  • Belmont Stakes and Undercard Saturday plays

    Belmont Stakes

    1. Bluegrass Cat
    2. Sunriver
    3. Oh So Awesome
    4. Steppenwolfer
    5. High Finance

Analysis: pletcher is way overdue to win a triple crown race and both of his horses look strong. I'm putting Bluegrass Cat on top because that's the one his key rider, Velazquez, chose to ride. Oh So awesome is my favorite longshot for reasons stated in a separate thread. High Finance is a speed horse in a race without any pace and may stick around until the deep stretch.

    Other races:

BEST BET OF THE DAY: Pletcher's #5 Keyed Entry in Race 8, the Woody Stephens (formerly known as the Riva Ridge).
Lots of speed horses in here and this one has run long so may show more stamina.

Race 7 #2 Gorella; in Just A Game Handicap
    Heavy fave; looks unbeatable

    Race 9 #7 Teammate
Just a mild opinion in a wide open race, the Acorn.

Race 10 #8 English Channel in Manhattan Handicap
Box w/ #4 Cacique and #9 Dreadnaught. Eng Channel another Pletcher horse

        Gris
If the track comes up sloppy, do you still recommend the plays?
There's the threat of rain for Sat.

        Thanks

Pedigrees of all of them seem Ok for wet tracks. Zito, jerkens and Pletcher always seem to run horses in mud caulks so their horses might benefit. Trainer of deputy Glitters says he'll scratch if it's wet as that horse has run two awful races on wet tracks

                  WC,

If the turf is soft, English Channel might not be the play; Cacique is a former European and might benefit.

It's my understanding the NY area may get some rain the next couple of days but not a downpour.

GL on whatever you do play.
