This is my first real look at the entire card at Saratoga.....
I don't feel overly confident as I am not too thrilled with the card...
Races 1 and 2 are Hurdles so I have no opinion here..
R3
8 Proveyourlove - addition of blinkers and a bullet from the gate should put colt closer to the pace.
5 Philosopher King - set blistering opening fractions of 22/23 @ first asking.
7 Mckenzie Pass - million $ yearling from the Lewis' and trained by D Wayne (first time starter)
R4 A tough race to 'cap 2 yo MSW on the Turf
Going with a first time starter
3 Summer Palace
Purchased in May for $300k at Fasig Tipton has to mean something for this firster who shows a list of impressive works.
R5
A paceless route with N1X state breds
I am experimenting with making my own speed ratings. They are still raw as I have not incorporated any variants or track adjustments yet.
Top 3 in order
5 Ink the Deal
3 Mr. Malaprop
1 Edge Road - This horse I will place on top. He was third last out to Meniscus who is one of the figure horses in the Stakes race today and a next out winner.
***8 Raffit has the potential but has 1 race since'03 a beaten 35 3/4 lengths. He hasn't earned my Happy Meal money ....yet
R6 I have absolutely NO idea here. I just hope non of these pigs get lost or make a right turn......
R7
7 PLenty
Should get the lead and take the field gate to wire (if it stays on the green).
R8
Every horse here wants and seems to need the lead. Its a short 7 horse field w/ 6 betting interests....
Unfortunately I have to give a tepid nod to the 8/5 ml fav 4 Galloping Grocer. He seems to be the class here and eventhough he has been beaten by Gold and Roses (narrowly) That race followed the Wood after only 2 weeks. Horse seems to run well fresh.
Race 9
I am still wrestling with this the last race on the card. If I get something I will post it. If I can.....
