#3 SCREAMIN' PATRIOT (ML=7/2)
#5 POP SONG (ML=4/1)


STARTER - Was in a $7,500 Claiming race at Oaklawn Park last time out. That event had a class figure of 86 and he is moving down in this event. A certain serious competitor. SCREAMIN' PATRIOT - Taking a class drop in class figure points from his May 6th race at Lone Star Park. Based on that data, I will give this thoroughbred the edge. Broberg brings him right back. I propose you stick with this live gelding. POP SONG - He keeps getting closer at the finish with each and every start. I think Griggs is making a good move here. This gelding can only be aided by the shorter trip. On May 14th this gelding shipped in to win and looks good right back. When this rider and conditioner team up you have to take a look. Arellano and Griggs have been wonderful together. Looking at today's Equibase class figure, this pony is encountering an easier bunch than last race out at Lone Star Park.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 TIGER'S SHOT (ML=3/1), #6 MONEYMAN JOHN (ML=5/1), #8 QUADRUPLE DOG DARE (ML=8/1),

TIGER'S SHOT - The morning-line favorite is suspect here with the lack of morning drills. This entrant hasn't won at this track. MONEYMAN JOHN - Morning line odds of 5/1 make this thoroughbred a pass by my standards. QUADRUPLE DOG DARE - Difficult to put any money on this gelding on the win end. Likes to hit the board though. This gelding recorded a speed rating in his last race which likely isn't good enough in today's event.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - SCREAMIN' PATRIOT - After a layoff, has had a few races and today he enters a sprint race. Should be back in form, so I expect this one to perform well in today's race.

ULTRASOUND - This filly should improve after adding Lasix in the last race and getting it again today.

COTTONEYE CAREN - The chalk horse is shaky here with the lack of morning drills. Don't think this pony will make a winning move in today's race. That last speed fig was run-of-the-mill when compared with today's class figure. JACK N GINGER - Last ran on May 21st at Arlington, finishing ninth. Unlikely to improve off of that try in today's event. Will probably be at the rear with much too much to do in the stretch. DEBU'S TEMPLE - This filly probably needs a more preferred pace situation to make her late move.

SHE'S INCREDIBLE - This filly is tops in EPS (earnings per start). Check out this one in the paddock. It looks like Jaramillo had to learn about this filly on May 8th when riding her for the first time. Back on again today. Lasix can take some getting used to, especially for a filly. They usually hit stride the second time using it, like we have with this horse. WHITE HART LANE - Owns the highest speed rating on the turf at this distance. Average class rating is tops in this group. I think that is a big edge for a grass race. You should discount that last affair at Gulfstream Park on a sloppy track where she finished out of the money. Should do well in this event under normal track conditions.

Vulnerable Contenders: #8 PUBLICIST (ML=5/2), #3 MAXINE (ML=5/2), #6 MS. VIOLETTE (ML=7/2),

PUBLICIST - She's almost certainly going to get cooked at the front. MAXINE - All kinds of crazy speed on board for this contest. Little chance for this front-runner. I normally try to beat this kind of chalk. Extended vacation and no drop in level of competition. MS. VIOLETTE - All sorts of crazy early speed on board for this affair. No chance for this early speedball.

ZIPPING BY - This speed freak is cutting back in distance today. Should enhance his chances to win. TOWN HERO - Trainer Jansen moves this one down in class to face a lower class of horses. Look for a nice effort in this race. Personally, I wouldn't worry about where he finished in his last race (fourth). Should rebound today, with some pretty good odds. This gelding is most obviously on the improve with speed figs of 49, 56, 72 last 3 out. The 72 most recent race speed fig looks mighty good on paper.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 RAFIDAIN (ML=7/5), #6 TOP HAND (ML=9/2),

RAFIDAIN - Finished second in his most recent effort with a run-of-the-mill speed rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this field. TOP HAND - Trying to beat this one today at the value of 9/2.

GREAT HARBOUR CAY - He got a decent speed rating the last time he tried this distance. When Guerrero and Ziadie join forces on equines the ROI has been fabulous at +190. I expect a lot from this magnificent animal. His speed figures under similar conditions are tops in this group. That recent bullet 35.8 work shows that this colt is ready for a top effort today. LOUDEN'S GRAY - Have to give this gelding a good shot. Ran a nice contest last time around the track within the last 30 days. Running on the turf today, you should review a horse's class. This one has the top number in the bunch.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 ZEUS ODIN (ML=5/2), #3 CUNAVICHE (ML=4/1), #1 ELSENORDELOSCIELOS (ML=8/1),

ZEUS ODIN - Pace is so vital, and this speedball is going to have a speed duel on his hands. Quite unimpressive fig last time out at Gulfstream Park at 5 furlongs. Don't believe this less than sharp equine will improve too much in today's event. CUNAVICHE - Going to have a difficult go of it with all the other early lick in this race. The finish of fifth in the last race shows me that this animal may be tailing off. Unlikely that the speed rating he registered on May 19th will be good enough in this race. ELSENORDELOSCIELOS - You always think this horse has a shot to be victorious, but he comes up short most every time.

UNIQUE GREATNESS - This jockey and trainer have a profitable ROI when they combine forces. Widely used handicapping angle - 3rd or 4th start after a layoff generally leads to a big effort. Should run big today. LIL' SMARTIEPANTS - Vega drops her down to this class. You don't need too much more handicapping data to figure that this one should have a chance to win at this level. Last raced at Gulfstream Park carrying 6 lbs more. The lower weight assigned right here in this race should serve her well. BETAMERICA BABE - This racer coming off a good try in the last thirty days is a serious competitor in my opinion. Generally accepted angle - 3rd or 4th start after a vacation generally leads to a big effort. This one is live today. 48-52-67 are last three Equibase speed figures. Improving each time out is something she should do again today.

STARSHIP STACHE - 9/5 is just not enough of a price to take on this entrant. RUN HARTER - This youngster isn't going to beat the veterans today, maybe another time. MICHELLE - I find it hard to invest in this runner in today's event. Make her show you something in a sprint contest before you play her in a race of 5 1/2 furlongs. Be apprehensive of this three-year old versus the older ones. Will do better with more experience.

Rivera rode this thoroughbred for the initial time last time around the track and comes right back today. Look for this gelding to show much better in this event. Last affair at Parx Racing finishing sixth on an off track is no indication of his true talent. SLAMINATOR - My handicapping 'sense' tells me to be ready for this mount in this contest

TRICKY CITIZEN - Hard to bet on at 5/2 odds after the last two outings. U. TEE - The speed figure last race out doesn't fit very well in this race when I look at the class figure of today's contest. Mark this entrant as a likely underlay. GINNER - Just cannot bet on this racer. Didn't show me anything positive in the last race or on Oct 23rd.

STATELY DEFENCE - I look for this racer to sit chilly off the pace and make a solid move on the turn, cruising straight on to the finish line. KNACQUE - Magee is strong in turf sprints. This equine should have no alibis if she doesn't win. When Cintron and Magee join forces on animals the ROI has been wonderful at +132. Mare won shipping here on May 25th and looks good right back. You have to be keen on that most recent race speed fig, 93, which is the best most recent race figure of this bunch. She has the highest earnings per race. Check out this one. SILK N' SEQUINS - I think this mare is ready to run a good one. She's had enough outings since the vacation and should be fit. This mare is in excellent form right now. Finished third last time out and comes back quickly.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 CAUSE FOR VICTORY (ML=3/1), #4 OROLUCE (ML=5/1), #6 PRIVATE MARINA (ML=6/1),

CAUSE FOR VICTORY - Equibase speed figs tell a narrative of decreasing form. OROLUCE - Difficult to play this less than sharp equine in today's event. Make her show you something in a short distance contest before you play her in a race of 7 1/2 furlongs. PRIVATE MARINA - Can't really be sure that the latest speed fig of 85 is true since it was garnered on a sloppy track. Should have at least finished in the money in the last 60 days in a sprint affair to be worth the chance at small odds in a sprint.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - KNACQUE - This mare fits nicely here against these horses. Her average class figure is tops in the field.

#10 ADIRONDACK POSSE (ML=12/1)


UNCHARTED COURSE - You always have to be on the prowl for revenue generating jockey/handler tandems; we have one right here. Have to give this horse a chance. Ran a solid race in the last race within the last month or so. SO NOTED - You always have to be on the lookout for profit making jock/conditioner duos; we have one right here. A colt like this one, almost always in the top three, usually makes an excellent trifecta key horse. Baker brings him back again. I suggest you stick with this hot colt. Earnings per race is something that I feel can be a vital handicapping factor. This horse is ranked number one in this group. Horse has improved at least two speed rating points in last two races. I look for that trend to continue in today's race. SPOOKED OUT - Velasquez knows this equine pretty well. Strong win percentage of 67 when horse and jock work together. Horse was in versus 'open company' on May 6th and should find this group easier to deal with. I just may give this one a shot. Should improve off last race where he did run outside the top 3, but was within five lengths at the end. Last out, finished fifth in the slop at Belmont Park. Expect better in this field. ADIRONDACK POSSE - Strong return on investment for this rider and handler duet. The recent bullet 36.2 work should put this colt on track for today's outing.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 MORE ZEN TEA (ML=9/2), #13 DAMAGE CONTROL (ML=6/1),

MORE ZEN TEA - Doesn't appear to have enough good aspects to warrant the reward. DAMAGE CONTROL - This questionable contender didn't go to the lead and didn't close in the stretch last time he ran. The lack of zip in the last one, a route race, is a bit disturbing.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - SO NOTED - That bullet move has this thoroughbred on edge. Morning form should transfer well when the real racing begins. Getting my cash.

You may want to throw out that last event at Tampa Bay Downs on the soft turf where he finished out of the top three. Should do well right here under normal track conditions. This colt's last speed rating garnered on May 6th is in the top spot in last race speed figs. Last ran at Tampa Bay Downs and finished fifth. ANGEL OF TROY - This racer picks up a lot of cash per race around the track. I believe she can increase that bankroll right here. Last raced at Indiana Downs carrying 10 pounds more. The lower impost today should serve her well.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 STARSOF THE NILE (ML=3/1), #1 RUBY OUSHANI (ML=7/2), #3 TELLING METZIE (ML=4/1),

STARSOF THE NILE - 3/1 is just too low of a price to take on this participant. RUBY OUSHANI - Doesn't appear to be in a strong circumstance this time out. TELLING METZIE - Just cannot bet on this runner. Didn't show me anything last time around the track or on March 31st. Garnered a disappointing fig in the last race in a Maiden Special race on May 28th. Doubtful to see an improved performance off of that figure.

#4 HAVANA MOON (ML=5/1)

HAVANA MOON - In this race here, this race horse has earned the highest Equibase speed figure at the distance, so I have to give her the edge. When I handicap a race on the turf, I think sometimes class ratings are more important than speed figs. This thoroughbred has the highest average class in the entire bunch. Even though she isn't from around here, when a mount has finished in the money at a major foreign venue she will usually give a good account of herself soon after shipping.

#2 STELLA STREET (IRE) (ML=9/2),

#1 GUILTY TWELVE (ML=6/1),

TEXTING - Finished first in her most recent race with a run-of-the-mill speed rating. When I look at today's Equibase class figure, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this group. STELLA STREET (IRE) - 9/2 is just too low of a price to take on most any animal that has run poorly in back to back races. When looking at today's class figure, she will have to register a much better speed rating than last out to be competitive in this turf route. GUILTY TWELVE - Looked like she was in good form on Jul 9th. Hasn't been near the track since then though. Not a positive sign. Don't believe this pony will do much running today. That last speed rating was mediocre when compared with today's class rating.
