 2 was particularly distasteful -- and has made 18 3-pointers over the past three games while raising his series average to 26.2 points. "He had a tough first couple of games and he got going at the end of Game 3 in the fourth quarter and that's all it takes," Golden State coach Steve Kerr said in his press conference. "Steph makes a couple shots, he feels like he's got it rolling, and he's been great ever since."

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS: With Golden State playing a small lineup, Cleveland coach David Blatt opted to match it and turned center Timofey Mozgov into a spectator one game after Mozgov was sensational with 28 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors are happy to play the faster pace and Blatt bristled when reporters repeatedly inferred he played into Golden State's hand by using Mozgov for just nine scoreless minutes. "Did I make a mistake?" Blatt said in his press conference. "Listen, when you're coaching a game, you've got to make decisions. I felt that the best chance for us to stay in the game and to have a chance to win was to play it the way that we played it. It's no disrespect to anyone, certainly not to Timo, who has done a great job for us."

      TRENDS:

*Under is 13-3-1 in Warriors last 17 overall.
*Under is 3-0-1 in Cavaliers last 4 overall.
*Warriors are 12-5 ATS in the last 17 meetings.
*Home team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings.

The basketball betting trend that keeps cashing

The under went 4-1-1 in six WNBA games on Sunday's board, keeping alive one of the hottest betting trends you may not know about.

Season to date, the Over/Under mark in the WNBA is 7-15-2, good enough for the under to cash at a rate of just over 68 percent.

The Washington Mystics (0-4 O/U), Connecticut Sun (0-3-1), San Antonio Stars (0-3) and Los Angeles Sparks (0-1-1) have yet to record an Over.

        There are four games Tuesday.

            WNBA Betting Recap - 6/8-6/14

            June 14, 2015

League Betting Notes (from Monday, June 8 through Sunday, June 14)

-- Underdogs went 8-6 straight up
-- Underdogs went 10-4 against the spread (ATS)
-- Home teams posted a 9-5 SU record
            -- Home/road teams posted a 7-7 ATS record
            -- The 'under' went 8-5-1

            Team Betting Notes

-- For the second straight week, it was the 'under' edging out the 'over' on totals in WNBA play. In the opening week of play the 'under' went 6-4 and in Week 2 it was 8-5-1.

-- Phoenix (2-2) picked up just their second win in four tries, cooling off Minnesota (3-1) by an 81-66 count despite entering as an 8-point underdog. The Mercury also cashed +330 on the moneyline.

-- The 'under' has connected in three of the first four games for the Lynx, and the total record is identical for the Mercury with the under at 3-1.

-- After a nightmare opening weekend, Atlanta (2-3) bounced back with a pair of wins in three tries this week. However, they're still just 1-4 ATS overall on the season, and the 'under' is 3-1-1 for the Dream.

-- Washington (3-1) picked up a road victory, cashing as a 4.5-point underdog at New York (3-2). The Liberty are 3-0 SU against everyone else, and 0-2 against the Liberty. The loss also marked a 4-0 ATS run to open the season for New York.

-- Tulsa (3-1) picked up a 73-62 road win at San Antonio (0-3) Sunday, and that moves the Shock to 4-0 ATS on the young season.

-- The 'under' has hit in all three games for the Stars so far this season. They have a rematch with the Shock in Oklahoma Tuesday.

-- Indiana (1-4) is off to a terrible start, and they suffered yet another loss and non-cover Sunday at the hand of Chicago (2-2). The Fever have opened the season 0-5 ATS. They'll look to get their first cover on the road Friday in Atlanta.

-- Lastly, Connecticut (3-1) posted an impressive 82-64 victory against Atlanta. The Sun have opened the season 4-0 ATS, and the 'under' is 3-0-1 through four games for Connecticut.

-- Los Angeles (0-2) has had only two games so far, both against Seattle (2-2). The Sparks are 0-2 ATS, too, so they'll be happy to see someone else on the schedule, even if it is Minnesota Tuesday.

Padres tap Pat Murphy as interim manager for rest of season

                          June 16, 2015

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Padres picked Triple-A manager Pat Murphy to serve as the big league club's interim manager for the rest of the season Tuesday, a day after firing Bud Black following a lackluster start.

The 56-year-old Murphy has been with the Padres organization since 2010 and has managed the Padres' Triple-A affiliate in El Paso the last three seasons.

Black, who was in his ninth season as manager, had a 649-713 record but never took San Diego to the postseason.

He was named 2010 National League manager of the year after leading the Padres to a 90-72 record, the most wins by San Diego since a franchise-record 98 in 1998. The Padres haven't had a winning season since then and last year finished 18 games behind Los Angeles in the NL West.

Brewers broadcaster Uecker hit by ball

                            June 16, 2015

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee Brewers Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Uecker was hospitalized overnight after he was hit in the head by a baseball during batting practice.

The Brewers flagship radio station, WTMJ (http://bit.ly/1dIkh87 ), says a pop-up hit Uecker prior to Monday night's Brewers-Kansas City Royals game. The 81-year-old broadcaster worked the first six innings of the game and started feeling dizzy.

Team doctors checked him out and sent him to Froedtert Hospital. He was diagnosed with a mild concussion and remained in the hospital overnight.

Uecker says he'll see how he's feeling Tuesday afternoon before deciding whether to call the game Tuesday night.

                              Yanks, Marlins meet in Miami

                              June 16, 2015

NEW YORK YANKEES (34-29) at MIAMI MARLINS (28-37)

First pitch: Tuesday, 7:10 p.m. ET
                              Sportsbook.ag Line: Miami -110, New York +100, Total: 8

The New York Yankees look to rebound from a recent rough stretch when they take on the Miami Marlins in the second of two games in Florida.

The Yankees have been a very streaky team this year, and after rattling off seven straight wins against the likes of Seattle, Los Angeles Angels and Washington, they have now lost four of their past five games. The recent poor stretch has dropped them a game behind Tampa Bay in the AL East and they followed a series loss in Baltimore with a 2-1 defeat on Monday night.

The offense was unable to back Masahiro Tanaka’s solid effort (7 IP, 2 ER, 9 H, 6 K) as they had just three hits in the contest. The only run came off the bat of 1B Mark Teixeira (.256) with a solo homer and he is now first in the AL in both HRs (18) and RBI (48) while going 9-for-21 (.429) with three doubles and a homer in his current six-game hitting streak.

Miami has finally begun to play some better baseball of late and come into this one as winners in four of its last five games. Overall in the month of June. they are 8-6 and it is the pitching staff which has been getting it done lately with a mere seven runs allowed in the last five contests (1.4 runs per game). They gave up only three hits to the Yanks on Monday and backed a great performance (7 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 5 K) by starter Tom Koehler with 10 hits and a late homer from 2B Derek Dietrich (.400). Much of their offense comes from the bat of OF Giancarlo Stanton (.261) who has a league-leading 23 homers and 59 RBI while going 15-for-37 (.405) with four doubles, five long balls, 12 RBI and eight runs scored in the last 10 games.

The pitching battle will be a fun one as the two starters, RHP Nathan Eovaldi (5-1, 4.13 ERA) and RHP David Phelps (3-3, 4.11 ERA) were on the opposing team in 2014. Monday’s loss brought New York’s record on the road to an even 18-18 as they face this Marlins group which will pull to even on the year at home with a win after going 16-17 thus far. The two clubs do not meet much and the first contest of this series was the only meeting between the two over the past three seasons. Trends show that Miami is a poor 8-14 (.364) as a home favorite of -110 or higher this year as they are 21-13 (.618) when playing on Tuesday’s over the last two seasons.

OFs Jacoby Ellsbury (Knee) and Slade Heathcott (Quad) along with 3B Alex Rodriguez (Rest) are expected to miss this game for New York as 3B Martin Prado (Shoulder) is doubtful and 1B Mike Morse (Finger) is out for Monday’s matchup.

Eovaldi has some of the nastiest pure “stuff” in the business and has a fastball that is averaging a blistering 95.8 MPH this season; the second-highest mark amongst qualified starters in the big leagues. Surprisingly, that has not lead to a wealth of strikeouts as he is mowing down just 6.5 batters per nine innings while showing decent control (2.5 BB/9). The righty is getting batters to hit it on the ground at a career-high rate of 48.5% and is leaving 78.7% of runners on base.

The Yanks have now won in seven of his last 10 starts as he has failed to get more than six strikeouts during any of the outings and had just four quality starts during that stretch. This will be his first time seeing his former team as the opposing pitcher but may be upset that 3B Martin Prado is out with an injury as he is a meager 2-for-14 with a homer and two RBI when facing Eovaldi. Besides Stanton, the 25-year-old will need to be careful when taking on 2B Dee Gordon (.352) who ranks second in both batting average and stolen bases (22) in the NL.

The Marlins bullpen has gone 9-13 with a 3.71 ERA (1.32 WHIP) and is a meager 11-for-22 (50%) in save chances. A.J. Ramos (1.42 ERA, 9 saves) has three blown saves on the year but has posted an impressive 14:2 K/BB ratio over his last nine appearances (8.2 IP).

Phelps is in the midst of a career season as his control (2.3 BB/9) has improved a ton since his time with New York and has allowed a career-low 0.69 HR/9 in 65.2 innings. With his increase in control has come a decrease in the amount of swings-and-misses that he receives as he is striking out just 6.2 batters per nine innings. Despite his consistent play, the Marlins have lost five of their last six games when Phelps is on the mound, but he is coming off a very impressive showing (8 IP, 0 ER, 4 H 6 K) in a win over Colorado last week.

With him being on the Yankees for the beginning of his career, Phelps has yet to oppose them on the mound with his only experience against a New York starter being SS Didi Gregorius who is 0-for-2 with a strikeout in the matchup. The bat that Phelps will need to most watch out for besides Teixeira’s is C Brian McCann (.261) who has gone 10-for-30 (.333) with three doubles, a home run and six RBI over the last nine games.

The New York bullpen has managed to go 10-7 with a 3.25 ERA (1.15 WHIP) and have successfully saved 21-of-25 (84%) games. Dellin Betances (0.27 ERA, 3 saves) will get the ninth innings while Andrew Miller is on the DL and he has allowed just one earned run with 11 hits allowed and 55 strikeouts (14.9 K/9) in 33.1 innings of work.
