  • Sunday's Best Bets

YTD: +$117.00 after another winning day on Saturday with two winners from three selections. All plays rated at $10 to win and place.

Belmont Park Race 5 Play #7 Every Trick
Seven furlong sprint. Several highly touted three year old fillies meet in this allowance race but our selection can get the mild upset. Faded badly after showing speed in comebacker from layoff last out but might be loose on the lead. Major rider switch to Edgar Prado. Trainer Nick Zito hot right now.

Belmont Park Race 7 Play #8 Gone To War
Pick is good for turf OR dirt. Makes first start off seven month layoff after failing three times late last year as odds-on favorite but cuts back to a better distance. Solid work tab. Probably prefers grass but if expected rains come and race is switched to main track, he still sticks out as the one to beat.

Arlington Park Race 7 Play #8 Hunting Hillbilly
Pick is for TURF ONLY. This horse has been stuck at the entry level allowance level but ran credibly over the winter versus tougher in Florida. Ran decently in first start off the layout last out from a very poor outside post. Speed figure in last lags others in here which should help the price. Was favored last time. May get 4-1 today.

Arlington Park Race 8 Play #2 Fortunistic
Broke maiden in first ever start last out at today's one mile distance. Trainer has won or placed with 23 of 46 starters so far at this track and has a solid win percentage with second time starters. The race favorite, who has the top two speed figures in here, is vulnerable at a mile after two shorter efforts.

Horseman's Park Race 4 Omaha Hcp. Play #6 Kodema
This horse has been running in similar $100,000 stakes around the midwest this year and outclasses this field. Tricky track at only five furlongs means the one mile distance is around three turns which should set up for this horse's stalking style. (If you're wondering, this track is open only four days a year and puts on a small race meet to keep its simulcast license. This is its biggest race. Whatever.)

All plays rated for grading purposes at $10 to win and place.
