This web sites write ups was posted by someone during Del Mar meet and they did very well. Yesterday they hit a long shot pay $26. Here is todays pick from speedfigures . c o m:
Native Badgett (#10)
The 6th race is a maiden sprint for California-breds going 6 furlongs. Par is a 101. This field looks weaker than normal for the level and NATIVE BADGETT (5-1) is a juicy price off his strong try up North at Bay Meadows last time out. He comes from one of the top barns up there and it's interesting that they show the confidence to get pitch him in against Southern California competition but have also found a nice spot because the race is restricted to Cal-bred horses. When he made his debut last summer as a 2 year old his connections also showed some confidence in him when they raced him in a restricted Cal-bred stakes sprint at Pleasanton. That race didn't work out so well as he was bumped at the start and was outrun.
9 months later he surfaced at Bay Meadows in an open straight maiden sprint and earned a 104-99+ after prompting a very fast pace and was still leading to the 1/8th pole. He got weary late but had dueled on a fast pace off the layoff. He'll get no respect off his Northern Calif. races but fits as well as anybody else in here. He has two strong workouts at Bay Meadows since the comeback race and then a solid work over the track at Hollywood, so he has been settled and prepped for a good try here. Blinkers go on as well as Espinoza taking the mount. This guy should show his speed while stalking from the far outside and getting a nice trip. He looks live at good value.
After NATIVE BADGETT it looks like we'd have to spread a bit in the exotics. MAXIMUM HEAT (5-1) comes out of the strong King Of LA race where he earned 95-95+ with a distant 3rd place finish that was better than it looked. MODERN VIEWPOINT (10-1) is a strong working first time starter from sneaky trainer Mike Marlow and could be a good longshot. SMOKEY WHITE EYES (3-1) just earned a 102-100 with figures just slightly below our top pick NATIVE BADGETT but SMOKEY earned those with the trigger of a drop in against Cal-bred maiden claimers so it's unlikely for him to improve as much as NATIVE BADGETT. COUNTRY PHONE (5-2) is the morning line favorite, although he looks about 4th or 5th best in here. He earned a 99-98+ while tiring a bit going 5-1/2 furlongs in his debut. He comes from Jeff Mullins barn and Alex Solis takes the call today but this guy was 57-1 in his debut race and looks like he'll be overbet.
NATIVE BADGETT is our spot play win bet today and at good value I would focus on the straight pools as the primary bet. I will do some exotics keying NATIVE BADGETT to MAXIMUM HEAT, MODERN VIEWPOINT and SMOKEY WHITE EYES. Good luck.
