Hopefully the OTB and phone wagering can get going here in Jersey so that we can up the purse structure permanently in the state. It's a shame but you'll never have slots at the track like Delaware and now PA and Ny. But the casinos gave the commission enough money to keep them out.

I have yet to get my 4njbets account... meant to do it on Wednesday but ended up doing shots and beers at my local watering hole after work. It is a shame to watch all of the other tracks surrounding us move forward while we struggle to keep the horseman in state. I don't want to see NJ racing become another Pimlico. (Now that track has fallen on hard times.... visited it in April... not going back there!)

You're absolutely right. In this business if you don't keep up with the Jones' you fall behind real fast and sometimes never recover. I've got a few friends with horses who just as well race a 10k claimer in WV for a 15k purse than Jersey for an 8k purse. Can watch the races on youbet and expressbet live. So what if you're not in the winners circle picture. It's all about the cash.

I love playing the races at Delaware Park. Full fields, nice payouts, and good purses. They draw the horsemen away from NJ, Philly, and Maryland. My wife loves to go there and play the one arm bandits. Food is cheap, beer is cheap... what isn't there to love.... then you come home to Jersey, go to the Meadowlands and pay 4.75 for a beer, another 5.00 for some rubbery chicken fingers with a few fries. At least at Monmouth and Philly I can bring my cooler with me.
My inlaws bought some property in PA... 1/2 hour from both Pocono Downs and Penn.... and 5 minutes from an OTB. I may be spending some good quality out there.

Unfortunately for us in Jersey, Youbet, Brisbet, TVG, etc. will not an account from Jersey due to the laws here. Jersey set up their own modeled after Philly Park's Phonebet and called it 4njbets. I would like to hear some feedback from people that have signed up and used it so far!

I still set up the account at Youbet just can't wager through it. Still get to see the races though for a monthly fee. Wager through Pinnacle and TCB 7% back on all bets.

NJ is controlling the internet gambling in the state... what they term legal internet gambling in the state anyway. I have used offshore books, but my chiropractor's husband works for the attorney general's office and warned me to be careful since the state was cracking down on people using offshore books. I honestly have not heard of any busts or the state chasing anyone for using offshore... but who knows, I decided to play it a little safer and stop using them for a while.
