    FIRST RACE:

3 MAGGIES STORM is turning back slightly to six furlongs after setting the pace and weakening to finish second best at six and a half. The daughter of Stormy Atlantic looks strong in the opener. 1 FIERY START shows three sharp workouts, including the bullet five-furlong gate work on May 29, in preparation for the first start since finishing second vs. similar in her five-furlong debut at Gulfstream (April 8). 2 CD PLAYER stretches out to her best distance thus far (3-0-1-1) after chasing the pace and tiring to finish third in a $32K maiden test at five and a half furlongs. Trainer Luis Olivares has Manny Aguilar to handling the improving daughter of Montbrook. 6 JACK'S TOUCH, a daughter of Touch Gold, has trained strongly enough to be a factor in her lifetime debut. Trainer Ron Spatz adds Lasix and apprentice Leroy Nelson.

    SELECTIONS: 3-1-2 LONGSHOT: 6

    SECOND RACE:

3 VIGNERON dropped to the bottom of the maiden scale and stretched out to a mile after finishing fourth in consecutive sprints vs. $16K maidens. Trainer Bill Cesare has M R Cruz handling the daughter of Proud and True. 1 BALDSKI'S LINE has room to improve after bumping and checking on the far turn in her recent performance at this level and distance. 6 STARHOCRACY will be treated with Lasix after the apparent bleeding incident in her five-furlong debut. Note that the daughter of Adhocracy is bred to love this distance. 8 SHARE 'N RAINBOWS stretches out to eight furlongs after a ground saving trip produced a fourth place finish at six furlongs. Trainer Robert Monahan has Melvin Toro handling the stretchout.

    SELECTIONS: 3-1-6 LONGSHOT: 8

    THIRD RACE:

2 SHENNY had her two-race win streak come to a screeching halt when she flashed early speed and faded vs. $16K claimers at the distance. She finds a perfect spot to rebuild her confidence. 4 SISTER PONCHE hasn't been in action since she faced entry-level allowance competition at Great Lakes Down last summer. Trainer Harold Schultz tabs Manny Aguilar to handle her first start in nine-plus months. 3 GLOW BROOK drops to the $10K level after chasing the pace and tiring to finish fifth vs. tougher at the distance. Trainer Ralph Ziadie tabs Roimes Chirinos to ride. 1 RUCKUSLADY debuts locally after hitting the board in four consecutive races at Tampa. Consistency is a strong commodity in a race that conjures up more questions than answers.

    SELECTIONS: 2-4-3 LONGSHOT: 1

    FOURTH RACE:

2 HARTS GAP drops into this three-lifetime allowance and turns back to seven and a half furlongs (3-1-2-0) after rallying late to finish fourth vs. tougher in the $40K Liberada Handicap. Leading trainer Bill White secures the services of jockey Abdiel Toribio. 6 SILET looked like she had this condition in the bag before she was nipped at the wire by heavily favored Coquinerie at a mile and a sixteenth last out. The turnback to seven and a half furlongs (4-1-1-2) can help her make amends. 3 RAISE THE LEVEL, who has shown in the past that she can run well fresh, makes her first start since a troubled trip vs. similar quality last November. Trainer Tim Ritvo tabs M R Cruz to ride. 1 MAINE SONG certainly has room to improve after finishing a troubled sixth (steadied turn) behind Silet last out. The daughter of The Vid, trained by Jim Hatchett, can upset the apple cart with her best.

    SELECTIONS: 2-6-3 LONGSHOT: 1

    FIFTH RACE:

1 RIZZI LEE should be primed and ready to offer his best after rallying to finish third, against similar stock, in his first start back from a five-month layoff. Trainer Dave Braddy has M R Cruz atop the previous winner at the distance (1-1-0-0). 3 BRIDGE JUMPER is cutting back to seven furlongs after posting the best last-race speed figure when finishing fifth vs. better in a $16K claimer at a mile and a sixteenth. Note that he finished third in his only previous race at this distance. 6 CATSURE steps up the competition after drawing clear with authority to defeat two-lifetime claimers at the distance. He finds an ideal spot to keep the win streak going. 4 EL GRAN MARCO is another ready to show more after finishing a workman-like fourth in his first start back from a seven-week freshening.

    SELECTIONS: 1-3-6 LONGSHOT: 4

    SIXTH RACE:

2 B. B. BEST certainly lived up to his name when he drew clear to break his maiden by almost 15 lengths. The son of impressive sire Yes It's True will be odds-on to make it two in a row. 6 DEVIL'S DISCIPLE showed heart and determination when he shook off early pressure to win his lifetime debut by three-plus lengths. He'll be tested for class this afternoon. 1 LOOKIN FOR BISCUIT and 1A MY BUDDY RICHIE step up the competition after winning their respective debuts in the maiden claiming ranks. However, you do get two for the price of one with the Dave Braddy entry. 4 HURRICANE MIA will be outfitted with blinkers after breaking slowly in his lifetime debut. The bullet five-furlong drill on May 24 (we assume with the blinkers added) indicates the maiden will show more this afternoon.

    SELECTIONS: 2-6-1 LONGSHOT: 4

    SEVENTH RACE:

7 RUSSIAN NOTE turns back to a mile and a sixteenth after surrendering a late lead when finishing second in a very promising turf debut at nine furlongs. Owner/trainer/breeder Stan Ersoff tabs Manny Aguilar to handle the mini turnback. 9 UMA NORMA showed a fondness for local sod when she dueled from start to finish and was beaten only a head for the whole enchilada. The daughter of Pleasant Tap should have a bright future on the blades. 8 FORMAL FLAME hit the gate and steadied on the turn when finishing fourth behind Russian Note last out. She can close the gap with a clean trip. 2 MISS KENAI breaks from an inside post (2) after dueling for the lead and fading in her local debut at this level and distance. She can brave on an uncontested lead.

    SELECTIONS: 7-9-8 LONGSHOT: 2

    EIGHTH RACE:

6 ONE SILENT LOVE shortens up slightly to a mile after squandering a three-length lead to finish second - beaten three-quarters of a length - at a mile and a sixteenth. Eddie Castro rides strictly the one to beat. 8 GROOMEROMA turns back to her best distance (2-1-1-0) after rallying to finish fourth behind One Silent Love and Pam's Girl at a mile and a sixteenth. Manny Aguilar gets the riding assignment. 4 PAM'S GIRL steadied on the first turn when finishing third behind One Silent Love last out. She can reverse the previous outcome with a clean trip. 2 PAYABLE ON DEMAND takes a suspicious drop into this two-lifetime claimer after she was eased in the $40K Lenta Stakes. Take a look at the daughter of Out Of Place in the post parade to see if she looks ready for the task ahead.

    SELECTIONS: 6-8-4 LONGSHOT: 2

    NINTH RACE:

8 ST BALLADO'S IMAGE turns back slightly to five and a half furlongs after recovering from a bumping incident at the start to finish third, as the odds-on choice, in her recent outing at three-quarters of a mile. She should make amends this afternoon. 9 CRIMSON, an $180K daughter of Kris S., now under the care of trainer Cam Gambolati, returns to the main track and removes the blinkers after the chase-and-fade performance on the Gulfstream turf. The sophomore has trained nicely for this event. 2 TRIPLE SLAM is turning back to a sprint distance after she was eased in her first ever try around two turns. Trainer Eddie Plesa Jr. has Eddie Castro handling the daughter of Grand Slam. 3 WALKIN' ON BY removed the blinkers after breaking outward and bumping St Ballado's Image at the start of their last race. She will show more with a clean break.

    SELECTIONS: 8-9-2 LONGSHOT: 3

    TENTH RACE:

6 PUNCH APPEAL steps up into the allowance ranks after drawing clear with enthusiasm to humble $40K maidens by eight and a half lengths. 1 LEONA'S KNIGHT stretches out to five furlongs after rallying three-wide to win her lifetime debut at four and a half. That performance was given a boost when the second place finisher Spinning Jolie broke her maiden by 15 lengths (May 23 - 6th race). 7 MY KIP shows a solid half-mile workout since the promising two-furlong debut in which she beat $40K maidens with a vigorous hand ride. M R Cruz will guide the daughter of Kelly Kip. 5 LIT'L DEUCE COUPE has the distinction of being the only horse in the race with a previous victory at the distance. Trainer Jim Hatchett keeps the status quo with Paul Toscano in the irons.

    SELECTIONS: 6-1-7 LONGSHOT: 5

    ELEVENTH RACE:

4 CRYPTICALLY stretches out to seven furlongs (1-1-0-0) after dueling for the lead and tiring to finish fifth in her local return at six and a half. Trainer Luis Olivares has Eddie Castro in the irons. 7 LYDIA A will try seven panels after a game performance at six and half in which she dueled from the onset and was beaten only a head at 38-1. I don't think you get double-digit odds this time around. 3 BLESSING ANGELICA drops to the $10K level after an eventful journey vs. $16K types in which she checked both on the turn and inside the furlong marker. 1 J B'S GIRL breaks from the rail after showing zilch, as the lukewarm favorite, in her recent outing at six and a half. Trainer Kathleen O'Connell deputizes Danny Scocca to handle the rebound.

    SELECTIONS: 4-7-3 LONGSHOT: 1

BEST BET: RACE 4 - HARTS GAP
