    Armadillo: Sunday's six-pack

-- Clippers 111, Spurs 109-- LA wins tremendous 7-game series.

-- Of eight teams left in NBA playoffs, three have never won a title; '98 Bulls are the most recent champion that is still playing.

-- Tennessee Volunteers didn't have player taken in NFL Draft for the first time since way back in 1963.

-- Florida State (11), Louisville (10) had the most players taken.

-- Rangers' 3B Adrian Beltre has played the 3rd-most games (2,363) at third base of anyone in big league history.

-- Only seven QBs were drafted this year, the least since 1967.

    **********

Armadillo: Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up an outstanding day.......

    13) Baseball umpire Bill Miller is a tough dude; he was doing the plate Friday night-- in the ninth inning he gets drilled on the left kneecap by a pitch the Angels' catcher totally missed-- he was on the ground for a while, but he didn't come off the field and he umpired third base Saturday. Like I said, tough guy.

    12) TNT announcer Reggie Miller blew off announcing Game 7 of the Clipper-Spur series so he could go to the fight in Las Vegas-- why should TNT keep him on their payroll? He's not that good an analyst anyway.

    11) So the Spurs have the ball with one second left, down a hoop, their whole season on the line. They line up, they start to run the play-- the guy running the scoreboard hits the horn for no apparent reason, setting off San Antonio's bench into a justifiable frenzy. It helps to be playing at home.

    10) Serious question: Do people/companies who own airplanes have to pay airports to land/take off?

    9) Cal Golden Bears had a huge recruiting season; they landed Jaylen Brown this weekend, one of the best recruits in the Class of 2015. Cal will be a top 10 team when the season starts in November.

    8) Saints drafted Colorado State QB Garrett Grayson, the highest the Saints have drafted a QB since Archie Manning in 1971.

    7) The woman who plays Kevin Kline's wife (Joanna Gleason) in the movie Last Vegas is the daughter of the old gameshow host Monty Hall.

    6) Next week's Players Championship will have all of world's top 50 golfers for the first time since 2005- it used to always be played before The Masters.

    5) Starling Gibbs transfers from Seton Hall to UConn, a good get for Kevin Ollie and the Huskies. Gibbs averaged 16 ppg for the Pirates LY- they must've had a dismal season, as many transfers as they've had the last few months.

    4) St John's landed recruit Malik Ellison, son of Pervis Ellison. Have feeling Chris Mullin is going to have a power on his hands pretty soon.

    3) Over the last 6+ years, under is 124-79 when James Hoye umps the plate.

    2) SEC wound up 54 players drafted this weekend, 9th year in row they had the most players drafted. ACC had 47 guys taken, Pac-12 had 39.

    1) It boggles my mind that Floyd Mayweather made $180 million last night.

Pitcher change - Royals' SP Jason Vargas scratched

Kansas City vs. Detroit on May 3 at 2:10 PM. New Starter: Jeremy Guthrie

Indians' Kluber loses to Jays, remains winless

Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Corey Kluber was roughed up once again Saturday, this time courtesy of the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Indians fell 11-4 to the Jays, with Kluber (0-4) surrendering six of those runs. The Tribe has lost each of his six starts this season.

It's been far from an ideal beginning to the campaign for last season's Cy Young winner. Kluber has now allowed 17 runs and 31 hits over 17.5 innings in his last three outings.

MLB roundup: Yankees beat Red Sox again

BOSTON -- Brett Gardner drove in three runs as the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 4-2 on Saturday at Fenway Park.

New York won for the ninth time in its last 11 games and has taken the first two of a three-game weekend set against Boston, which will try to avoid a sweep Sunday.

Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (2-0) gave up two runs on seven hits and one walk, and he had two strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Right-hander Dellin Betances shut the door with a scoreless ninth for his first save.

New York designated hitter Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-4 one day after he clubbed his 660th career home run, tying Willie Mays for fourth place on the all-time home run list.

            Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 4

LOS ANGELES -- Joc Pederson hit another home run and Howie Kendrick added a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead a two-run rally that enabled Los Angeles to defeat Arizona.

The Dodgers rallied from a 4-3 deficit with two out in the seventh against reliever Evan Marshall. Pederson tied the score with his fourth home run in four starts and his sixth of the season -- a solo drive halfway up the center-field stands.

Pederson is the first Dodger rookie to hit home runs in four consecutive games since Bill Sudakis in 1969.

            Padres 4, Rockies 2

SAN DIEGO -- Brandon Morrow held Colorado to two runs in six innings and Justin Upton reversed a one-run deficit with a two-run single in the fifth inning as San Diego won at Petco Park.

Morrow improved to 2-0 as he allowed seven hits and a walk in a 100-pitch effort.

Brandon Maurer worked two perfect innings of relief and closer Craig Kimbrel picked up his seventh save.

            Rangers 8, A's 7 (10 innings)

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rougned Odor's walk-off single through a drawn-in infield with the bases loaded scored Shin-Soo Choo and gave Texas an extra-inning win.

Choo, who entered with a .107 average, had two hits, including a double to lead off the 10th and a three-run homer in the seventh that brought the Rangers back from a four-run deficit.

Kyle Blanks matched a career high with four hits and four RBIs, including a solo home run in the sixth for the Rangers, whose struggling offense entered the game with a major-league low .213 average.

            Tigers 2, Royals 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- David Price threw a complete-game and Anthony Gose collected three hits and scored a run as Detroit blanked Kansas City.

Price stopped the Royals on five hits, walked none and struck out three.

Center fielder Lorenzo Cain homered with two out in the ninth to ruin Price's shutout.

            Reds 8, Braves 4

ATLANTA -- Jason Marquis, who didn't pitch in the majors last season after elbow surgery, is showing that his long career isn't over.

Marquis won his third straight start as Cincinnati defeated Atlanta behind three home runs.

Marlon Byrd, Todd Frazier and Zack Cozart homered, the first two off Braves starter Eric Stults.

            Astros 11, Mariners 4

HOUSTON -- Behind a power display that produced five home runs, including back-to-back blasts in the third and fourth innings, Houston extended its winning streak to nine games at Minute Maid Park.

Evan Gattis, Colby Rasmus, Jose Altuve, Luis Valbuena and Hank Conger all went deep for the Astros, providing ample run support for Collin McHugh.

McHugh surrendered four homers, but they were solo shots as the Mariners failed to keep pace with the Astros' offensive barrage. Seattle's Nelson Cruz cranked two of the Mariners' four homers for his 16th career multihomer game.

            Nationals 1, Mets 0

NEW YORK -- Gio Gonzalez continued his mastery of New York at Citi Field when he earned the win with seven shutout innings.

Michael Taylor's RBI infield single in the second inning provided the game's only run as the Nationals won for the fourth time in five games.

The Mets have lost six of nine.

            Orioles 4, Rays 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Playing their second home game at Tropicana Field because of the rioting that occurred in Baltimore after the funeral of Freddie Gray, the Orioles wanted to give a strong contingent of fans clad in orange-and-black something to cheer about.

A night after losing a home game relocated to Florida, the Orioles did just that as starter Miguel Gonzalez limited Tampa Bay to four hits and one walk in 7 2/3 scoreless innings to help secure the victory.

The announced crowd of 12,789 was somewhat better than the 9,945 that showed up Friday night but still smaller than the 17,545 average for home attendance at Rays games this season. Similar to Friday night, all tickets were sold at general admission prices.

            Giants 5, Angels 4

SAN FRANCISCO -- Brandon Crawford and Buster Posey belted home runs to help San Francisco Tim Hudson post his first win of the 2015 season.

Casey McGehee had three hits and Crawford, Posey and Nori Aoki added two apiece in an 11-hit assault on four Angels pitchers as the Giants evened their all-time interleague record at 148-148 with a second consecutive win to open the three-game series.

Hudson, who received just five runs of support in his first four starts, was given a two-run cushion in the second inning and pitched with a lead until leaving one batter into the ninth after throwing 96 pitches.

            Blue Jays 11, Indians 4

CLEVELAND -- Toronto scored six unearned runs in the sixth inning and 2014 American League Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber remained winless in 2015.

An error by Cleveland third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall opened the door for Toronto's six-run sixth that blew open the game. Designated hitter Jose Bautista had two hits and four RBI, Russell Martin homered and right-hander Aaron Sanchez (2-2) pitched into the sixth inning to get the win despite walking six batters.

Kluber, who was 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA last year, pitched five innings, giving up five runs (four earned) and eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks. In six starts, Kluber is 0-4 with a 4.62 ERA.

            Twins 5, White Sox 3

MINNEAPOLIS -- Torii Hunter had three hits, including a two-run homer, as Minnesota beat Chicago.

Hunter also scored a pair of runs as the Twins rallied from an early two-run deficit for their third consecutive victory and climbed to .500 for the first time this season. Minnesota will go for the four-game sweep of Chicago on Sunday.

Ricky Nolasco, activated off the 15-day disabled list after the game on Friday, earned the victory, allowing three runs on eight hits and a walk in five innings of work.

            Brewers 6, Cubs 1

CHICAGO -- Ryan Braun's first-inning home run gave Mike Fiers all of the support he needed in Milwaukee's victory.

Braun's two-run shot was just the start for Milwaukee, which led 4-0 after two innings and gave Fiers a comfortable cushion early in his six-inning outing, his longest of the season.

Fiers allowed just three hits and one run, walked two and struck out 12, the most since he fanned 14 on Aug. 14, 2014, also against the Cubs. Cubs' Jake Arrieta slipped to 2-3 all-time against Milwaukee.

            Cardinals 2, Pirates 1 (11 innings)

ST. LOUIS -- Starter Francisco Liriano flirted with a no-hitter, but all Pittsburgh got in the end was another bitter extra-inning defeat.

Stranding a whopping 18 men on base, the Pirates eventually paid the price when St. Louis scored in the bottom of the 11th.

Matt Carpenter delivered a sacrifice fly with one out off reliever Jared Hughes, who took the loss. It scored Pete Kozma, who had singled with one out and then moved to third as Jon Jay chopped a single to right.

            Marlins 7, Phillies 0

MIAMI -- Martin Prado hit a three-run homer to lead Miami to its ninth win in the last 10 games and send Philadelphia to its fifth straight loss.

Prado finished 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Dee Gordon went 3-for-3, raising his batting average to .340, and scored three runs.

Dan Haren allowed four hits and no walks in six innings. He retired the Phillies in order in three of his six innings. Relievers Nick Masset (two innings) and Sam Dyson (one inning) to complete the shutout.
