DEL MAR -- Race #7 -- SENOR FANGO (#4)

Today's 7th race is the Graduation Stakes for two year olds bred in California. The par level for this 5 1/2 furlong dash is a 103. Early speed is never a bad thing at this distance here at Del Mar. Last season, 46% of the winners took their fields wire to wire at this short sprint distance. If early speed is the way to go this season, I believe we've found our colt for this race.
SENOR FANGO (3-1) broke his maiden on the 4th of July at Hollywood Park with outstanding figures of 108-103 versus maiden $62,500 claiming open company. Since today's par level is a 103, SENOR FANGO plots as the lone colt with a final figure equal to par. The bad news for the rest of this field is that SENOR FANGO earned his par final figure after having to set a 108 pace figure. This group has not been exposed to a 108 pace figure which means SENOR FANGO is much more battle tested for today's conditions.
My wagering strategy will call for a straight wager on SENOR FANGO along with one exacta combo to the Mullins maiden SWISS LAD. Good luck!
