Churchill Downs Race 3 Play #1 Autopscot
Significant rise in class off the claim for a trainer who has won first out with five of his last eight claims! Ran respectably at this level at Keeneland despite bucking the track's speed bias. Should go off at a solid price.
Arlington Park Race 8 Play #4 Intern
This race is carded for the turf but will likely be switched to the main track because of rain all weekend in Chicago. The play is good for either turf OR dirt. Is making second start off the layoff after legging up with a prep fifteen days ago on a tiring turf course. Another solid price here.
Belmont Park Race 1 Play #3 Upturn
Horse raced Friday and was claimed by aggressive trainer who wheels back on only two days rest! Trainer hits at 44 percent with horses on short returns like this. May go off as high as 2-1 because of presence of another horse who got a big speed figure last time out.
Belmont Park Race 9 Grade 1 Metropolitan Hcp Play #6 Strong Hope
Third race of the year for one of last year's top three year olds. Has run two monster speed figures in a row and has been pointed for today's classic Met Mile. Has outstanding early speed but is very game and will survive a likely speed duel. Expected rain can only help as horse is 2-for-2 on wet tracks. Five strong workouts in preparation for this.
Belmont Park Race 10 Play #1 Stars and Spice
Making second career start after an awful debut. But has worked out fine since that race and meets a typically weak bunch of New York bred fillies. May go off at a decent price because of the lousy debut run.
Lone Star Park Race 9 Lone Star Hcp. Play #5 Saint Buddy
One of two horses to ship in from California for this six horse stakes race. My pick ran a decent third in the Santa Anita Handicap to current superstar Southern Image (the Smarty Jones of four year olds). Prepped for this with a turf race at Hollywood Park four weeks ago. Tyler Baze in from west coast to ride.
