I only recommend doubling your show bet for one reason. I hope the horse at least finishes 3rd. If so, I would get the money I lost on the win and place bet back this way. I bet more, but thats how I do it. You can go 10-10-20 or 100-100-200. Thats just how I do it to protect my win and place bets.
