YTD: -$63.50
One strong play on Wednesday. Play rated, as usual, at $10 to win and place
Saratoga Race 8 DeLaRose Stakes Play #3 Super Brand
Pick is for TURF ONLY. Makes first start in U.S. in this small stakes on the turf restricted to fillies and mares who have not won a large purse on the grass. Went four-for-seven last year in South Africa and ran a strong second in only other start this year running against males in a $100,000 stakes in Dubai. This is actually a drop in class in comparison to that race. The Dubai race was a sprint, which is not this horse's forte but she acquitted herself wonderfully. Half-sister to Trademark, a major horse in New York in 2002 and 2003 for Super Brand's trainer who is off to a solid start at the Saratoga meet. Closer should get a solid pace to run at. Ridden by Jerry Bailey, who always seems to know where to position horses in grass races. Draws excellent third post position in this one mile race, allowing Bailey to save ground. First time Lasix. Two other horses in here are strong (#2 Snowdrops and #9 High Court) which will boost the price but she will not be a great value because the "word" is out on this horse's ability.
Opinion only: you might want to pair this horse in the late daily double with #11 Moment of Honour in the ninth.
