Arlington Analysis for Friday, June 4
Race 1: PIANO TUNER drops quite a few levels. Ger recent races hacen¹t been bad, she¹s just been in a little over her head. Can score against these. STREETS OF FIRE raced competitively in her local debut. Many improve after getting a trip over the track. She could be one of them. SOUTHERN MISS has been showing increasingly better speed with every start. Was an easy seven-length maiden winner in last. Might be able to win right back.
Race 2: RICH COINS has been meeting far better rivals all year. This drop into the non-winners in the last six months should wake him up in a big way. WESTCOASTWILDCAT was narrowly beaten when dropped to this level last time out. He usually races well on this track. Stalker could get over the hump. DISCREET CAPER appears to have the best early speed. He tends to fade late but he¹s always eligible to hang on, at least for a share.
Race 3: I LOVE LISA has been terrific this year, winning three and placing in three from only six races. Easy winner of last meets somewhat better here but she¹s so sharp right now she might not even notice. MY ANTONIA has been victorious in four of six races on this track, including last. Loves the front end and loves the slop. Might get both. ROCKET ROYALE drops in class, switches to the main track from turf, and turns back in distance. Her connections have been red hot all year. Can add some fuel to the fire.
Race 4: REVER takes a suspicious drop following a decent effort in his first start against winners but he was probably in too tough in that race anyway. Should be tough to beat at this level but drops like this always look suspect. Choice but caution is urged. LOGAN FIELD raced very well in his first start against winners despite getting caught up in a raging speed duel. Turns back from six and a half to six furlongs. Drops in class. Could prove tough to catch. GOLD PANIC raced very well in his local debut. Should expect improvement in his second trip over the track.
Race 5: RUPERT¹S FIRE comes off two good second-place finishes at this level. Stalker has enjoyed considerable local success. The pace should set up well enough to allow her to enjoy even more. TRY HARDER moves up in class after getting claimed from an 11-length victory in her local debut. Was taken by a very good claiming trainer. Keeps red hot apprentice rider in the irons. Could easily repeat. PRINCESS MODISTE has speed to spare. Forget last on the turf, she¹s had absolutely no success in seven turf tries. But, she is likely to be at the top of her game. Can lead this throughout. TEXAS TREE displays both good speed and the ability to stalk at times. Exits a tough starter allowance race. Might surprise these.
Race 6: JUNIOR BUNK finished seventh in his lone grass race but he made up 19 lengths in that race, 10 in the stretch alone. Proved he could handle the nine-furlong distance with a good second-place finish in maiden specials last time out. The drop into maiden claimers and the switch to the turf could allow him to graduate. DRAGONWOOD is a well-bred first time starter racing for a trainer that wins with about 29% of those debuting for him. Has been training steadily if not spectacularly. Guessing he¹s ready. SOLITARY was racing very well at Tampa before shipping up here. Raced competitively on the turf at Hawthorne in the fall. Late runner should get close. INCREDIBLEE might be the best of the speed. Could steal this if he draws in. STORMIN GEN. TOMMY didn¹t show much in either of his races but this barn wins over 50% of the time when they drop runners from maiden specials to maiden claimers.
Race 7: TITLE SHOT meets his easiest field since his maiden score. Raced well in all of his starts at this distance. Stalker should be tough in this spot. KING OF THE VALLEY just missed in his local debut, which was also his first start against winners. He¹s eligible to be even better after getting a trip over the track. He¹s been running very well with Campbell aboard, however, so have to wonder why that rider is aboard NEUF DE COEUR, the uncoupled stablemate of this runner. Watch that rival for unexpected action. INDIAN GAME didn¹t handle turf in last couple but he was very competitive against similar to these on the main track at Hawthorne. Can awaken with the switch back to dirt.
Race 8: BRIDGET SAYS has to draw into the race but she has raced very well on the turf since getting claimed by this barn, winning two of three grass races, including last. Good late burst could allow her to pass them all in the stretch. MISS SWEET TIME usually races well on turf. Her trainer has been red hot with fresh runners all year and the brief layoff , along with the switch back to her regular rider, could have her back at the top of her game. YARICO¹S POND never really impressed last year but those were all main-track races. She¹s bred to love the turf. This $1.4M purchase might start living up to her potential with the switch in surfaces. ECHO SPRING wired the field in last. She¹s probably the best of the speed. She¹s a legitimate threat to lead them all the way again.
Race 9: LIL DANSLET raced well in last, her first start of the year and her first over this track. Should move up considerably off that effort. TINY KISSES takes a much-needed drop and is adding blinkers. Showed good speed anyway. Might be able to take it all the way today. QUAKER CHANGE has been competitive in every start. Adding blinkers could enhance her focus and probably her speed. Might not get caught. LILY LANGFUHR drops, turns back in distance, and switches from turf to dirt. Showed speed in last couple of routes but would expect her to be coming late in this one.
