SANTA ANITA -- Race #4 -- NATURAL ROUTE (#8)

The 4th race is a bottom level maiden claiming sprint for fillies and mares. The par level is a 94. As per our speed figures report, NATURAL ROUTE (7-2) looks like the true "benchmark" for this level. This filly has earned final figures ranging from the mid 93's to mid 96 over her last five races. Most recently, NATURAL ROUTE checked in second with better than par figures of 88-94+ for this same 94 level. It really looks like anything close to a repeat of that race should get the job done today. NATURAL ROUTE may have found a field she can dominate since the overall quality of this group is lacking.
ELUSIVE BABE (4-1) and SCRIPTRESS (5-2) may have their share of supporters which could keep the price of our spot play ( NATURAL ROUTE ) very close to her 7-2 morning line. ELUSIVE BABE and SCRIPTRESS will be dropping from the Maiden Special Weight ranks to "rock bottom" which is not exactly the most positive signal. I'm most comfortable with a straight wager on NATURAL ROUTE, since the other two favorites have major question marks concerning talent or current form. Good luck!
