DEL MAR -- Race #7 -- PIONEERMAN (#6)

Today's 7th race is a first level allowance turf sprint for California breds only. Par for this level is a 104. Trainer A C Avila could not have found a better race for PIONEERMAN (6-1). The conditions are perfect for this three year old turf sprint specialist. PIONEERMAN will get to turf sprint against Cal breds ONLY for the first time today.
As far as speed figures are concerned, PIONEERMAN has earned three very solid figures run over at the Hollywood Park meet. In the Harry Henson Stake, PIONEERMAN posted figures of 102-103+ at the 108 level. Versus claiming $62,500 open company, PIONEERMAN earned 102-103 for his second place finish. Most recently, PIONNERMAN had the misfortune of racing against Atten Hut from the Jeff Mullins barn. As we all know, Jeff Mullins doesn't lose too many races around these parts. PIONEERMAN still earned very solid figures of 104-103 for a tough beat second.
Based on turf sprint figures, SPENCER'S MAGIC has the best pair of final figures ( 103+ and 104+ ). His most recent race was a "dump job" at odds of 1-2 which is why I'll play against him today. AWARD WINNING TEAM has the best recent DIRT sprint figure of 102-105+ while in the hot Bill Spawr barn. I can't be sure how AWARD WINNING TEAM will handle the surface change.
A straight wager only on PIONEERMAN will be my plan of attack for today. AWARD WINNING TEAM and SPENCER'S MAGIC could be used as quinella mates if one's so inclined. Good luck!
