Payout Question???

I'm new to this horse betting thing and have a question. I had $30 on a horse to show yesterday and the horse finished in 3rd. The payout was $3.00 for show. I'm not sure but my book said that I only win $15 for that. Is this the right payout amount, I'm really new to this and don't know. Any help would be appreciated,, thanks.....

You won $15 + $30=$45 this is what you should have gotten back.
