YTD: -$83.50 after a cold two weeks for this program.
Saratoga Race 9 Play #4 Keesler
New York bred broke his maiden last out in April versus open company at Keeneland. Meets far easier as he tackles fellow New York breds in this seven furlong allowance sprint. Trainer 5-for-20 so far at saratoga.
Arlington Race 9 Gr. I Arlington Million Play #3 Sweet Return AND #7 Epalo
Most regard this year's running of America's premier summer turf race as wide open. Indeed, the thirteen horse field features high level runners from around the world but there appear to be two stickouts. The large field likely means there will not be a prohibitive favorite so betting on both horses is prudent. Sweet Return has been pointed to this race all year and has run credibly in three Grade I races in a row. Ran very well in finishing third last out in Eddie Read at Del Mar behind two well-meant runners. America's top grass jockey, Jerry Bailey, in to ride after giving this horse an un-Bailey like iffy ride last out. Trainer has won this race three times. Likewise, Epalo's trainer is also a past winner of the Million and almost won it last year as well. Epalo romped to a crushing win in a $2 million race in Singapore in May and prepped for this race by running second 13 days ago at his home course in Cologne, Germany. Germany's leading jockey in to ride. Horse is 15-for-19 win or place. Good tactical speed. Europe's top grass horses tower over those from America and while Epalo is slightly below Europe's best, he is very good and his trainer is unparallelled at shipping around the world. As for Sweet Return, he's primed for the race of his life with a highly motivated jockey and trainer. I think there's a very good chance these horses run one-two. It could be a dead heat.
All three plays will be rated at $10 to win and place.
