Choice Plays:
#5 BET ON JOE (ML=6/1)
#3 ETERNAL LOOK (ML=5/1)
#9 SILVER SQUIRE (ML=6/1)
BET ON JOE - Don't often see a beneficial return on investment like +279. This rider/trainer tandem has done well together over the last twelve months. This horse likes to sit just off the pace and the way things shape up here, he should get an idyllic trip. Mount didn't finish in the money in last race, but did beat half the field, and made up ground down the stretch. A slight improvement and this horse should be right there at the wire. ETERNAL LOOK - This gelding's last race was back on July 15th but I do believe he can run a good one coming off a vacation. Dropping in class rating points from his Jul 15th race at Calder. Based on that valuable data, I will give this horse the edge. Personally, I wouldn't worry about where he finished in his last race (sixth). Should improve in this field, with some pretty good odds. SILVER SQUIRE - Didn't do well last out, but I do see two starts back when racing on the dirt, a whole different equine. Speed rating of 86 should put this one in the money. When this jock and handler team up you have to take a look. Castro and Wolfson have been fabulous together.
Vulnerable Contenders: #6 CONTRARIAN (ML=5/2), #4 RUFUSTHEROADRUNNER (ML=4/1), #8 ROMAN TWIST (ML=8/1)
CONTRARIAN - A 'bounce' is likely to happen for this animal today. May rebound next time. RUFUSTHEROADRUNNER - This gelding hasn't had any strong efforts in short distance races in the last two months. Most unsatisfactory speed figure in the last race at Calder at 6 1/2 furlongs. Don't feel this questionable contender will improve too much today. ROMAN TWIST - No picnic to play this mount this time. Make him show you something in a short distance event before you invest in him in a race of 6 furlongs.
GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - ETERNAL LOOK - Ran well the first part of last race at Calder, then lost ground. Finished evenly, though. Should improve in this race.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
# 4 MT. MORAN 10/1
# 6 J. J.'S JOY 8/1
# 1 DEVIL'S GULCH 2/1
MT. MORAN has a respectable shot to take this affair and is a very strong value bet given the line. With a nice class fig average of 87, has one of the strongest class advantages in this group. Stauffer has this gelding racing well and is a very good pick based on the quite good Equibase Speed Figures garnered in route races lately. This horse has a excellent win percent in dirt routes. J. J.'S JOY - With a solid 81 average Equibase Speed Figure at the distance, seems well suited for today's contest. DEVIL'S GULCH - Had one of the most competitive Equibase Speed Figures of this field in his last race. He looks strong in this slot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the midpoint.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES
# 5 BRASSY SHIRLEY 5/2
# 8 GOLDEN GLOW TWO 10/1
# 6 RAGING RUBY 6/1
I've got to go with BRASSY SHIRLEY. In this field, this one is at the top in earnings per start in dirt sprint races. Has recorded sound Equibase speed figs in dirt sprint races in the past. Exhibits the look of a profitable play, averaging a solid 60 speed rating which is one of the best in this group. GOLDEN GLOW TWO - She should have a strong performance versus this less demanding field. Could best this field based on the Equibase Speed Fig - 63 - of her last race. RAGING RUBY - No strangers to the winner's circle, Acquilano and Davila will most likely have this filly breaking away from the field.

#4 DONNY (ML=3/1)
#1 SKY BLUE BID (ML=7/2)
#7 WONDANCEWILLDO (ML=5/2)
DONNY - The rider and conditioner combination have a lucrative ROI when they combine forces. Last raced at Prairie Mdws with a poor post position. I swiped some data from The Brain, and his computer says the inside should be a big help to this one today. SKY BLUE BID - The rider/trainer tandem of Eads and Rubchinuk has a strong ROI together. This gelding is in good physical condition, having run a good race on May 14th, finishing first. This animal brings in a lot of dough per race. Tops in this affair. WONDANCEWILLDO - When Corbett and Coatney work together on equines the return on investment has been fantastic at +245. A campaigner coming back this soon after a strong contest is a good omen.
Vulnerable Contenders: #6 CLU TOO (ML=4/1), #3 SPEEDY HALO (ML=9/2), #2 TREVOR FOREVER (ML=8/1)
CLU TOO - Unlikely that the speed rating he recorded on May 18th will be enough in this affair. SPEEDY HALO - Just don't figure that he is worth the risk at the probable odds. TREVOR FOREVER - Just can't bet on any less than sharp equine right back after he doesn't hit the board after any long layoff.
