  • Saturday Triple Play

YTD: +$85.00 (based on only $10 to win and place on all selections)

Belmont Park Race 7 Play #1 Pop Princess
Horse was 2-for-3 last year as a three-year old in Canada. Comes off long layoff in first race for trainer Bobby Frankel. Speed figures tower over the rest of the field. Unusually fast workouts for a Frankel horse. Race seems to be a stepping stone for a stakes. Will be a short price but very likely winner.

Arlington Park Race 9 Round Table Stakes Play #9 Cryptograph
Three year old stakes race draws a very weak field which provides an opportunity for Cryptograph. Finished a close third against tougher at Prairie Meadows last out in a $250,000 stakes. 4-for-8 lifetime. Must overcome outside post but that has been the better part of the track for most of the Arlington meet. Trainer has had great success shipping in to this track in past. 1 1/8 mile distance should be no problem.

Ellis Park Race 10 Play #11 Whose Career
Likely to be overlooked in second start of career. Ran a seemingly dull seventh in debut versus maiden claimers and now steps up to maiden special weight. But that maiden claiming race was very fast for the class level and the horse was wide throughout. Trainer Dale Romans is hot right now and all four of his horses have been in the money at this meet. Barn's go-to rider stays aboard.

All races will be rated at $10 to win and place.

          Recap

          Another winning day!

While heavily favored Pop Princess burned a lot of money, including mine, while blocked in the stretch and finishing third, my other two selections won. Cryptograph was much the best, winning in hand and paying $3.80 to win and $2.80 to place. Whose Career cruised at Ellis at 5-2, paying $7.00 to win and $4.80 to place.

          Total wagered: $60
Cashed: $92 (based on $10 to win and place)
          Profit: +$32.00

YTD: +$117.00 (against 15-17 percent takeouts!)

          Next report: Sunday.
