    FIRST RACE:

2 HUGGINS plummets to the bottom of the maiden scale after showing speed and stopping vs. maiden-allowance competition in a route race on the grass. Trainer Frank Gomez readied her for this assignment with a bullet three-furlong workout in :35 3/5. 7 SOCIETY ZONE recovered from a mugging at the start (knocked sideways) to finish fourth vs. similar. Trainer Danny Delk tabs jockey Joe Judice to handle this major contender. 4 HAIL DEVONGATE, a 4-year-old daughter of Devongate, finds a spot where she can be competitive at first asking. Trainer Bill Cesare adds Lasix and M R Cruz. 3 JERRY AT THE BARR makes her local debut after showing speed and fading badly at both Gulfstream and Tampa. The sophomore will try and steal the opener on the front end.

    SELECTIONS: 2-7-4 LONGSHOT: 3

    SECOND RACE:

1 REDYORNOTHEREICOM drops to the $10K level after dueling for the lead and fading to finish fifth vs. $16K two-lifetime claimers last out. Trainer Danny Delk spots the son of Seattle Sleet where he should be effective. 6 MR. RAJIV hasn't been in action since coming within a length of defeating $16K claimers at Gulfstream. Trainer Collin Maragh has Manny Aguilar guiding this major contender. 4 EROTICO is turning back to five and a half furlongs after setting the pace and weakening to finish a distant second vs. similar quality at six and a half. 7 DINNER FLIGHT is turning back to his best distance thus far (4-1-0-1) after recovering from a slow start to finish fourth, at 39-1, vs. $10K types at six and a half furlongs.

    SELECTIONS: 1-6-4 LONGSHOT: 7

    THIRD RACE:

1 HONORABLE WORLD drops to the $6.250 level after using a tactical pace advantage to beat $10K conditioned claimers last Tuesday. She's the controlling speed again, and a serious threat to make it two in a row. 4 ELLENTON LASS returned to what is clearly her favorite racetrack (8-2-2-3) after rallying late to defeat $5,250 claimers in her Tampa finale. It's the old horse-for-course angle. 5 PLEASANT DEED moved to the Rich Ciardullo Jr. barn after dueling for the lead and fading in her Tampa finale vs. $8,000 claimers. However the mare, 5 for 10 in the money on this track, must avoid a costly speed duel with Honorable World to offer her best. 3 ENJOY THE WINE will try claimers on the main track after finishing dead last vs. entry-level allowance competition on the grass. Trainer Rudy Wolfendale adds blinkers and jockey Luis Arango for this event.

    SELECTIONS: 1-4-5 LONGSHOT: 3

    FOURTH RACE:

6 TOM WHO is turning back to a mile after chasing the pace and finishing second best at a mile and a sixteenth. The gelded son of Fortunate Prospect is long overdue for the maiden victory (11-0-3-1). 1 NEVER TOO CLEVER dropped to the $25K level after stalking the pace and finishing a respectable fourth vs. $40K maidens at the distance. Note jockey Eddie Castro, who rode both Tom Who and Never Too Close last out, opts to stick with the latter. 4 CANAVATI responded to surface switch and the drop in competition with a third place finish at this level and distance. Trainer Juan Arias gives jockey Omar Klinger the return call. 7 HE'SGOTTAALOTTALUCK tries $25K claimers on the main track after failing to show much vs. $40K maidens on the grass. Trainer Rich Ciardullo Jr. has apprentice Emanuel Cosme handling this unknown quantity on the dirt.

    SELECTIONS: 6-1-4 LONGSHOT: 7

    FIFTH RACE:

1 IRISH PUNCH shortens up to eight furlongs after dueling throughout to finish second at a mile and a sixteenth. She's the logical choice unless her 1-for-25 record turns you off. 10 ANGIE AND PAM dropped to the $10K level and shortens up to a mile after weakening late to finish second - beaten three lengths - vs. $16K two-lifetime types. 8 ROCK'D EM ALL, an inconsistent daughter of Military, can compete with these if she brings her A-game. She has the ability to control the action against a field that's a little light in the speed department. 6 SONGINTHEDARKNESS is turning back slightly after rallying late to finish third behind Irish Punch at a mile and a sixteenth. Trainer Bob Monahan tabs Mel Toro to ride.

    SELECTIONS: 1-10-8 LONGSHOT: 6

    SIXTH RACE:

7 WITHLIN will face $32K maidens with Lasix added after prompting the pace and fading to fourth after she apparently bled in her $40K debut. The five-furlong workout on June 1 should set her up perfectly for this assignment. 5 TRUE ROYALTY is stretching out slightly to five furlongs after rallying wide to finish second against $25K maidens at four and a half. The daughter of Proud And True is ready to jettison the maiden tag. 8 SAINTLY SUE, a daughter of Devil His Due, shows a sharp five-furlong workout on May 28 in preparation for the debut. Tab the tote action for more clues about her chances to win at first asking. 11 SWEET MERCY faces $30K maidens after hesitating at the start of her special weight debut. Trainer Herman Wilensky, a winner with 3 of his last 12 horses making their second start (25%), tabs Chris Morales to ride.

    SELECTIONS: 7-5-8 LONGSHOT: 11

    SEVENTH RACE:

1 BATTLING BUZZ is stretching out a couple of furlongs after finishing a willing third - beaten a half-length - at five-eighths of a mile. The son of Kipper Kelly should offer his best in the third start back from a five-month layoff. 7 DE LA MOTHE is back in the claiming ranks after showing speed and fading vs. entry-level allowance competition at six and a half furlongs. 2 END SWEEP'S GOLD tries seven furlongs (6-0-2-1) after finishing third at six and a half and five and a half furlongs, respectively. The gelding, 16-1-7-1 on this track, may have found the spot where he can notch the elusive second lifetime victory. 6 ACTCELERATE stretches out to the distance where he broke his maiden (2-1-0-1) after chasing the pace and tiring to finish fourth at six and a half furlongs.

    SELECTIONS: 1-7-2 LONGSHOT: 6

    EIGHTH RACE:

4 MORLUNA, a daughter of With Approval, now under the watchful eye of trainer Jose Garoffalo, hasn't raced since finishing a strong fourth behind a pair of next-out winners in a fruitful entry-level allowance at Gulfstream (March 20). She's definitely the one to fear if the race stays on the turf. 1 RINGAROUNDAROSIE and 1A EXCLUSIVE DEPOSIT are a complimentary duo for trainer Henry Collazo. The former, knocking on the door on the turf, is 4 for 5 in the money on a fast track and a winner on a wet track while the latter is 7 for 9 in the money on this course, and 19-3-3-2 on the dirt. 2 CRAFTY DIVA will be outfitted with blinkers after making a four-wide bid to finish fourth on the main track. 5 CHRISSY JAY is another versatile sort that has shown the ability to handle turf, dirt, and wet tracks.

    SELECTIONS: 4-1-1A-2 LONGSHOT: 5

    NINTH RACE:

6 THEONEILOVE drops to the $16K level after rallying to finish a respectable fourth, as the favorite, in her maiden special weight debut. 3 SOTHATSWHEREWEREAT faces a notch softer competition after finishing third vs. $20K and $40K maidens, respectively. Trainer Steve DiMauro keeps the status quo with Eduardo Nunez in the irons. 1 RITA'S PRAYER stretches out to five furlongs after dueling along the inside and holding on to finish second vs. $25K maidens at four and a half. She has the rail and the speed needed to use it to her advantage. 4 CASH SETTLEMENT, a daughter of Time Bandit, shows four local workouts, which includes a pair of three-furlong bullets, in preparation for the debut. Trainer Dave Vivian Jr. adds Lasix and Manny Aguilar to the mix.

    SELECTIONS: 6-3-1 LONGSHOT: 4

BEST BET: RACE 8 - MORALUNA
